Analysis of Debt Effect on Profitability of Manufacturing Companies in Indonesia

This study aims to examine whether short term debt has a negative effect on company profitability and to test whether long term debt has a negative effect on the profitability of manufacturing companies in Indonesia which are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2014-2018 period. This study has 1 dependent variable namely profitability and uses 2 independent variables namely short term debt and long term debt, and uses 2 control variables namely liquidity and firm size. This study uses secondary data with database collection techniques. The sample of this study was 432 companies in 5 years of research. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis through the application of SPSS 22. The results found that short term debt has a negative effect on company profitability and long term debt has a negative effect on company profitability. This shows that the lower the company's debt, the higher the profitability a company will get and otherwise.

This study aims to determine the effect of income tax expense and dividend policy on leverage policy at manufacturing companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange 2012-2016, This study uses secondary data in the form of financial statements. The research population is listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange 2012-2016. The sampling method used is purposive sampling with the sample of research amounted to 32 companies so that the research observation amounted to 160. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The result of the research shows that: (1) income tax expense has significant effect on leverage policy, (2) dividend policy has no effect on leverage policy, and (3) income tax expense and dividend policy simultaneously have significant effect on leverage policy.

This study aims to empirically examine the relationship between industry auditor specialization, auditor reputation, and audit tenure, to audit report lag in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015-2017. The population in this study are manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015-2017. The research sample consisted of 67 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2015-2017. The data used in this study are secondary data and sample selection using purposive sampling method. The analysis model uses multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that auditor industry specialization has a negative effect on audit report lag, auditor reputation has no effect on audit report lag, and audit tenure has a negative effect on audit report lag.

The research objective was to examine and analyze the effect of profitability and liquidity on firm value in companies corporated in LQ 45 and listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and test whether leverage can moderate the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. This research is causal research using secondary data. The population of this study is companies that are members of the LQ45 on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2007 to 2019. The method of determining the sample uses purposive sampling so that a sample of 10 companies is multiplied by 13 years of research to obtain 130 observations. The analysis technique used in this study uses multiple linear regression analysis and moderating tests with the R Studio tools. The results of this study simultaneously profitability and liquidity have a significant effect on firm value. The results partially profitability has a significant positive effect on firm value, liquidity has an insignificant negative effect on firm value. Meanwhile, for simultaneous moderating, the results show that leverage can moderate the relationship between profitability and liquidity simultaneously on firm value, and partially leverage cannot moderate the relationship between profitability and firm value. Leverage is not able to moderate the relationship between liquidity and firm value. Keywords: profitability, liquidity, leverage, firm value.

Earnings quality is earnings that correctly and accurately describes the company's operational profitability. Earnings quality in a company is very important to be analyzed. Companies that have high earnings quality will provide complete and transparent information and will not mislead users of financial statements. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of leverage, liquidity, profitability, conservatism and firm size on earnings quality. at companies registered in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2017 to 2020. The population in this study are all manufacturing companies that have been listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2017 to 2020, obtaining a population of 704 companies. This research method uses purposive sampling, the sample was obtained in accordance with predetermined criteria and obtained data as many as 326 companies. The type of data used in this research is secondary data. The analytical technique used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis. This study obtained the results that leverage as measured by (DAR), firm size as measured by (Size), and liquidity as measured by (QR) have no significant effect on earnings quality. Meanwhile, profitability as measured by (ROA) and conservatism as measured by (CON_ACC) have a significant effect in a positive direction on earnings quality.

Income smoothing is basically a management strategy to reduce fluctuating income levels. This study aims to determine the effect of company size, leverage and profitability on income smoothing in companies listed on the LQ45 Index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2017-2019 period. It was carried out on companies listed on the LQ45 Index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017-2019. Sampling was conducted by utilizing purposive sampling and obtained 11 companies, from which 33 data were collected. The analysis technique used was multiple linear regression analysis. Results showed that company size, leverage and profitability simultaneously can affect income smoothing of a company. Company size and profitability partially have a positive effect on income smoothing, while leverage has a negative effect on income smoothing.

The ownership structure and financial factors are considered influential to the dividend policy of a company. Thus the aim of this study is to examine the effects of institutional ownership, managerial ownership, liquidity, leverage, and profitability on dividend policy. This study uses quantitative approach and analyzes samples taken from the financial statements of 161 different manufacturing companies listed in the Indonesian Stock Exchange between 2015-2017. These samples are then selected using purposive random sampling in which only 49 samples fit the criteria. The data analysis technique used is the multiple linear regression analysis technique. This study concludes that institutional ownership, managerial ownership, liquidity, and profitability have positive and significant effects on dividend policy. <p>Tax is an important element in sustaining the government budget and an obligation that must be fulfilled by taxpayers, both individual and legal entity. The unfulfilled tax revenue target in Indonesia is caused by several factors. One of them is that there is an indication that company as the taxpayer of a legal entity commits tax aggressiveness. There is a difference of interest between the company and the government that causes the company to arrange a plan for reducing the cost of corporate taxes both legally and illegally. This study aims to obtain empirical evidence of the influence of audit committee competence, audit committee independence, independent commissioner and leverage on tax aggressiveness. The object in this study was manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2013-2016. The sample used in this study was 176 companies selected by purposive sample by using multiple linear regression analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the audit committee competence and independent commissioner variables have no effect on tax aggressiveness, audit committee independence has a negative effect on tax aggressiveness, and leverage has a positive effect on tax aggressiveness.</p>

The purposeof this study was to examine the effect of Investement Opportunity Set (IOS), dividend policy, and opportunistic behavior on firm value at Manufacturing Companies listed on Stock Exchange in 2015-2018. This study used secondary data from the company’s annual report. The samplimg method in this study used purposive sampling, the final sample obtained was 29 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015-2018. The analysis in this study used multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the Investment Opportunity Set (IOS) used price proxy (MBVE) and investment proxy (CAPBVA) have a significant positive effect on firm value, while the dividen policy and opportunistic behavior have a negative effect on firm value but not significant.

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of profitability, liquidity and growth rates on dividend policy. The research population was focused on manufacturing companies in the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2013-2017, totaling 139 companies. Based on the sampling criteria with nonprobability sampling method with purposive sampling technique obtained a sample of 22 companies with a time of observation for 5 years, so that the number of observations obtained as many as 110 observations. The analysis technique used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis show that profitability and liquidity have a significant positive effect on dividend policy in manufacturing companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, while the growth rate has a significant negative effect on dividend policy in manufacturing companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
