Background: Garlic (Allium sativum) possesses health enhancing abilities due to the presence various phytoceutics moities. The current research was deigned to explore the phytochemicals and antioxidant capacity of Pakistani garlic. Methods: Garlic extracts were obtained using methanol, hexane and ethyl acetate at different time intervals (35, 50 and 65 min) followed by their polyphenols and flavonoid content determination. Afterwards, the antioxidant potential was also determined. Results: The outcomes revealed that the methanolic extracts obtained at 50 min extraction time showed maximum total phenolics as 60.38±0.23 mg GAE/100g and flavonoids as 58.45±1.24 mg/100g. Similarly, the highest DPPH activity (61.59±1.58%) and β-carotene and linoleic acid potential (64.96±1.72%) were also observed for methanolic extract. Conclusion: Inferences were made that Pakistani garlic contains myriad of phenolics and flavonoids but the extraction of these components depends upon the solvent/time combination. In this study, methanol proved to be the ideal solvent for the maximum extraction of phytochemicals from garlic.

Objective: The objective of this present study were to the biogenic synthesis of selenium nanoparticles using Aloe vera extract and check it’s antioxidant potential by ABTS, DPPH and FRAP assays. Methods: In this study we investigated the clove of Aloe vera, which is used for the synthesis of selenium nanoparticles were characterized by using UV-Visible (UV-VIS) spectrophotometer, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform spectroscopy (FTIR) and Energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy (EDAX) and ABTS, DPPH and FRAP assays for checked it’s antioxidant potential. Results: The present study was carried out to synthesis of Selenium nanoparticles using extract of Aloe vera. UV-Vis Spectra at 350 nm with Aloe vera extract and observed as hollow and spherical particles in size ranging 7-48 nm which is found more stable more than two months. EDAX analysis was carried out to check the presoak of Selenium in nanoparticles. Results of EDAX, confirmed its present. TEM and SEAD represented addition evidence of formation of nanoparticles whereas SEAD indicates the particles were crystalline in nature. FT-IR analysis was carried out to identify the possible bio molecules and Aloe vera extract-metal ions interaction responsible for formation and stabilization of selenium nanoparticles. FRAP, ABTS and DPPH assay results sequester that Selenium nanoparticles prepared using Aloe vera extract possess more activity than extract alone. Conclusion: The bio molecules of Aloe veraextract acted as stabilizing as well as capping agent leading to the formation of Selenium nanoparticles. Selenite has been proven to have antioxidant activity and is being used as chemoprevention agent in cancer diagnosis but same time it is toxic also. Elemental Selenium i.e. Selenium nanoparticles are less toxic form of selenium.

On account of industrialization and increasing population, the water bodies get polluted by means of degradable and non-degradable substances. In 21st century, it is necessary to maintain a healthy environment especially water bodies for the survival of not the aquatic animals but also for healthy human life. Recent advances suggest that the issues related to water quality could be resolved by using nanoparticles and nano-filtration membrane methods from the development of nanotechnology. In this research, attempt to remove heavy metals from Chithrapuzha River water at Cochin bar mouth (S1) and Fact barge jetty (S2) using Fe2O3 prepared via green synthesis using Egg albumin and Aloe vera. Our results provoke that, the synthesis of Fe2O3 nanoparticle is cost-effective and eco-friendly and also good in nano-regime. Results of filtration studies showed that Fe2O3 nanoparticles remove heavy metals from Chithrapuzha River water and also increases the DO content which helps the survival of aquatic life.

In the present work,  a green synthesis of  cuprous oxide nanoparticles  was demonstrated using the freshly prepared aqueous extract of the aloe vera plant and the cupper oxide nanoparticles  were characterized by the analytical techniques such as UV-Vis, FT-IR, XRD, and EDX. Characterization techniques confirmed that the biomolecules involved  in the formation of cupper oxide nanoparticles and also they stabilized the nanoparticles.
