In connection with the active growth of poultry processing, the issue of rational use of poultry by-products is urgent. The paper proposes hydrolysis of the gizzards of broiler chickens and hens of the parent stock with bifidobacteria liquid concentrate (BLC) and Propionix liquid concentrated starter culture (Propionix LCSC). The effect of enzymatic treatment on changes in the structural components of the gizzards was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and determination of the dispersed composition. As a result of the research, the multiple regression equations and the response surfaces were obtained, which describe the optimal parameters of the gizzard´s hydrolysis process. The temperature and the time of hydrolysis are factors that have a significant effect on the degree of hydrolysis. The results of the structural and microscopic analysis confirm the high hydrolysability of the by-products by changing its structure and increasing the number of smaller protein particles. It was found experimentally that the gizzards of hens are more susceptible to the action of probiotic microorganisms’ enzymes compared to the gizzards of broiler chickens.

By-products are the potential source of animal protein obtained from brood chickens and egg-laying hens. Certain by-products like gizzards and combs are quite tough and possess low nutritional and biological value due to their high content of connective tissue. Biotechnological processing improves the quality parameters of collagen-containing by-products. In this article a probiotic starter culture of propionic acid bacteria, which have high proteolytic activity, was used to treat the gizzards and combs of brood chickens. Before processing of by-products with starter culture, physical and chemical parameters and the yield of by-products in relation to poultry live weight were analyzed and recorded. 5%, 10% and 15% starter culture were added to the tested samples of chopped by-products, the samples were kept at a temperature of 30 °C, and every 4 hours the following functional and technological parameters were monitored: moisture binding capacity, water holding capacity (MBC and WHC) and yield of the product after heat treatment. The results proved that increase of starter culture amount and longer exposure of by-products to hydrolysis led to decrease of functional and technological parameters values, but for the combs those parameters remained at a sufficiently high level compared to the gizzards, as the gizzards were exposed to more intense hydrolysis than combs. The decrease in the pH value correlated with the dynamics of MBC and WHC changes; and dynamics of the product yield after the heat treatment. Also the stained histological preparations were studied in order to assess the influence of biotechnological processing on by-products microstructure, where significant differences were found in the morphological structure of muscle and collagen fibers of hydrolysates of combs and gizzards exposed to action of bacterial concentrate. The results of rheological studies showed that hydrolyzed chicken combs differed from gizzards; the combs were denser and featured more elastic structure due to a lower degree of hydrolysis by bacterial enzymes. In general, the properties of collagen-containing by-products (muscular gizzards and combs) change significantly after being exposed to enzymes of propionic acid bacteria.

Background: In Vietnam, animal feed mainly depends on imported raw materials, while available agro-industrial by-products are often released into the environment and only a its unsubstantial portion used as an animal feed. Therefore, efficient use of these by-products as animal feed is essential. This work aimed to evaluate the effect of dietary levels of rice distiller’s dried grain (Rice DDG) on broiler performance, meat yield and meat quality. Methods: The research was conducted at the experimental station, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Vietnam, from May to September 2020. A total of 240 a day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned into 4 groups with 3 replications to receive 4 diets with different levels of RDDG at 0, 5, 8 and 10% for 14 weeks. Growth, meat yield and meat quality were estimated. Result: ADG was higher in broiler chickens fed diets with rice DDG compared to that in control diet at 12 and 14 weeks (P less than 0.05) while ADFI and FCR were not affected by the diets. There were significantly no differences in meat yield and quality among the diets. In conclusion, rice DDG could be used to partially replace main ingredients in chicken diets.

