Abstract Previous study only implemented the time consuming and low amount of yield technique for extraction from Chromolaena odorata which is conventional method. Nonconventional extraction method with short extraction time and high amount of yield was applied in this study by applying ultrasound-assisted enzymatic extraction (UAEE). UAEE was used to extract tannic acid from Chromolaena odorata. The extraction parameters involved were enzyme concentration, sonication time and duty cycle at constant temperature of 50°C, solid to liquid ratio of 1:10 and sonication power at 60% amplitude. The optimum extraction process was found at cellulase enzyme concentration of 4%, sonication time of 60 minutes and duty cycle of 50% with the obtained concentration of tannic acid at 1.6152 mg/mL. The study showed that the UAEE could be employed to enhance yield of tannic acid, reduce the extraction time and ensuring green extraction method were applied in the study.

Abstract The oil and protein of dehulled cold-pressed double-low rapeseed cake was extracted by an aqueous enzymatic process. The rapeseed cake was treated by the chosen combined enzymes of Viscozyme L and Alcalase 2.4L (VLA,1:1,w/w). Preliminary experiments and Response Surface Methodology (RSM) were used to study the effects of enzyme concentration, incubation time and water-to-cake ratio on the extraction yield of oil and protein. This is how the desirable conditions were obtained. Transmissive electron microscope photo showed that after cold-pressing the cell structure of rapeseed was partly damaged while dehulling had little effect on the cell structure of rapeseed. In RSM experiments water-to-cake ratio showed significant effects on the extraction of oil and protein (P<0.05),while incubation time only showed significant effects on protein yield (P<0.05).The desirable conditions were as follows: 1.0% concentration (w/w) of VLA; water-to-cake ratio(w/w),6:1; 80 min incubation time. Under this condition, the extraction yield of protein and oil were 82.10% and 71.89%, respectively. Through combining both the cold-press and the aqueous enzymatic processes together, the total oil yield reached 91.6%, which is higher than the normal cold-press process or the aqueous enzymatic extraction process alone.

Along with the increasing quantity of agriculture in Indonesia, should be followed by improving the quality of agriculture. Generally one of the indicators or parameters commonly used to indicate the quality of agriculture is the number of pests that damage plants in certain areas. The control of disturbing organisms on the plant can be minimized by the bio-insecticide production of Carica papaya which is tapped and extracted with ultrasonic-assisted using a mixed NADES solvent from Cholin chloride (ChCl) and Oxalic acid (Ox) with varying sonification time for 10, 20, 30 minutes and solvent ratio of 1: 2 and 2: 1. Bio-insecticide was produced by conducting qualitative enzyme activity of with lowry method and quantitatively using UV / Vis spectrophotometer aid with 750 nm wavelength and efficacy test. The best extraction result was obtained at NADES solvent with 1: 2 ratio with extraction time for 30 min with extraction time for 30 minutes yielding protein concentration equal to 7,23 ppm and tyrosine concentration equal to 7,9 ppm. Bio-insecticide samples effectively kill grayak caterpillars with 100% mortality within 5-7 days.

The increase in durian production results in the accumulation of durian peel waste. The bioactive component of durian peel has the potential to be used as an antioxidant. Thus, there is a need to carry out an extraction process to obtain  bioactive compounds from durian peel. However, conventional extraction methods cause damage to phenolic compounds due to oxidation, hydrolysis and ionization reactions during the extraction process. Therefore, durian peel extraction was carried out using ultrasonic assisted extraction method (UAE) in this study. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of varying ratios of durian peel to ethanol solvents and extraction time on the yield, total phenolics content, total flavonoids content and antioxidant activity. The results of the research data were analyzed using a two-factor completely randomized design, which included variations of the ratio of durian peel to ethanol solvents and extraction time The Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) was carried out as a follow up test to determine the differences in each treatment at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the best treatment for peel extraction using ultrasonic assisted extraction was a 1: 9 ratio of durian peel to ethanol at an extraction time of 20 minutes. The extraction of durian peel under this condition gave the highest yield of 12.77 ± 0.16%, antioxidant activity (IC50) of 38.33 ± 0.12 ppm, total phenolic content of 63.30 ± 0.08 mgGAE / g and total flavonoids content of 47.53 ± 0.48 mgQE / g. In addition, total phenolics content and total flavonoid content showed a strong correlation to the antioxidant activity of durian peel extract.

Prunus mume blossom is an edible flower that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Flavonoids are one of the most active substances in Prunus mume blossoms. The optimal ultrasonic-assisted enzymatic extraction of flavonoids from Prunus mume blossom (FPMB), the components of FPMB, and its protective effect on injured cardiomyocytes were investigated in this study. According to our results, the optimal extraction process for FPMB is as follows: cellulase at 2.0%, ultrasonic power at 300 W, ultrasonic enzymolysis for 30 min, and an enzymolysis temperature of 40 °C. FPMB significantly promoted the survival rate of cardiomyocytes and reduced the concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS). FPMB also improved the activities of proteases caspase-3, caspase-8, and caspase-9 in cardiomyocytes. The cardiomyocyte apoptosis rate in mice was significantly reduced by exposure to FPMB. These results suggest that the extraction rate of FPMB may be improved by an ultrasonic-assisted enzymatic method. FPMB has a protective effect on the injured cardiomyocytes.

