Entrepreneurship of young graduates is fundamental in mitigating the challenge of unemployment, while the role of universities is considered to be very important in developing entrepreneurial behavior. Thus, the present study aims to assess entrepreneurial traits and intention among undergraduate students at Catholic University of Health and Allied sciences -Mwanza, Tanzania. The cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in May 2021 at Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. Three hundred and thirty-one (331) undergraduates were selected by stratified random sampling. Pre-tested semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data. Data were fed into Microsoft excel and then exported to STATA version 14 for analysis and data were presented in frequencies, percentages and mean. The level of entrepreneurial traits of the students was moderate with overall mean of 3.6. Majority (285, 86.1%) of students thought of themselves as capable of opening and sustaining a business to success, reflecting positive feasibility and perceived themselves as people who willingly act on their individual decisions.The major motivating factor for entrepreneurial intention indicated by the respondents was “preference for personal creativity” (295, 89.1%). However, the major perceived barrier to starting their own businesses indicated by the respondents was “lack of funds to start” (268, 90%). This study showed that there was overall moderate level of entrepreneurial traits among the undergraduate students. The findings have shown that there is high intention and that students are interested to become entrepreneurs.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an emerging infectious disease caused by novel coronavirus and hence this pandemic has a great impact on the education system. Nursing students as part of the health team should know the coronavirus like other communicable diseases. Methods: A quantitative approach and cross-sectional survey research design used to assess the knowledge of Coronavirus among 145 nursing students of district Sirmaur selected through the convenient sampling technique. An online self-structured questionnaire used as a tool for data collection. Descriptive data analysis was done with SPSS (version 23).Results: The result of the study revealed that only 31.7% of students had good knowledge about COVID-19, and 68.3% had average knowledge. Conclusions: There is a need for intervention such as educational programs or pieces of training to educate about the pandemic and its prevention practices to undergraduate students to make our society more secure.

Aims: The scientific literature on Entrepreneurial Intention (EI) among agricultural university students in Sri Lanka is meager. Therefore, the focus of this study was to evaluate the EI and to understand what factors affect on EI of the final year undergraduate students of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Study Design: The study adopted a cross-sectional survey research design. A stratified simple random sample of 100 final year undergraduates that represented 50% of each of the three degree programs of the Faculty of Agriculture, university of Peradeniya were selected for the study. The primary data was collected through a self-administered structured questionnaire. Place and Duration of Study: Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka from October 2018 to February 2019. Methodology: The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) was used to measure the EI. Thus, it examined the influence of personal attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control factors on EI. Short-term risk taking, perceived structural support and social capital on business start-up were examined as additional variables to the theory. Results: The results revealed that each of the TPB variables significantly (P = 0.05) affect on EI, with an overall R2 = 0.606. Attitudes were the strongest predictor of EI, followed by subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. However, overall level of EI of the students was neutral. Awareness programmes, financial support, introducing and updating the entrepreneurial subjects were some major suggestions of the respondents to improve entrepreneurship among the students. Conclusion: Attitudes toward entrepreneurship is the strongest predictor of EI. However, overall EI of the students was neutral. Improving individual attitudes through motivational programmes, providing an approving nature of the staff towards entrepreneurship (subjective norms), mechanisms to develop entrepreneurial capabilities among students and linking entrepreneurship to the present curriculum, would be important to improve the EI of the students leading to a greater entrepreneurship.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating role of entrepreneurial intention (EI) in relation to the influence of the five dimensions of entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) on nascent behaviour.Design/methodology/approachThe study relies on a quantitative approach where primary data were collected from 294 final year undergraduate students at a public university in Zambia. The data were examined by using correlation, logistic regression and mediation analyses.FindingsThe findings indicate that each of the five dimensions of ESE is positively and significantly related with EI. Additionally, each of the ESE dimensions, except the financial aspect, is positively correlated with nascent behaviour. Finally, the results show that the influence of ESE dimensions on nascent behaviour is significantly mediated by intention.Research limitations/implicationsThe study took place in a public university in Zambia; more universities could be involved to improve the generalisability of the study conclusions.Practical implicationsThe study shows that the five ESE dimensions positively influence not only business start-up intention but also nascent behaviour. To motivate graduates’ involvement in business start-up, there is a need to tailor training and practical pedagogical approaches on entrepreneurship that are focussed on developing the five ESE dimensions.Originality/valueThis paper extends an emerging body of knowledge which has not been fully investigated in terms of the mediating role of intention on the relationships between dimensions of ESE and nascent behaviour. The study also makes a valuable contribution to the under-researched context of Zambia and African entrepreneurship.