This study was aimed to determine the effects of protease supplementation in diets with agricultural-livestock by products on the growth performance in broiler chickens. The commercial protease used in current study was produced by Bacillus licheniformis which based on keratinase. The treatment diets were a control basal diet without agricultural-livestock by-products and protease supplementation (P1); P1 + 0.05% protease; basal diet with meat bone meal (MBM) and distiller’s dried grain with soluble (DDGS) suppementation (P3); P3 + 0.05% protease (P4); basal diet with hydrolized chicken feather meal (HCFM) and DDGS supplementation (P5); P5 + 0.05% protease. The obtained data were statistically analyzed using Complete Randomized Design, and analyzed subsequently by Orthogonal Contrats Test. Results showed that protease supplementation in the diets containing agricultural-livestock by-products did not affect growth performance of broiler chickens in starter phase and overall age phase. However, in diets containing MBM, protease supplementation reduced the nett gain and feed conversion ratio (FCR) in finisher phase (P<0.05). In diets containing HCFM, protease supplementation increased nett gain and FCR (P<0.05), compared to those of containing MBM. It could be concluded that qualified HCFM, MBM, and DDGS can be used as alternatives for protein-energy source feed stuffs in starter phase, as they did not reduce growth performance of broiler chickens. Protease used in this study might be more effective in diets containing HCFM than those of containing MBM and DDGS.Keywords: Agricultural-livestock by-products, Broilers chickens, Growth performance, Protease.

The authors studied the growth characteristics (morphophysiological indicators) of broilers’ digestive organs when using Pharmatan in the diet at doses of 0.025; 0.05 and 0.075%. For the study, three medium-weight broiler chickens were selected – on a daily basis for the first three days, then on a weekly basis. The mass of the stomach, individual intestines, the mass of internal organs, and the coefficient of growth rate were determined according to Brody. To study the relative growth rate, the simple allometry formula y = axb was used. It has been established that the most intensive growth of the digestive organs is observed in the first week of broiler life and consists in the stimulated growth of the intestine, especially the cecum. Later on, the growth of the digestive organs in birds of the control group increases and becomes equal to or higher than in broilers of the experimental group. In general, for 42 days of the experiment, the growth rate of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract is practically the same in the birds of the experimental and control groups. The parameters of the regression equations indicate significant differences in the growth of individual organs of the digestive tube during the individual development of broilers. In the experimental groups of broilers, almost all intestinal organs grow quite intensively (b = 1.325–1.783) during the first week of raising, with relatively low values of determination coefficients (cecum – R2 = 0.355; jejunum – R2 = 0.745). High morphological values of 7-day-old birds treated with Pharmatan form the basis for growing broilers with a higher live weight.

Abstract The Korean poultry industry produces more than 4,000 tons of hatchery by-products (HBPs) every year. There is an increasing interest in the use of HBPs as a feed ingredient in The Korean feed industry. However, limited information regarding nutritional values for HBPs has been available. Thus, we conducted an experiment to measure apparent ileal digestibility (AID) and standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of amino acids (AAs) in 4 different HBPs for broiler chickens. Four HBPs included infertile eggs (IFE), unhatched eggs (UHE), low grade and dead chicks (LDC), and mixture (MIX) containing 55% IFE, 10% UHE, 10% LDC, and 25% hatched eggshells. A total of three-hundred-thirty-six 21-d-old Ross 308 broiler chickens were randomly allotted to 1 of 4 dietary treatments with 7 replicates per treatment. Each diet contained individual HBP as a sole source of AAs. Additional 125 birds were used to estimate ileal endogenous losses of AAs. Results indicated that the AID and SID of 5 essential AAs (Arg, Met, Trp, His, and Val) for LDC were greatest (P &lt; 0.05), but those (Arg, Met, and Trp) for MIX were the least (P &lt; 0.05) among 4 HBPs. The AID and SID of most AAs in IFE were comparable to those in UHE. However, the AID and SID of 3 essential AAs (Lys, Leu, and Phe) were not different among 4 HBPs. The average AID and SID of both essential and nonessential AAs (18 AAs) for LDC were greatest (P &lt; 0.05), but those for MIX were the least (P &lt; 0.05) among 4 HBPs. In conclusion, HBPs used in this experiment contain high amounts of digestible AAs, which are comparable to other animal by-products. Generally, AAs in LDC are more digestible than AAs in other 3 HBPs (UHE, IFE, and MIX).

