AbstractSeveral studies related to implementing mathematics learning in Children with Special Needs have been widely carried out in Indonesia and published in accredited national journals. However, there has been no article survey on research on mathematics learning for children with special needs in Indonesia. Thus, the purpose of this study is to classify all of these studies into several categories related to research on the implementation of mathematics learning in children with special needs in Indonesia. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, which is used to identify, review, evaluate, and interpret research on implementing mathematics learning for children with special needs in Indonesia. The data used comes from seventeen articles contained in thirteen mathematics education journals that have been accredited by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia in the Sinta 1 and 2 categories. The results of this study grouped all analyzed articles into five categories, such as subject, level of education, topic, student abilities, and research methods used in these studies. It also contributes comprehensive information about research trends in implementing mathematics learning for children with special needs in Indonesia. Later, they can become recommendations and initial ideas in research on implementing mathematics teaching and learning for children with special needs.

Twelve special education teachers and teacher assistants who have instructional experience using iPads with children with special needs completed a survey that queried their practices and perceptions. In general, teachers and assistants were extremely positive about the value of iPads for children with special needs, particularly for children with autism, attention deficits and limitations of fine motor control. Special education teachers and teacher assistants reported most frequently using iPads to promote student language and literacy skills, although mathematics learning activities were also commonly reported. Enhanced student motivation was the most frequently reported benefit of using tablet computers in school followed by instructional planning advantages. Tablet computers appear to have the potential to be an essential aspect of individual program plans. Teaching tasks might reasonably include downloading and organizing specific applications on specific children’s tablets and professional development might increasingly focus of evaluation of tablet applications.

HOTS instruction in mathematics is rarely explicitly programmed by the schoolteacher. As a result, students' HOTS is at the lowest level, especially in national or international assessments. The purpose of this research is to determine why mathematics education in Indonesia does not have a significant effect on student HOTS by conducting a review of several Indonesian publications on the subject. This research is a qualitative method of literature review related to the HOTS of Indonesian mathematics students, and an organized interview triangulated to support the data and information from the literature review. The interview consisted of two critical questions administered using Google Form: implementing active learning and mathematics textbooks on mathematics classroom activities. The results concluded that there were two primary sources of error in mathematics learning to increase HOTS in Indonesia: active learning and current mathematics textbooks. Besides, in teaching and learning practices, the active learning model is rarely used when using official texts that do not promote HOTS for mathematics students in Indonesia.

In this chapter, the authors describe four successful experiments in using social networking sites (Facebook and Edmodo) in mathematics teaching and learning, where this use depended on populating the sites with historical mathematicians and/or mathematical phenomena. They describe two models of using social networking sites in mathematics education, as well as the phases of working mathematically with students when implementing each model. The authors emphasize the use of social talk as the first step to involve students with the learning of mathematics, as well as moving to cultural talk as a bridge between the social talk and the mathematical discourse. The experience in the four experiments indicates that social networking sites invite student collaboration, as well as encourage their learning actions and interactions. Teacher's or moderator's sensitivity is a very important factor for the success of the experiment, especially when young students are involved. Other factors which influenced the success of students' learning in social networking sites were the features of the social networking site, the properties of the inter-disciplinary phenomenon or the mathematics produced by the historical mathematicians, the background of the learners, and the activities of the moderator.

Serious Games (SG) are developing a reputation with some educationalists as a useful supplementary approach for teaching and learning. Two important issues for SG application developers and educationalists are how the learning is assessed and how assessment is integrated into a SG application. This chapter presents the results of a systematic literature review on assessment integration in SG and highlights the state of the literature in this area by outlining important papers to act as a guide for educationalists tackling this important issue. This chapter defines assessment and discusses formative and summative assessment and embedded and external assessment. A discussion of traditional assessment approaches and assessment approaches in SG are presented along with a discussion of existing frameworks for the integration of assessment into a SG application. The chapter presents a number of examples of assessment in serious games.

Nowadays, serious games, called training or learning games, have been incorporated into teaching and learning processes. Due to the increase of their use, the need to guarantee their accessibility arises in order to include people with disabilities in the educational environments in an integral way. There are reviews of the literature on video games but not on web-based serious games. Serious games are different from the previous ones because their educational processes allow reinforcing learning. This literature review was conducted using the recommendations for systematic reviews proposed by Kitchenham and Petersen. Three independent reviewers searched the ACM Digital Library, IEEE Xplore, Scopus, and Web of Science databases for the most relevant articles published between 2000 and 2020. Review selection and extraction were made using an interactive team approach. We applied the study selection process’s flowchart adapted from the PRISMA statement to filter in three stages. This systematic literature review provides researchers and practitioners with the current state of web-based serious games and accessibility, considering cognitive, motor, and sensory disabilities.
