This study sought to investigate on effectiveness of online teaching and learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic: A Case of one university in Zimbabwe. The study adopted quantitative approach in which 202 students were given an online questionnaire to fill. Data was analyzed through graphs to indicate the perception of students on effectiveness and challenges involved in the online teaching and learning. The study concludes that the e-teaching and e-learning adopted to minimize negative impact of Covid-19 Pandemic were not effective. High number of students (63% and 14%) reported that the whole process was frustrating as they could not learn effectively. Furthermore, students revealed that their failure was due to various challenges including inefficient strategies used by lecturers and difficulties to stablish and maintain relevant and fruitful interaction between lecturers and students. The learning process was monotonous. Lecturers could not convey adequate feedback and tests and assignments were not clear. To overcome challenges indicated by students, the study recommends that institutions of higher learning provide relevant equipment and educators be trained to develop competencies and skills for e-learning.

The author's interest is to investigate the lecturers' attitudes towards online teaching in the learning process which is the teaching for the 21st-century learning process and to seek the relationship among lecturers’ attitudes, online teaching and learning process. The problem is many lecturers in Tangerang City area are afraid of using technology and some of them are stuttered and technology illiterate. The lecturers still prefer face to face learning in the class more campuses have provided Moodle as a platform of learning. With the circumstances of Coronavirus, the learning has moved to e-learning. In this research, the author used a mixed-method and the number of respondents was 104, data collection was obtained from questionnaires sent via Google Form and distributed through WhatsApp to the lecturers in Tangerang City area. Data is translated into frequency and regression linear. The result showed that 73 lecturers change them toward e-learning and remain 27 lectures had difficulty in teaching online and preferred traditional learning. Keywords: Lecturers' attitudes, online teaching, and learning process

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a sudden shift of learning model to online system has brought new challenges to the teachers. They are obliged to adapt and conduct new classroom practices to ensure an effective teaching and learning process is carried out. These new teaching practices are applied in the whole teaching process, from planning to evaluating processes. These include material resourcing, material development, material delivery, and assessment. This paper presents a micro-study focusing on how Maritime English (ME) teachers in Jakarta adapt to the online teaching and learning process in material resourcing and delivering processes. The data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to twenty-one ME Teachers at high school and higher education levels. The results show that the teachers find it challenging to adapt to online learning and tried their utmost by using whatever resources they have in their hands. However, there is a lack of consideration in using proper online resources to achieve the learning objectives.

With the advent of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which has spread to the majority of countries across the world, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared a global pandemic on 11 March 2020. Governments all over the world, including in southern Africa, introduced measures such as the banning of large gatherings,closure of borders, schools and institutions of higher learning to curb the spread of COVID-19. To ensure ongoing teaching and learning, institutions of higher learning made resolutions to transition to remote/online teaching and learning. While online education has long preceded the pandemic, the spiraling of COVID-19 all over the world resulted in the upscaling of online teaching and learning in higher education institutions. Mandatory online teaching and learning was a relatively new practice to most lecturers and students in southern Africa. Drawing on two case stories from Botswana and Namibia, this paper offers a think piece on the shifts to online learning, considering assumptions, implications and possibilities for quality learning in teacher education, through a reflection by teacher educators of environment and sustainability courses. The assumptions in online learning were that students and teacher educators had the capacity and infrastructure for remote/online teaching and learning. This paper thus opens up opportunities for institutions of higher learning to scale up their Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and support for both students and teacher educators for online teaching and learning which have the potential to improve on quality education during times of crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic led to an expansion and increase in the demand for online teaching and learning across the globe. Online teaching and learning is attracting a large number of students for enhanced learning experiences. However, there are many challenges and hindrances that pose a problem in the smooth learning. The impediments in the learning process are suppressing the advantages that may aid the learners with augmented learning sessions. The research focuses on identifying the way in which Romanian universities managed to provide knowledge during the Coronavirus pandemic, when, in a very short time, universities had to adapt the educational process for exclusively online teaching and learning. In this regard, we analyzed students’ perception regarding online learning, their capacity to assimilate information, and the use of E-learning platforms. An online survey based on a semi-structured questionnaire was conducted. Data was collected from 762 students from two of the largest Romanian universities. The results of the research revealed that higher education institutions in Romania were not prepared for exclusively online learning. Thus, the advantages of online learning identified in other studies seem to diminish in value, while disadvantages become more prominent. The hierarchy of problems that arise in online learning changes in the context of the crisis caused by the pandemic. Technical issues are the most important, followed by teachers’ lack of technical skills and their teaching style improperly adapted to the online environment. However, the last place was assigned by students to the lack of interaction with teachers or poor communication with them. Based on these findings, research implications for universities and researchers are discussed.