Continuous development of technological innovations especially in the banking sector have stirred competition which has changed the way businesses operate resulting in the introduction of Unified Interface Payment (UPI) services. This study was conducted in order to analyse the adoption of UPI services through Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in Mysuru. Objectives of study were framed to determine the demographic factors that influence the practices of UPI by the customers, to examine the role of banks in integrating UPI services and products and to assess the various security issues affecting the usage of UPI services by Mysuru customers. Based on these objectives a structured questionnaire was prepared and primary data was collected from 165 respondents. Data was analysed making use of SPSS and other models namely Structural Equation Modeling with Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) Software. Finally the researchers identifies that there is a need for convergence of customer’s preference for safe and easy banking transactions. This study revealed that the customer’s model have to be well integrated for progress in UPI operations.

Aims To investigate the motivations for, and perceived benefits of, undertaking senior house officer (SHO) posts, and to explore the career pathways of those who do, examining trends in successive cohorts. Method Postal cross-sectional questionnaire survey of all dental and maxillofacial SHOs (DF2s) who had worked for two South London hospitals within the previous nine years (n=137). Respondents were grouped into three cohorts to enable responses to be examined in relation to respondents’ entry to their first SHO post. Results There were responses from 83 (61%) potential participants. The most frequent motivation for carrying out SHO posts from 79 (95%) of the respondents was the desire to ‘learn from experienced clinicians’. The most common perceived benefit reported by those who had completed posts at the time of the survey was ‘an improved understanding of the role of the hospital dental service’ from 68 (97%) of those who answered this question. Difficulty in securing a job in general dental practice was not reported as a notable motivating factor, either before or after the implementation of the new dental contract. ‘Fulfil approved training post requirements for postgraduate examinations’ reduced as a motivator from 28 (88%) for the earlier cohort of SHOs to nine (36%) for the more recent cohort. Fifty-four of 78 (69%) respondents declared a definite plan to seek admission to the General Dental Council Specialist Lists in future, 24 (83%) in the first cohort, compared with 11 (46%) in the last ( P=0.05). Of the males, 13 (52%) were significantly more likely to report that they were currently working in general practice compared with 15 (27%) females ( P=0.028). Conclusion The findings suggest that multiple benefits are identified from undertaking SHO posts. However, some of the motivations for undertaking SHO posts may have changed over the nine-year period investigated. Possible influences are discussed. This paper highlights the perceived benefits of junior training posts at a time of significant transition within the profession.

The aim of this study was to establish the role of organizational design in the organizational ambidexterity - performance relationship among large manufacturing firms (LMFs) in Kenya. The studies linking ambidexterity to organizational performance are few and with mixed findings. The few studies indicate that there is no clear ambidexterity - organizational performance relationship. The research was founded on dynamic capabilities and configurations theories. Based on the reviewed literature, a conceptual model and hypotheses were formulated. The study was guided by positivist philosophy. The population of the research was the entire 107 Kenyan large manufacturing firms (LMFs). Cross-sectional research design was used. Primary data in respect of predictor variables was used and was collected using a structured questionnaire. The respondents were the senior managers of the large manufacturing firms (LMFs) in Kenya; namely Chief Executive Officers/Managing Directors (CEOs/MDs) or General Managers (GMs), or Heads of departments (HODs). Descriptive statistics, correlations, linear, multiple and hierarchical regressions were applied in the data scrutiny and interpretation. The study results showed partial organizational design mediating role in the organizational ambidexterity - performance association of LMFs in Kenya. The study findings are useful to practitioners and managers of LMFs, policymakers in government as well as scholars and researchers. The study recommends further studies on the mediating role of organizational design, different variable operationalization, diversify respondents and context as well as longitudinal study.