Pectin are polymer of D-galacturonic acid connected by β-1,4 glucosidic. Pectin are widely used in pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries. This research was expected to took advantage of banana peels (Musa paradisiaca) by producing pectin. The research used an extraction method by using acid solvent in additional to ethanol to form the sediment of pectin and the last step is drying in order to get dry pectin. The fixed variables which were used in this research were 10 grams banana peels, 10% water content of sample, and chloride acid solvent. Extraction process was carried out by pH 1; 1,5; 2; extraction time of 70, 80, 90, 100 minute, and temperature of 80 oC, 90 oC. The results showed that the highest yield of pectin extraction was obtained at temperature of 80 oC, pH 1,5 during 80 minute with 11,88% water content, 0,98% ash content, and 3,72% the methoxyl content.

In this study, bioactive compounds were extracted by ultrasonic-assisted extraction and classical extraction processes using distilled water as solvent from artichoke leaves which are considered as agricultural wastes. Antioxidant capacity, total phenolic and total flavonoid content values of the obtained bioactive extracts were determined, and extraction yields and times were evaluated to compare the extraction processes. Also, the optimum extraction conditions of ultrasonic-assisted extraction (extraction time and ultrasonic power) which provide the highest extraction yield were determined using D-optimal design by ‘desirability’ function approach. According to the results, bioactive extracts having high antioxidant capacity were obtained at shorter times and higher extraction yields were achieved by ultrasonic-assisted extraction process than classical extraction. The highest extraction yield was estimated as 98.46% with an application of 20.05 minutes of extraction time and 65.02% of ultrasonic amplitude for the ultrasonic-assisted extraction process.

Green extraction process is a method which is used to obtain various plant extracts with minimum impact on the environment. Green extraction will reduce energy consumption, allow use of alternative solvents and renewable natural products, and ensure a safe and high quality extract. Ultrasound-assisted enzymatic extraction (UAEE) is one of green extraction method. UAEE is a mild, efficient and environmental friendly extraction method and it has been adopted for extracting various kinds of compounds. The use of enzyme will catalyze hydrolysis of the cytoderm and glycoproteins, therefore enhancing the release of bioactive substances by disrupting plant cells. The optimum extraction conditions with a maximum yield extract of 48.63% are as follows: the concentration of ethanol is 50% and the amount of added enzyme is 70 mg/g. Crude extract from keji beling leaves is tested using Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) to identify components that have anti-hypercholesterolemic activity, which are hexadecanoic acid, octadecanoic acid and demethyl squalene.

Abstract. The copper in plateau red soil was extracted by ultrasonic-assisted oxalic acid. Tessier fractional extraction method was used to evalute copper speciation. The result showed that the biggest extraction rate was 69%. Compared with oscillation extraction, the extraction rate of ultrasonic extraction was increased by 7.18% under the condition of 0.1 mol/L oxalic acid, 20:1 of liquid-solid ratio and 30 min of extraction time. Ultrasound could promote the oxalic acid extraction of copper from plateau red soil effectively, which could be attributed the success to the activation effect of ultrasound on bound to carbonates speciation and bound to iron and manganese speciation.

In this present study, an attempt was made to investigate the enzyme assisted extraction process to extract the phenolic compounds from onion (Allium cepa) under various operating conditions such as temperature, extraction time and enzyme concentration. Three factors three level Box-Behnken response surface design (BBD) coupled with desired function methodlogy was used to optimize and model the extraction process. Optimum extracting conditions for the maximum phenloic compounds were determined and it was found to be: temperature of 40 0C, extraction time of 16 hour and enzyme concentration of 2 %. Under these conditions, 9.25 % of phenolic compound was extracted. Extracted phenolic compounds can be regarded as the promising antioxidants to scavenge the DPPH free radicals.

Honje fruit (Etlingera elatior) contains bioactive compounds as antioxidants. An antioxidant can be obtained by extraction. This research aimed to determine the best combination of solvent amount and extraction time to produce the optimal yield and antioxidant activity. The extraction method was UAE (Ultrasound Assisted Extraction) using ethanol 96% solvent amount 125 mL to 250 mL and time level of 30 to 60 minutes. The RSM (Response Surface Methodology) in the Design Expert 11 application was used to arrange the extraction combination treatment, which resulted in 13 runs. Parameters analyzed were total yield, antioxidant activity, pH, specific gravity, and color. The results showed that total yield was revealed quadratic, Y1 = 19.05 – 1.76A + 0.32B – 0.002AB + 0.023A2 – 0.0005B2 and the antioxidant activity was revealed linear, Y2 = 408.147 – 6.424A + 0.326B. The optimum treatment was achieved in the amount of solvent 174.815 ml and extraction time of 60 minutes resulted in a total yield of 17.125% and antioxidant activity of 77.55 ppm that could be classified as strong.
