This article examines the process of transition of the higher education system to distance learning in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the uniform transition to distance learning, higher education institutions differ in the strategy of its organization. As a result, an analysis was made of the country's higher educational institutions and the measures they have taken to transfer teachers and students to online education. The analysis highlighted a number of challenges faced by higher education institutions during the transition to a new format of distance learning, including the lack of infrastructure and material and technical base, difficulties in adapting training materials to the new format, lack of staff qualifications and experience of remote work. Taking into account the above problems, the pandemic showed the need for additional budgetary funds for the development of a digital educational environment, professional development of the teaching staff, as well as for the creation of jobs at universities for students who lost their jobs during the crisis, which allowed them to pay for tuition and related costs. Thus, given all the abovementioned difficulties in the transition to distance learning, for the full functioning of higher education institutions and to prevent a potential increase in unemployment, an increase in costs is necessary. This article also discusses proposals on the need to make appropriate changes in management and financial models in the field of education.

Introduction. The development of information technologies, the need to move to blended or distance learning and digitalization of education have caused considerable increasing of online communication and interaction between students and teachers of higher education institutions recently. The introduction of netiquette in the educational process of a modern higher education institution in general and in the practice of learning foreign languages in particular becomes more and more relevant. Many educators, including foreign language teachers, continue to use online tools of communication that have proven to be effective in blended or distance learning format. One of such tools for foreign language teachers is found to be mobile applications for instant messaging, or messengers. The purpose of the paper is to summarize the experience gained in the introduction of netiquette and the use of messengers in the context of teaching foreign languages in higher education institutions of Ukraine. Learning the netiquette and its introduction into educational process in this context is considered as one of the ways to avoid violations and use modern materials when teaching foreign languages. The following research methods as a survey, method of analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature and survey results are used. Results. The approaches of scientists to the culture of communication of participants in the educational process, interpreting the concept of "netiquette", the use of messengers in higher education and teaching of foreign languages in particular are covered. The results of the survey dedicated to the use of messengers in the educational process in which seventy two foreign language teachers from thirteen institutions of higher education of Ukraine took part are analyzed. Using messengers in the educational process was found to be quite common in the practice of teaching foreign languages both in terms of classroom management and as a learning tool. Despite the popularity, convenience and certain advantages of using messengers, there are some negative situations that can be considered as violations of netiquette. The reasons for students' violations may be lack of knowledge about netiquette rules, insufficient level of development of digital competence and practice of online communication in the educational environment. The introduction of netiquette guidelines at the beginning of a foreign language course can help teachers prevent violations. However, topics related to netiquette in the foreign language course in domestic higher education institutions are not sufficiently studied. Originality. The scientific originality of the research results is based on the fact that learning and introduction of netiquette has not been considered in the context of teaching foreign language yet. Despite netiquette is a part of digital competence, it has not received sufficient coverage in methodology of teaching foreign languages. Conclusion. The research has shown that the study of netiquette rules in a foreign language course can contribute to development of students' digital competence on the basis of modern language material. The development and establishment of netiquette guidelines to prevent its violations is appropriate in terms of methods of organizing the educational process in foreign languages, taking into account the increase of its online part in modern conditions.

Online learning is now reaching the core, helping to transform higher education and moving beyond isolated efforts to pervasive influence and change. The dichotomy of distance learning vs. campus-based education has broken down, and forward-looking senior administrators have embraced new approaches to education that contain the elements of successful online education while cultivating the community-building and branding of site-based education, particularly to promote enriched faculty and program development. Rather than being isolated in a distance learning task force or continuing education program, the conversations about online learning now occur—or need to occur—at the executive level and throughout other levels and structures.

There has been much research done on online learning including research on online educational activities and methods. The use of technology is gaining rising importance in higher education due to the benefits that it brings. In terms of adopting new technologies to teaching, new forms of teaching, such as massive open online courses (MOOCs), are increasingly seen as a feasible future form of learning. The importance of MOOCs in higher education has caused debates in the computing education research. This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the pedagogical implications of MOOCs to higher education. Research in MOOCs is of vital importance because these courses may offer meaningful learning opportunities for those otherwise impossible through means of distance learning. The concepts of e-learning, online learning and distance learning have been previously addressed where previous research has indicated that the integration of online technologies to higher education do not automatically support learning. Many education institutions still question the sustainability of courses using extensive online technologies in higher education. The authors open up new research opportunities in a student-centered design in MOOCs incorporating a personalized learning environment to online education.

Stakeholders and administrators of academic institutions have no choice but to use internet technology, and therefore online learning, to continue academic activities in all institutions around the world. This paper aims to determine if students in higher educational institutions are happy with technology-assisted Online Education during COVID-19 Pandemic. The study used an online survey to find out how students are coping with online education, which has been around for years but is still not widely used, and how happy they are with it. Methodology: Convenience sampling was employed to collect data for the analysis because it is a non-probability sampling methodology. The aim of using this method is to come up with hypotheses and conduct exploratory research on the topic. It also addresses budget and time constraints. As participants in this research, students from higher education institutions responded to the survey. Higher education students are preferred because they have already been exposed to technology, online platforms, and the ability to adapt, which is the essence of remote learning. Findings/Result: The study's findings show that adding online education was a good decision since the majority of students surveyed supported it in this epidemic since it allowed them to complete their studies. In terms of satisfaction with online education, the study discovered that there is a gender divide. Students are self-sufficient in terms of the devices they use to take online classes, with a large percentage of students attending online classes using their smartphones. Synchronous delivery options, such as live classes, are not preferred by online educators. Female students spend more time on online education activities than male students. Finally, the study discovered that the most significant barrier to students participating in online education is a lack of internet connectivity in both rural and suburban settings. Originality: This study examines how satisfied students are with technology-assisted online education at higher education institutions. The results of this study would be very useful to the administrators of higher education institutions in making potential emergency decisions about the planning of online learning services for students from various backgrounds. Paper Type: Exploratory data analysis (EDA). This type is used to comprehend and summarize the contents of a dataset, usually to answer a particular query or to prepare for more sophisticated statistical modeling in subsequent stages of data analysis.
