Cost structuring of new technology is a critical mission which needs to be developed systematically to get accurate cost estimation. In this research a new approach was proposed and developed for cost structuring a new process. Cost modeling roadmap was proposed to guide the development of genetic cost model by integrating different cost estimating methods and supporting the optimum solution by using statistical techniques in modeling the cost in high speed hard turning, then by building logical relationships between the different effective variables through three levels of cost drivers; main drivers, process and technical drivers and final drivers. Finally a matlab model was developed for simulating the final cost drivers to study the effect of different parameters on the cost drivers.

Computerized cost estimation though cost model help user to estimating product cost since the early stage of product development. Total product cost is an economic indicator that a sustainable product promotes a good impact on the environment but also contribute a profit increased to the organization. In addition, the cost model could be a decision-making tool for the organization in selecting alternatives to replace the older system in term of financial and other benefits offered by the new technology. The proposed cost model helps membrane user to select the lower membrane system’s cost during its complete lifespan and it helps management to rearrange the production line and filtering system in reducing the total cost. Activity-based costing (ABC) useful in estimating the overhead cost, the total cost of the membrane system and also other useful information in improving the whole membrane system.

The current work presents the development of cost model for tooling during high speed hard turning of AISI 4340 hardened steel using regression analysis. A set of experimental data using ceramic cutting tools, composed approximately of Al2O3 (70%) and TiC (30%) on AISI 4340 heat treated to a hardness of 60 HRC was obtained in the following design boundary: cutting speeds (175-325 m/min), feed rate (0.075-0.125 m/rev), negative rake angle (0 to -12) and depth of cut of (0.1-0.15) mm. The output data is used to develop a new model in predicting the tooling cost using in terms of cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut and rake angle. Box Behnken Design was used in developing the model. Predictive regression model was found to be capable of good predictions the tooling cost within the boundary design.

The concept of geostationary VHTS (Very High Throughput Satellites) is based on multibeam coverage with intensive frequency and polarization reuse, in addition to the use of larger bandwidths in the feeder links, in order to provide high capacity satellite links at a reduced cost per Gbps in orbit. The dimensioning and design of satellite networks based on VHTS imposes the analysis of multiple trade-offs to achieve an optimal solution in terms of cost, capacity, and the figure of merit of the user terminal. In this paper, we propose a new method for sizing VHTS satellite networks based on an analytical expression of the forward link CINR (Carrier-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio) that is used to evaluate the trade-off of different combinations of system parameters. The proposed method considers both technical and commercial requirements as inputs, including the constraints to achieve the optimum solution in terms of the user G/T, the number of beams, and the system cost. The cost model includes both satellite and ground segments. Exemplary results are presented with feeder links using Q/V bands, DVB-S2X and transmission methods based on CCM and VCM (Constant and Variable Coding and Modulation, respectively) in two scenarios with different service areas.

The completion of the design drawing has not been credited in the construction market in Korea, and the modeling information of the design phase cannot be effectively used in an estimation process. Therefore, the objective of this study is to assess the cost estimating accuracy of a BIM tool in the design process to verify its applicability. Modeling was done for a building in an actual project to evaluate the applicability, from which the causes of errors of quantity take-off were derived.

Cost estimation helps build confidence in the feasibility of the development of novel manufacturing processes. This paper focuses on the exploration of the cost estimation for novel manufacturing processes for decision support. One of the aspects of estimation is building credibility around the analysis, especially, in the early stages of planning. Cost estimating guidelines provide a good overview of the cost estimation steps but there is a requirement for guidelines for cost estimation model development. Through building on an understanding of the cost estimation principles, as well as cost estimation modelling, a high-level generic approach for process cost estimation is proposed. Further, a demonstration of a cost estimation modelling approach used for composites manufacturing in the automotive sector is provided, outlining the steps in cost estimation model development.

Cost estimation analysis for the software system project is the foremost difficult tasks in software organizations. In this paper, a comparison between an estimate and actual effort was done by applying the grey wolf’s algorithm to predict the effort and time of this software system for a given archive. The intermediate semi-detached COCOMO model was used with the grey wolf’s algorithm by taking the KLOC of the dataset as input, additionally to fifteen cost drivers and giving effort and time as output. The recommended model of the cost estimation helps the project manager by offering a fast and truly estimates the hassle and time of software system project which is nearer to the actual cost.

<p class="DRAbstrak">Cost estimation is the art of estimating the amount of cost required for an activity based on available information. The conceptual cost estimate is an early stage in planning a construction project. This estimate provides the cost that must be budgeted for a construction project. Cost conceptual estimates have low accuracy because the time of calculation and available information is limited. This study aims to obtain a conceptual model of the conceptual cost of short-spaced bridges. The method used is the cost index. The cost index is a figure indicating the cost per m2 of bridges at a given time. The required data are contract documents and drawings design that are built in 2012 - 2015 in Banyumas residency area. Span of bridge 4 - 38.8 meters and width of bridge 2 - 7 meters with caisson  foundation. The data were obtained from Dinas Bina Marga and Public Works Agency. The results showed that the conceptual cost model of reinforced concrete bridge with caisson foundation was BJiL = (100.540.56t2-404.528.636,58t + 406.914.286.088,58) x P x W, with t = year, P = span bridge, and W = bridge width. The error value of validation of this model is 2.31%.</p>

This chapter is an effort towards illustrating the use of expert panels (EP) as a means of eliciting knowledge from a group of enterprise resource planning (ERP) experts in an exploratory research. The development of a cost estimation model for ERP adoptions is very crucial for research and practice, and that was the main reason behind the willingness of experts to participate in this research. The use of EP was very beneficial as it involved various data collection and visualization techniques, as well as data validation and confirmation. Arguments for using EP over other group techniques are presented in this chapter. Experts modified and enhanced the initial cost drivers list and their sub-factors significantly, as they added, modified, merged and split different costs. Moreover, they ranked the cost drivers according to their weight on total costs. All of this helped the authors to better understand relationships among various cost factors.

A cost model is an important tool for product design and material selection. An efficient and effective cost estimation tool is necessary for early design evaluations. In this paper, a cost estimation model is presented that estimates the production cost for metal inert gas (MIG) welded joints. This model determines the cost incurred in fabricating each joint with a detailed explanation of each cost component / driver. Each cost component has been closely analyzed and the major cost components have been included in the cost model. We used this cost model to predict the cost of the forty two different joints joined using MIG welding technique. The results predicted by the MIG welding cost model have been compared to that quoted by an expert welder. Initial results show that the cost model and the expert cost estimates follow a similar general trend. Further study is needed to refine the MIG cost model.

Subject. The article addresses cost estimation of designed facilities construction in domestic civil shipbuilding. Objectives. The purpose is to consider the key problems and contradictions in the cost estimating process in this area. Methods. In the study, I apply general scientific methods. Results. The paper presents the analysis of major problems and contradictions in estimating the cost of construction of designed objects of domestic civil shipbuilding at the present stage of its development. I formulate my proposals for improving the system of industry pricing. Conclusions. The paper underpins the need to modernize industry pricing through the introduction of advanced information technologies.
