A new endemic species of Amaranthus—Amaranthus neei—from Mexico is described, illustrated, and compared to the putatively related species. A. neei is known from the Valley of Mexico (South of Hidalgo, Mexico city, and State of Mexico), Michoacán, Puebla, Veracruz, and Chiapas. The new species is a monoecious herb characterized by its long, pungent, erect or recurvate, bracts and bracteoles, (2–)3–5 minute pistillate sepals or absent, ovate, oblong to linear, apex acute to obtuse, and fruits circumscissile, irregularly dehiscent to indehiscent. Infrageneric circumscription of A. neei is discussed together with its critical taxonomic position within the currently accepted infrageneric classification of Amaranthus.

Xylopia Linnaeus (1759: 1250) is a monophyletic and widely distributed pantropical genus of Annonaceae (Kessler 1993, Dias & Kinoshita 1998, Lopes & Mello-Silva 2014, Stull et al. 2017). Stull et al. (2017) recently revised the infrageneric classification of the genus on the basis of combined data from seed characters and four plastid markers. Three novelties in arilo have been described, they also recognised a new section, Rugosperma, in addition to the four previously existing ones (Engler & Diels 1901). Approximately 65 species of Xylopia Linnaeus (1759: 1250) occur in the Neotropics, of which all are most likely members of section Xylopia Linnaeus (1759: 1250) (Stull et al. 2017). Nearly half (32 species) of the Neotropical taxa occur in Brazil, of which a majority inhabit the Amazon Basin (Lobão & Johnson 2007, Maas & Rainer 2015).

A new species, Passiflora kuethiana (Passifloraceae) is described and illustrated from Cordillera Calla Calla, Amazonas Department, Northern Peru. This species shares morphological characteristics more related with Passiflora tripartita and Passiflora runa on stipules and flowers but differs mainly from the former in the size, shape and color of the involucre, peduncles length and arrangement, and the latter in shape and margin of stipules. This species is considered as a new endemic to the Peruvian flora. Its location within the section Elkea according to the new classification of Passiflora is proposed. Comparative data of related species and a key to the species of the section Elkea from Northern Peru are too added.

A new, probably endemic species, Orobanche mlokosiewiczii (Orobanchaceae) is described from Georgia, in the Greater Caucasus. The species grows near waterfalls, on slopes with thermo-hygrophilous subalpine tall herbaceous vegetation, and is exclusively parasitic of another endemic species: Aconitum cymbulatum. It is a graceful whitish or pale white-yellow plant, characterised by campanulate flowers and usually a very wide open throat of corolla. So far, for the Orobanche parasite on Aconitum (exlusively A. lycoctonum) only one species O. lycoctoni is known—occurring in the Cantabrian Mts. in Spain and in the Alps. A detailed description, diagnosis, illustrations, and comparison with possible related species (O. lycoctoni, O. krylowii, O. inulae, O. flava subsp. cicerbitae) are provided. We also present phylogenetic analysis, and nomenclatural notes about the above species, and a lectotype of O. inulae is designated. Moreover, inside the Orobanche sect. Orobanche, a new combination Orobanche subsect. Curvatae and a new series Orobanche ser. Krylowianae are proposed and their types are designated.

Anthaxia (Anthaxia) simandli sp. nov., a new endemic species from Iran is described, together with the hitherto unknown male of Anthaxia (Anthaxia) magnifica Bílý, 1983. New synonymy of Anthaxia (Anthaxia) mancatula Abeille, 1900 = Anthaxia (Anthaxia) intermedia Obenberger, 1913 syn. nov. is proposed, and a lectotype for A. mancatula is designated. All species are illustrated, and comments on their bionomy, distribution, and taxonomic position are given, as well as on the current state of the Anthaxia (Anthaxia) manca (Linnaeus, 1767) species-group in Iran.

We here describe a new species, Vincetoxicum luridum, from South West Balochistan. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of leaves and seeds, palynology and chorology support the recognition of V. luridum. The lurid appearance, dense pubescence and ovate corona lobes readily distinguish V. luridum from the closely related species V. stocksii which is endemic to North East Balochistan. We illustrate V. luridum, and confirm the significance of corona morphology for classification of Vincetoxicum in Pakistan. Presently, the V. arnottianum complex comprise four species with purple flowers viz., V. arnottianum, V. sakesarense, V. luridum and V. stocksii. In this study we also present the geographic distribution and a taxonomic key to the taxa of V. arnottianum complex.

Piper picobonitoënse (clade Schilleria), a new endemic species of Piperaceae from Cordillera Nombre de Dios, Honduras, is described and illustrated. Distinguishing characteristics of this species include distichous leaves; lamina lanceolate or narrowly elliptic, slightly falcate, the apex extremely narrow and long-acuminate, base acute to obtuse and equilateral, drying thin-chartaceous; spikes erect, green, free of leaf-base; and triangular floral bracts, W-shaped on upper margin, glabrous. A discussion and an identification key to morphologically related species in Honduras are included. Piper picobonitoënse (clade Schilleria), es descrita e ilustrada como una nueva especie endémica de las Piperáceas de la Cordillera Nombre de Dios, Honduras. Características distintivas de esta especie incluyen hojas dísticas; lámina lanceolada o elíptica angosta, levemente falcada, el ápice extremadamente agudo y largo-acuminado, la base aguda a obtusa e inequilátera, delgado-cartácea al secarse; las espiguillas erectas, verdes, libres de la base de la hoja; brácteas florales triangulares, en forma de W en parte superior de la margen, glabras. Se incluye una discusión y una clave de identificación para las especies morfológicamente relacionadas en Honduras.

Youngia zhengyiana, a new species of Youngia sect. Mesomeris (Asteraceae: Crepidinae) from Guizhou province of south China is described and illustrated. The placement of this species within Youngia is assessed based on a molecular phylogenetic analysis of the nuclear ribosomal ITS and on morphological comparisons with related species. The new species can be easily distinguished by morphology from the only species known to possess 5 florets, Y. szechuanica. The infrageneric classification and the recently debated circumscription of Youngia are discussed in the light of the nrITS phylogeny, which includes several species for the first time. Pseudoyoungia is confirmed as a congener of Youngia. The redefined Youngia is still non-monophyletic with Lapsanastrum nested within it.

Background and aims – This study is part of an ongoing revision of the world Drosera species. During herbarium revisions of Drosera from Madagascar, a new species was identified and is here described.Methods – The species’ morphology is described based on herbarium studies and observation of living plants in situ, and ecological notes from field observations are provided. The species is compared and contextualized within the current subgeneric classification of Drosera.Key results – The new species, Drosera arachnoides, is recognized as most closely related to another Malagasy-endemic, D. humbertii, from which it is morphologically and ecologically distinct. The new species is placed within D. subg. Drosera sect. Ptycnostigma. Based on the restricted occurrence, the species is assessed as Vulnerable, following IUCN categories and criteria. A key to the Drosera species from Madagascar is provided.Conclusion – Drosera arachnoides is the second endemic Drosera species in Madagascar and raises the total number of species on the island to six.

Sparaxis auriculata is a new species of this western Cape and western Karoo genus It resembles  S. villosa (Burm.f.)Goldblatt in its (lowers but is probably allied to  S.  galeata (Jacq.) We propose changes to the infrageneric classification of the southern African winter rainfall genus  Ixia. and describe a new species, I. aurea It is related to I odorata Ker Gawl. but differs in the larger deep yellow or orange flowers which are unscented In  Gladiolus, we propose the new name.  G saxatilis. for the Mpumalanga endemic, originally described as G litliicola Goldblatt J.C.Manning, a homonym for an Ethiopian species.
