Background: Frozen shoulder is a joint disorder that causes limited motion of the shoulder joint in all directions of movement, causing both physical and functional problems. This activity aims to see the benefits of manual therapy and pendular codman exercises in increasing the activity of frozen patients at Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital in 2019. Manual therapy methods and codman pendular exercises were given to 24 patients at the Physiotherapy Clinic of Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital. The measuring instrument used to measure the functional activity ability of the shoulder is the index of shoulder pain and disability with the 0% -60% category being improving and 61% -100% being worse. Based on the results obtained during manual therapy and codman pendular exercise, it shows that the ability of the patient's shoulder functional activity has increased. where manual therapy and pendular codman exercise from 16 samples, the ability of shoulder functional activity with a SPADI value of 100% decreased and after manual therapy and pendular codman exercises for 3 times decreased to 12.5% ​​decreased and 87.5% improved. Based on these data it can be neglected that there is an effect of offering manual therapy exercises and pendular codman in increasing the patient's shoulder functional activity by 87.5%

ABSTRACT Background: Frozen shoulder is a shoulder joint disorder that occurs in 2-5% of the world’s total population and causes pain, causing shoulder joint motion to be limited. Limited range of shoulder joint motion in frozen shoulder causing diminished functional activity ability. This research aims to determine the effect of giving training on scapula patterns to increase the range of shoulder movement in frozen shoulder case. Subjects and Method: This was an experimental study with one groups pre and posttest design. This study was conducted for 4 weeks with 8 times treatment at RSAL Dr. Ramelan Surabaya. The subjects selected in this study were six persons based on criteria for inclusion and exclusion. The dependent variable was shoulder range of motion. The independent variable was scapular pattern exercise. The data were collected by goniometer instrument and analyzed by paired T test. Results: Paired T test showed that shoulder range of motion exorotation (p= 0.001; 95% CI= -15.95 to -7.38) (Mean= 11.67; SD= 4.08), shoulder range of motion abduction (p< 0.001; 95% CI= -50.75 to -39.25) (Mean= 45.00; SD= 5.48), shoulder range of motion endorotation (p< 0.001, 95% CI= -29.73 to -15.27) (Mean= 22.50; SD= 6.89). Conclusion: Scapular pattern exercise can be recommended as a therapy to increase the range of motion of the shoulder joint in cases of frozen shoulder. Background: Frozen shoulder is a condition of the shoulder joint that experiences inflammation, pain, adhesions, atrophyand shortening of the joint capsule resulting in limited motion. In frozen shoulder patients, the limited range of motion ofthe shoulder joint can affect and reduce functional ability. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the limitedarea of motion of the shoulder joint with the functional ability of frozen shoulder patients at the Medical RehabilitationInstallation Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Methods: This study was an observational analytic study, correlationtest, with a cross sectional design. There were 29 frozen shoulder patients who met the inclusion criteria in the MedicalRehabilitation Installation Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in November 2018 was taken as a sample using consecutivesampling techniques. Functional ability was assessed using the quickDASH questionnaire and the area of motion wasmeasured using a goniometer, then analyzed. Results: The results of the correlation test showed significant resultsbetween functional abilities and the area of motion of the shoulder joints. Active flexion (p = 0.000; r = -0.669), activeextension (p = 0.004; r = -0.520), active abduction (p = 0.000; r = -0.663), active adduction (p = 0.022; r = -0.423 ), passiveflexion (p = 0.001; r = -0.589), passive extension (p = 0.002; r = -0.543), passive abduction (p = 0.000; r = -0.676), passiveadduction (p = 0.038; r = -0.388). Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between limited joint motion andfunctional ability in frozen shoulder patients at the Medical Rehabilitation Installation of Dr. Mohammad HoesinPalembang

Avabahuka is a disease of Amsasandhi ( Shoulder joint ) . Acharya Sushruta have described Avabahuka as a one of the type of Vata Vyadhi. It is one of the commonest musculoskeletal disorder . In Avabahuka,Vata gets lodged at the root of shoulder,subsequently constricting the veins and producing the loss of movements of the shoulder . Avabahuka can be corelate with Frozen shoulder having same complaints. Acharya Sushruta have mentioned Agnikarma for the treatment of Avabahuka

Frozen shoulder is a common clinical shoulder condition. Measuring the degree of shoulder joint movement is crucial to the rehabilitation process. Such measurements can be used to evaluate the severity of patients’ condition, establish rehabilitation goals and appropriate activity difficulty levels, and understand the effects of rehabilitation. Currently, measurements of the shoulder joint movement degree are typically conducted by therapists using a protractor. However, along with the growth of telerehabilitation, measuring the shoulder joint mobility on patients’ own at home will be needed. In this study, wireless inertial sensors were combined with the virtual reality interactive technology to provide an innovative shoulder joint mobility self-measurement system that can enable patients to measure their performance of four shoulder joint movements on their own at home. Pilot clinical trials were conducted with 25 patients to confirm the feasibility of the system. In addition, the results of correlation and differential analyses compared with the results of traditional measurement methods exhibited a high correlation, verifying the accuracy of the proposed system. Moreover, according to interviews with patients, they are confident in their ability to measure shoulder joint mobility themselves.

