A new locality of the rare fungus Hericium erinaceus, the species to be included in the Red Data Book of Ukraine, is reported. The fungus was found in Odesa city, for the first time in the steppe zone of Ukraine. This species is an edible and biotechnologically valuable fungus. A description of the new locality and macro- and micromorphological characters of the found fruit bodies are provided. The information about its distribution in Ukraine and worldwide, as well as the original illustrations, are presented.

New data on the distribution, occurrence and ecology of 19 rare and little-known species of Caraboidea from 14 genera were obtained in the result of research at Steppe zone of Ukraine. Herein, Parophonus hirsutulus is given for the fauna of Ukraine for the first time, while Cicindela sylvatica and Carabus coriaceus are recorded for the first time in the Steppe zone. The species Poecilus nitens, Carterus angustipennis lutschniki and Eucarterus sparsutus are registered for the first time in mainland Ukraine, and Acinopus ammophilus is newly found at the steppe of Left-bank Ukraine. The distribution of six rare species in the Steppe zone of Ukraine is specified, namely Calathus mollis, Ophonus minimus, Parophonus planicollis, Ditomus calidonius oriens, Masoreus wetterhallii, and Mastax thermarum. The seasonal occurrence of subspecies Cephalota deserticola sivashensis and Carabus sibiricus errans in biotopes is analyzed. New data on four species of ground beetles protected by the Red Data Book of Ukraine (Cephalota besseri, Carabus hungaricus, Parazuphium chevrolatii, Carterus dama) is provided.

This paper presents data on the new location of the moss Ptilium crista-castrensis (Hedw.) De Not, which is listed in the Red Data Book of the Samara Region on the territory of the nature reserve Racheyskie Rocks in the Syzran district. 10 of its coenopopulation loci have been identified and the exact geographic coordinates are given. For the first time the exact coordinates of 11 coenopopulation loci are also named for the holarctic mountain-forest relict fern Polypodium vulgare L., which is also protected at the regional level, both of these species have a mosaic structure of coenopopulations confined to confluent sandstones as a substrate for growth. It has been revealed that the ecological preferences of these species are very close, however, Polypodium vulgare is more shade-tolerant and it can be called a scioheliophyte, in contrast to the heliophyte Ptilium crista-castrensis . The Polypodium requires more humid and shaded conditions for its normal existence. When growing in the forest-steppe zone, where humidity is often a limiting factor, Ptilium crista-castrensis and Polypodium vulgare can form a significant projective cover (more than 30%) only in the northern and northeastern exposures of the substrate, but only with an enhanced light regime in the phytocoenosis at the density of the stand that is not more than 0,3.

Present paper reports observations on the digger wasp Cerceris tuberculata (Villers, 1787) (Hymenoptera: Crabronidae), listed in Red Data Book of Ukraine, its parasitoids and prey. The observations revealed two parasitoids associated with this wasp: a cuckoo wasp Hedychrum virens Dahlbom, 1845 (Chrysididae) and velvet ant Nemka viduata viduata (Pallas, 1773) (Mutillidae). The host-parasitoid association of this velvet ant and C. tuberculata is provided for the first time. Four species of weevils were registered as a prey of C. tuberculata, three of them are given for the first time herein. New records of the species from Zaporizhzhya and Kherson Regions are provided; the species is reported from Zaporizhzhia Region for the first time.

We report 13 species of treefrogs belonging to six genera of the family Rhacophoridae from Lai Chau Province on the basis of new amphibian collection from Sin Ho District. Four of them, Kurixalus bisacculus, Polypedates mutus, Rhacophorus kio, and Theloderma bicolor are recorded for the first time from this province. We also provide additional data of morphological characters and  natural history of the afore mentioned species. Among 13 recorded species of rhacophorids from Lai Chau Province, two species is listed in the IUCN Red List (2018) and two are listed in the Red Data Book of Vietnam (2007).

The essential oil isolated from Asarum cordifolium C. E. C. Fischer recently discovered in Vietnam, and A. glabrum Merr., an endangered species listed as vulnerable in the Red Data Book of Vietnam, have been analyzed by a combination of chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques including 13C NMR spectroscopy. The composition of A. cordifolium essential oil, investigated for the first time, was dominated by elemicin (82.5%). The essential oil isolated from A. glabrum contained safrole (41.9%) as its major component and was characterized by the diversity of phenylpropanoids contained in this oil (10 compounds).
