The increasingly widespread use of the Internet and the increasing participation of females in business have been significant changes leading to society today. As females have begun to have a more important role in business life, in addition to their crucial role within the family in the decision-making process of making purchases, they have had more financial independence. Additionally, the gap in Internet use in favor of males has also begun to narrow. This makes it necessary for e-marketers that carry out some or all of their transactions online to be fully aware of the effects of gender differences in online purchasing behaviors. This chapter consists of a literature review on the subject of Internet usage and online purchasing behaviors with a focus on gender-based differences. Accordingly, the aim of this chapter is to explore gender-based differences in Internet usage and online purchasing behavior and to suggest some e-marketing strategies for e-marketers. Additionally, this chapter provides a foundation on which to build future studies.

The fight against urban sprawl has become an international motto for planners. However, recent urban policies promoting ‘smart growth’ and ‘new urbanism’ are the subject of growing criticism from various scientific disciplines. This paper goes beyond the debate for or against sprawl to examine the political and social issues behind anti-sprawl policies. We show how and why urban compaction can be perceived as a burden or a resource, depending on the different sub-metropolitan territories concerned. These issues are discussed in the case of the second largest metropolitan area in France, the region of Lyon. The paper analyses how the national legislation on urban sprawl and the ‘compact city’ is implemented in the very diverse territories within Lyon’s metropolis and how some of those territories use it to their advantage. It reveals that the resulting compromises are deceptive and raise spatial justice issues. It also shows how compaction or densification are negotiated in the suburbs to preserve the status quo in wealthy municipalities.

The article presents the results of a study of the modern consumption of video content in the digital media environment by the Russian audience. The study was conducted in May-September 2018 and set itself the task of identifying the main preferences of the audience to the subject of video content, duration of viewing, attitudes to advertising, opportunities and willingness to pay for the watched video. The three-stage level of research using various methods made it possible to analyze the psychological and motivational features of video consumption by different age groups living in different populated areas; identify the degree of influence of technological factors. The level of video consumption in the Russian sector of the Internet is developing dynamically. This is especially true of the young audience, which is active in non-linear video viewing even without taking into account the geography of residence and the size of the settlement. This group uses the capabilities of the mobile Internet, which allow one to access the network anytime and anywhere. Consumption of video on the Internet by a more adult audience differs both within different age groups and in different Russian territories. There remains an open question about the possibilities of modifying and specifying the models for monetizing web-based content, taking into account the audience’s reaction to advertising and not explicitly indicated by the desire of the audience to pay for the content viewed. The solution to this problem seems to be particularly relevant due to the fact that the increase in the volume of the audience that turns to the Internet for video will undoubtedly increase. This is due to systemic trends in changing media consumption and is confirmed by an analysis of the dynamics of auditory behaviour in recent years.

AbstractThe growth of the tourism and hospitality industry played an important role in the gentrification of the post-socialist city of Budapest. Although disinvestment was present, reinvestment was moderate for decades after 1989. Privatisation of individual tenancies and the consequent fragmented ownership structure of heritage buildings made refurbishment and reinvestment less profitable. Because of local contextual factors and global changes in consumption habits, the function of the dilapidated 19th century housing stock transformed in the 2000s, and the residential neighbourhood which was the subject of the research turned into the so called ‘party district’. The process was followed in our ongoing field research. The functional change made possible speculative investment in inner city housing and played a major role in the commodification of the disinvested housing stock.

Canada has an aging population with the fastest growing age groups (80 and 45-64 years old) vulnerable to age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. Caregiving responsibilities often fall to the family members of the afflicted without much attention and consideration being placed on the information needs of these caregivers. We call for a better understanding of these caregivers' information needs and uses by social policy makers as well as information providers.La population du Canada a tendance à vieillir considérablement, avec la hausse la plus rapide dans les groupes d’âge (80 et 45 à 64 ans).
