Abstract Water is crucial to human survival. Studies on surface water are well documented but precise knowledge of groundwater resources is difficult. Thus, accurate knowledge of groundwater resources could meet the necessities of water at present and in the long run. The application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Geographical Information System (GIS) together with multi-criteria parameters has emerged as an efficient technique for delineation of groundwater potential in recent decades. However, no efforts to delineate the groundwater potential have been attempted in the study area to date. Hence, in this study, the groundwater potential of Papumpare district of Arunachal Pradesh was delineated by combining AHP, GIS, and ten thematic layers (geomorphology, geology, slope, lineament density, drainage density, rainfall, distance from the major river, topographic wetness index, soil texture, and land use/land cover). The results show about 64% of the area under poor groundwater potential. Moderate and good groundwater potential is found in 31% and 5% of the area, respectively. Map-removal and single-parameter sensitivity analyses revealed that the groundwater potential map is most sensitive to the annual average rainfall with a mean variation index of 1.05% and a weight of 19.07%. The flood/alluvial plains, Siwalik formations with sediments, and level to gentle slopes receiving high rainfall show good potential, and the dissected hills/valleys, metamorphic rock assemblages, steep slopes with low rainfall reveals poor groundwater potential. The overall accuracy of 81.25% with a Kappa coefficient of 0.72 explains good agreement between the reference data and the map. The estimated area under good groundwater potential appears too little concerning the increasing population and urbanization. Therefore, the state government in general and the water resources and planning department in particular need to formulate suitable strategies to combat the water scarcity scenario waiting ahead. The study suggests raising the use of surface water from nearby rivers to lessen the pressure on groundwater resources.

North- East India is an under veiled region with an awe-inspiring landscape, different groups of ethnic people, their culture and heritage. Contemporary writers from this region aspire towards a vision outside the tapered ethnic channel, and they represent a shared history. In their writings, the cultural memory is showcased, and the intensity of feeling overflows the labour of technique and craft. Mamang Dai presents a rare glimpse into the ecology, culture, life of the tribal people and history of the land of the dawn-lit mountains, Arunachal Pradesh, through her novel The Legends of Pensam. The word ‘Pensam’ in the title means ‘in-between’,  but it may also be interpreted as ‘the hidden spaces of the heart’. This is a small world where anything can happen. Being adherents of the animistic faith, the tribes here believe in co-existence with the natural world along with the presence of spirits in their forests and rivers. This paper attempts to draw an insight into the culture and gender of the Arunachalis with special reference to The Legends of Pensam by Mamang Dai.

ABSTRACTGeostech Building, as an office and laboratory facility, requires a source of clean water from groundwater related to the limited supply of clean water from the PDAM. Due to the needs of freshwater from groundwater origin, data and information are needed regarding the potential groundwater in the area, including aquifer configuration, depth, and groundwater potential. The presence of groundwater is not distributed through every area, and it's related to the geological and geohydrological conditions. One of the geophysical methods that can describe subsurface is 2D geoelectric methods. This method can distinguish and analyze rock types, geological structures, groundwater aquifers, and other important information based on the characteristics of the electricity of rocks by looking at the value of the type of resistance. In this measurement, the Wenner Alpha configuration has been used, where the arrangement of A-B current electrodes and M-N potential electrodes have constant spacing. From the measurement results, it can be interpreted that there is a low resistivity layer containing porous groundwater as an aquifer. Based on regional geological data, it has been estimated that this layer is in the form of sandy tuff (0-1.5 ohm-m). The exploitation of groundwater with drilling is expected to reach the aquifer's upper layer at depth, starting from 11.5-13 meters. The groundwater aquifer thickness cannot be ascertained because of the penetration of the lower depth of 2D geoelectric measurements truncated by the constraint of a maximum stretch of cable. The upper layer of the aquifer contains a turned layer of fine tufa and medium tuff, which is impermeable, coarse tuff, and mixed soil with varying thickness at the upper layer.

This present study makes an analysis of changing contribution of sub-sector and composition and growth performance in Indian economy. In addition to that, the contribution of sub-sector of service sector in state economy. The results revealed that the growth rate of Chandigarh was high due to providing especial emphasis on dominating sub-sectors of services and its most preferred destination for technology whereas, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh due to geographical and environmental conditions development were higher in floriculture and agriculture, although, tourism emerged as a new profession and have different opportunities. Apart of that, in the wake of some challenges in the form of lack of infrastructure, recent crisis in the world market, foreign direct investment (FDI) restrictions and outsourcing backlash were major limiting factor.