Abstract Background: Frozen shoulder (FS) is a prevalent musculoskeletal condition characterized by an often prolonged pain, disability and limited active and passive range of motion (ROM), however its management remains challenging yet. The objective of this trial was to compare the efficacy of acromioclavicular joint mobilization and physical therapy versus physical therapy in treatment of FS.Methods: In this single-blind randomized clinical trial, patients with diagnosis of FS were randomly allocated into mobilization + physical therapy (n=28) as experiment group, and physical therapy (n=28) as control group in two outpatient clinics of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Iran. The primary outcomes were self-reported shoulder pain-related disability measured by the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) questionnaire and goniometric assessment of shoulder ROM. The secondary outcome was the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Measures were performed at the baseline, immediately and one month after beginning the treatments.Results: Totally 51 patients with 25.73 ± 6.88 years old of age completed the study and their data were analyzed. VAS, SPADI, pain and disability improved more significantly in experiment group compared to control group immediately [-4.63 (-5.58- -3.67) vs. -2.22 (-2.96- -1.47), p<0.001; -23.08 (-28.63- -17.53) vs. -13.04 (-17.93- -8.16), p=0.008; -26.00 (-31.71- -20.29) vs. -16.35 (-23.39- -9.31), p=0.034 and -21.25 (-29.11- -13.39) vs. -10.98 (-17.53- -4.43), p=0.042, respectively] and one month after beginning of treatment [-5.58 (-6.45- -4.72) vs. -3.61 (-4.60- -2.62), p<0.001; -33.43 (-40.85- -26.01) vs. -20.03 (-26.00- -14.07), p=0.001; --42.83 (-49.09- -36.57) vs. -25.57 (-33.92- -17.21), p<0.001 and -27.55 (-36.19- -15.94) vs. -16.58 (-24.48- -8.67), p=0.041, respectively]. Active abduction ROM was also improved more significantly immediately after treatment in experiment group compared to control group [25.83 (11.45- 40.13) vs. 10.17 (1.02- 19.15), p=0.025], however there were no significant differences between two groups concerning other measured ROMs immediately and one month after treatment (all p>0.05). Conclusions: Acromioclavicular mobilization along with conventional physical therapy was more efficient in decreasing pain and disability and improving active abduction ROM compared to physical therapy in patients with FS. Abstract Background The shoulder joint is the most commonly injured joint in CrossFit practitioners, because of the high intensity and loads associated with this sport. Despite the large number of clinical cases, there is a shortage of studies that investigate influence of biomechanical aspects of upper limbs' injuries on CrossFit practitioners. This study hypothesized that there would be a difference in function, strength, and muscle activation between Crossfit practitioners with and without shoulder pain. Methods We divided 79 Crossfit practitioners into two groups according to whether they reported pain (n = 29) or no pain (n = 50) in the shoulder during Crossfit training. Muscle function, strength, and activation were assessed using the Disability Arm, Shoulder and Hand function questionnaire, Upper Quarter Y Balance Test and Closed Kinetic Chain Upper Extremity Stability Test shoulder tests, isometric muscle strength assessment by manual dynamometry and muscle activation by surface electromyography and pain report. Results The function based on questionnaire was associated with pain (p = 0.004). We observed a statistically significant difference between the two groups only in the surface electromyography activity of the lower trapezius, and in the variables of shoulder pain and function (p = 0.038). Conclusion Crossfit practitioners with shoulder pain occurring during training showed good function and stability of the shoulder joint, but there was a reduction in the activation of stabilizing muscles, especially the lower trapezius. Adhesive Capsulitis is a debilitating condition which causes the capsule of the Gleno-humeral joint to get thickened and contracted progressively. The prevalence of the disease is much higher in the middle aged and elderly community. It is characterized by pain in the shoulder, and advance towards the restriction of the active and passive glenohumeral motions and thereby obstructing the overall functional activities of the daily living. The effectiveness of various non-operative methods in the treatment of Adhesive Capsulitis has been demonstrated in the literature. Corticosteroid injections and the oral medications are known to be alleviating the pain levels and the inflammatory reactions but not the mobility of the affected joint. Joint mobilization techniques, electrotherapeutic modalities and other manual treatment methods are also found to be effective. In summary, this review focuses on the pathophysiology of the adhesive capsulitis, stages of the condition progress and various manual therapy interventions. Abstract Background: Subscapular abscess is a rare condition usually secondary to immunocompromised state and recent infection. Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is the most common etiologic agent. To the best of our knowledge, we present the first case of a patient with a frozen shoulder performing manual therapy, which resulted in an Escherichia coli subscapular abscess.Case presentation: A 72-year-old male was referred from the respiratory department with pain and a limited range of motion in the left shoulder. He complained that the pain was exacerbated with popping sound during manual therapy for frozen shoulder two weeks ago. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large intramuscular complicated fluid collection at the level of the subscapularis muscle 10.0 × 5.2 × 11 cm in size, and a bloody but turbid pus-like discharge was observed upon aspiration. He underwent urgent surgical drainage. The cultures from the abscess fluid revealed extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (-) E. coli. After 4 weeks of Ceftazidime intravenous treatment, symptoms of the patient had improved. Conclusions: This case highlights the risks of aggressive manual therapy in severe frozen shoulder. It also presents a clinical scenario in which practitioners of manual therapy in frozen shoulder should be aware of the risk of subscapular abscess in patients undergoing recent infection therapy

Review question / Objective: Shoulder pain is a common musculoskeletal disorder prompting many patients to seek treatment. Thermotherapy is a common treatment for shoulder which has been widely used in hospitals. But its efficiency has not been scientifically and methodically evaluated. This protocol aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Thermotherapy for treating shoulder pain. Information sources: Eight databases will be searched from their inception to October 2021. They are as follows: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials.gov, China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database (CNKI), Weipu Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals (VIP), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), and Wanfang Database. There will be no limitation to study publication status or language. The search terms include shoulder impingement syndrome, rotator cuff, bursitis, adhesive capsulitis, frozen shoulder, shoulder pain, thermotherapy, diathermy, heat therapy, Moxibustion, and RCTs. The equivalent search words will be used in the Chinese databases.