AbstractTuna by-products were subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis with Alcalase (enzyme to substrate ratio 1 : 200 w/w; 60 °C; pH 6.5, 120 min) rendering a tuna protein hydrolysate (TPH) with 9.24 % degree of hydrolysis (DH). The antioxidant capacity of TPH determined by the methods of ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) and Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) were similar and 10 times lower than the result obtained by oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC). The total amino acid profile indicated that 42.15 % are composed of hydrophobic amino acids and 7.7 % of aromatics, with leucine being found in the highest quantity (17.85 %). The fatty acid profile of the oil recovered by centrifugation of the TPH – as determined by a gas chromatograph – was characterized by a high percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) (39.06 %), mainly represented by the fatty acids ω3, docosahexaenoic acid (27.15 %) and eicosapentaenoic acid (6.05 %). The simultaneous recovery of unsaturated fatty acids and antioxidant peptides can add value to tuna by-products, assisting in the efficient management of fishing industry waste.

SUMMARYTwo experiments were performed for evaluating calibration curve (CC) and comparing negative and positive controls (CNP) as a major method for estimating of phytase phosphorus equivalence for layer and broiler chickens. In the first and second experiments, 360 Hy-line W-36 layer hens and 525 day-old Ross-308 broiler chickens were used in a complete randomized design, respectively. Evaluated methods were setting the two regression equations for NPP-supplemented and phytase supplemented treatments with two sub-methods, include calibration curve (CC) or exclude the amount of phosphorus content of basal diet (CC-BD) in calculation, and exploring enzyme equivalency by comparing phosphorus deficient diet as an negative and supplemented diet by inorganic phosphorus sources as a positive control group (CNP). Experiment one included nine treatments (200, 300, 400 and 500 FTU/kg phytase was added to a phosphorus deficient basal diet contained 0.12% AvP, the rest four treatments were included basal diet supplemented with 0.20, 0.27, 0.35 and 0.43% AvP). Experiment two included seven treatments (a basal P deficient diet contained 0.27% AvP, and two increasing levels of AvP, 0.32 and 0.37%, and four doses of phytase 200, 300, 400 and 500 FTU/kg added to basal diet). Each treatment in the both experiments replicated five times. Results indicated that methods of estimation had a significant effect on phosphorus equivalence estimation (P<0.0001). Fitted regression equations considering P content of basal diet (CC-BD) estimated rational values than those ignore it (CC) (0.161% vs 0.365% and 0.432% vs 0.564% for 500 FTU/kg phytase for broiler chicken and layer hens, respectively) (P<0.0001). On average, among three methods used, CC method had the highest estimated values both in broiler chickens and layer hens (p<0.0001). Regardless of mathematical method, there were different significant values for different strains (layer, 0.381% and broiler, 0.179%) (P<0.0001), but not for different traits served as response criteria (P>0.05). In conclusion, the phosphorus equivalent value of enzyme varies according to the estimation methods and strain. Hence, using matrix values of enzyme for accurate feed formulation depend on a variety of circumstances and decision making requires comprehensive information.

Abstract The research is devoted to the study of the influence of the modern antioxidant of the flavonoid group ‘Dihydroquercetin’ as part of the feed combination on the hematological profile and biochemical parameters of the blood of broiler chickens of the KOBB-500 cross. The content of hemoglobin and erythrocytes in the blood of broilers receiving dihydroquercetin increased, which indicates an increase in the intensity of redox processes in the body. The number of leukocytes in all groups was normal, but in the experimental groups their decrease was noted, which indicates the therapeutic and immunostimulating effect of the drug. Evaluation of protein metabolism by the content of total protein and the fraction of albumin in the blood serum showed its positive dynamics within the normal physiological values, which characterizes an increase in the intensity of assimilation processes in the bird’s body. The metabolism of carbohydrates was assessed by the content of glucose in it, and a decrease in its level indicates its increased consumption as an energy component for metabolic processes associated with intensive growth of chickens. An increase in the activity of alkaline phosphatase by 1.3-1.8 times is associated with the active growth of chickens.