Objetivo: identificar como o enfermeiro percebe a segurança do paciente na instituição de saúde em que atua. Metodologia: estudo descritivo, de corte transversal, realizado entre janeiro e fevereiro de 2016, em Dourados/MS, com 52,58% da população de 310 enfermeiros hospitalares. Aplicou-se questionário sociodemográfico com questões vinculadas à segurança do paciente, cujos dados foram submetidos à análise descritiva. Resultados: parte dos enfermeiros apontou menor segurança quanto aos procedimentos, cuidados e administração de medicamentos. Conclusão: compete à equipe multiprofissional atuar na promoção da segurança do paciente, sendo o enfermeiro o profissional apto a identificar e comunicar riscos iminentes, prevenindo a ocorrência de danos e promovendo saúde na sua integralidade, devido à assistência de enfermagem ocorrer ao longo das 24 horas do dia.Descritores: Segurança do paciente, Gerenciamento de risco, Papel do enfermeiro, Raciocínio clínico.PATIENT SAFETY IN THE PERPECTIVE OF NURSES: A MULTI PROFESSIONAL ISSUEObjective: to highlight how the institutional safety is in the perspective of nurses. O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar o preparo para atuação na Atenção Básica (AB), por parte de graduandos do último ano e docentes do curso de Fisioterapia de Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) pública e privadas de uma cidade de médio porte de Minas Gerais. Pesquisa transversal realizada por meio de entrevistas individuais com 64 graduandos e 28 docentes que responderam um questionário semiestruturado com aspectos sobre a atuação do fisioterapeuta para a AB. Os resultados revelaram que os graduandos acreditam que as disciplinas cursadas relacionadas a AB foram suficientes para atuar nesse nível de atenção, ao contrário dos docentes, que acreditam que seus discentes não estão aptos para intervir. A opinião dos graduandos que julgam o tempo de estágio na AB adequado foi bem próxima daqueles que não. Referente as atividades extraclasse relacionadas a AB, essas ainda são escassas. Os docentes conseguem fazer associações entre as disciplinas que ministra com a AB e durante sua formação tiveram disciplinas relacionadas, mas essas não forneceram bases para a prática. Espera-se que os achados contribuam para o direcionamento de ações no campo acadêmico, visando a proposição de mudanças nos currículos dos cursos, ampliação do conhecimento sobre esse nível de atenção e auxílio na formação de um profissional em consonância com os princípios do SUS e da AB, rompendo com o caráter estritamente reabilitador da profissão.PHYSIOTHERAPIST FORMATION FOR PRIMARY CAREABSTRACTThe present study had as objective to analyze the preparation for action in Primary Care (PC) by undergraduate students of the last year and professors of the physiotherapy course of Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) of public and private sectors of a medium-sized city of Minas Gerais. Cross-sectional research was carried out through individual interviews with 64 undergraduates and 28 teachers who answered a semi-structured questionnaire with aspects about the physiotherapist’s performance for PC. The results showed that undergraduates believe that the disciplines studied related to PC were sufficient to act at this level of attention, unlike the teachers, who believe that their students they are not able to intervene. The opinion of graduates judging the appropriate internship time in PC was very close to those who did not. Regarding extraclass activities related to PC, these are still scarce. Teachers are able to make associations between the disciplines that they minister with PC and during their formation had related disciplines, but these did not provide bases for the practice. It is hoped that the findings contribute to the direction of actions in the academic field, aiming at proposing changes in the curricula of the courses, expanding knowledge about this level of attention and assisting in the formation of a professional in harmony with the principles of the Single System of Health (SSH) and PC, breaking with the strictly rehabilitatingcharacter of the profession.KEYWORDS: Physical therapists. The study sought to assess the importance of classifying incubators based on the programs offered for optimum performance. Client selection criteria were assessed through three constructs namely: models that fit program goals, uniqueness of ideas, and standard selection tool. A mixed cross-sectional and causal design was adopted and a census was carried out targeting all the 51 incubators. Primary data was collected with an incubator program as a grouping/ cluster variable yielding a multilevel data structure with incubator centres nested in programs. Linear mixed effect models were fitted using Stata to assess the study objective taking into account the fixed effects for the incubator centre level (level-1) and random effects for the program level (level-2). The uniqueness of ideas was found to have a significant fixed effect on performance at level one while at level two, the study found significant random intercepts of incubator centre performance across the programs. Models that match program goals and standard selection tools were also found to have significant random slopes as level two random covariates in the model. Based on the findings of significant random slopes, the study concluded that incubator classification is key for client selection criteria and enhances incubator performance.