The pandemic that has hit the world has forced us to do learning indirectly or is often referred to as online (Daring). Online teaching and learning process requires some adjustments both on the teacher's side and the student's side. One of the adjustments is the need to seek technology and adaptation using technology. The currently widely used technology is online meeting services, such as the Zoom Meeting application, Google Meet, Video Calling via the Massager application, or other similar applications. To adapt to the technology, teachers at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah 01 Pekanbaru strongly desire to deepen ownership of the Zoom application as one of the media used for online learning. This training aims to provide an understanding and hands-on practice of using Zoom Meeting technology to increase learning effectiveness.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected various sectors particularly the education sector. The decision by the Malaysian government to close down higher learning institutes and schools has forced educators and teachers to switch their teaching and learning techniques from face-to-face to completely online. This situation has pushed the lecturers from the General Studies Department, Sunway University, Malaysia to master not only the technological tools, but also the pedagogic aspect that drive the entire process, to ensure the teaching and learning process can be carried out properly. Within a short period of time, different methods and modalities were designed and experimented, yet little is known on how such abrupt and rapid modifications affect the overall quality. Considering the value of experiences and reflections, this study probes on the mediated experiences of GSD academics on online teaching and learning, whereby a qualitative-research design was leveraged in a plethora of collective reflections in using E-Learn. The findings revealed that E-Learn has a huge potential to be effectively employed for synchronous and asynchronous modalities due to its user-friendly features and tools within the capacity to disseminate information, structure virtual lessons, record students’ involvement, monitor reports and deploy both formative and summative assessments. This study concluded that the various features of E-Learn had tremendously assisted the GSD lecturers during the online teaching and learning process, and is deemed suitable be used as a platform or Learning Management System (LMS) for online teaching and learning activities.

This paper aims to reveal factors that affect the students' participation in a speaking online class. The subjects are the second and fourth semester students of English department, Language and Culture Faculty, UNTAG Semarang. The research was held during the even semester of the academic year 2020/2021. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method. The data was based on the interview and the questionnaires filled by the students. Some technical issues came up in the online class such as internet connection which mostly became the hottest issue and also the device being used which was sometimes not compatible to the program used in the teaching and learning process. Those issues somehow have affected the online teaching and learning process. The other issues affected in online learning are students’ contribution and students’ condition. For those, it is hoped that the research will give a clearer explanation especially for the teachers who are struggling on teaching the online class and face a similar situation. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused many activities to stop, including activities teaching and learning conventionally. Until a solver or deep solution is needed respond to these problems. Teaching and learning activities carried out online is a way to overcome that problem. Destination The research was to determine the use of online learning e-learning media for students at a university in Indramayu. The research instrument carried out on the collection of information and data is by means of questionnaires and library research. As a result of this research shows that online learning has been implemented well, and takes advantage of various learning media such as WhatsApp, Google Classroom, Zoom and Google Meet so learning becomes more varied and makes students not bored quickly and understand faster material delivered. There are several obstacles faced in implementation of online teaching and learning activities, namely the internet network that is not stable, lacking maximum availability of physical references and minimum data quota Internet. Online learning needs to be used as best as possible in activities learning and teaching because it is an innovation in learning so that students and lecturers can conduct lectures efficiently and effectively.