ABSTRAK. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh tingkat penggunaan tepung limbah jus jeruk (Citrus sinensis) dalam ransum terhadap kualitas karkas (bobot potong, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, kolesterol karkas, bobot lemak abdomen) dan konsumsi ransum ayam broiler. Materi yang digunakan adalah ayam broiler umur satu hari unsex, strain Arbor Acres CP 707 sebanyak 200 ekor. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap terdiri 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan masing-masing ulangan terdiri dari 10 ekor ayam. Perlakuan terdiri dari P0 = Ransum mengandung 0% tepung limbah jus jeruk (kontrol positif); P1 = Ransum mengandung 0% tepung limbah jus dengan penambahan basitrasin 0,02% (kontrol negatif); P2 = jeruk mengandung 5% tepung limbah jus jeruk; P3 = Ransum mengandung 10% tepung limbah jus jeruk; P4 = Ransum 15% tepung limbah jus jeruk. Variabel yang diamati adalah kualitas karkas (bobot potong, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, kolesterol karkas, lemak abdomen) dan konsumsi ransum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan tepung limbah jus jeruk dalam ransum nyata (P0,05) menurunkan konsumsi ransum, bobot potong, bobot karkas, kolesterol karkas dan bobot lemak abdomen, tetapi penggunaan tepung limbah jus jeruk dalam ransum tidak mempengaruhi persentase karkas. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan tepung limbah jus jeruk (Citrus sinensis) dapat digunakan sampai taraf 5% dalam ransum ayam broiler. (The use of orange (citrus sinensis) juice by products in the ration on carcass quality of broiler chickens) ABSTRACT. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of orange (Citrus sinensis) juice by products in rations on (carcass quality) ; weight of slaughter, carcass weight, carcasspercentages, abdominal fat weight and feed intake of broiler chicks. A total of two hundred unsexed 1 d-old chicks (Arbor Acres CP-707) used. The design used was Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications of each replication consisting of 10 chickens. Feed treatment consisted of P0 = 0% orange juice waste flour (positive control); P1 = 0% waste juice flour with 0.02% basitratin addition (negative control); P2 = 5% orange juice flour waste; P3 = 10% orange juice flour waste; P4 = 15% orange juice flour waste. The variables observed were carcass quality (cut weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage, carcass cholesterol, abdominal fat) and ration consumption..The results showed that the use of orange juice flour in the ration significantly influenced (P 0.05) in reducing the consumption of ration, cut weight, carcass weight, carcass cholesterol and abdominal fat weight, but the use of orange juice waste flour in the ration did not affect the percentage of carcass . As a conclusion is the use of orange juice waste flour (Citrus sinensis) can be used to a level of 5% in broiler chicken rations.

The mathematical processing of experimental data obtained during the drying of spherical form of capillary-porous materials on a convective drying bench allows us to determine the influence of various factors on the process. The main factors influencing the kinetics of drying of capillary-porous materials of spherical shape are the temperature and velocity of the heat carrier, as well as the initial moisture content of the material. For each factor, the variation levels corresponding to the optimal conditions for conducting experimental studies with low-temperature drying conditions are recommended. For a mathematical description of the duration of drying of capillary-porous materials, we use an orthogonal composite plan of the second order. As a result, the proposed mathematical model of the process obtained regression equations and the response surface of the duration of drying of capillary-porous materials of spherical shape. The obtained regression equations of the drying time give a detailed description of the influence of both individual and joint actions of factors, the significance of these parameters is determined by the corresponding coefficients according to Student's criterion. Also, the adequacy of the mathematical model according to Fisher's criterion, which corresponds to the real object, is checked. The construction of the response surfaces of the drying time of capillary-porous materials indicates the nature of the effect of these factors in the given range of variation.
