The comparative analysis of radar-based hail detection methods presented here, uses C-band polarimetric radar data from Czech territory for 5 stormy days in May and June 2016. The 27 hail events were selected from hail reports of the European Severe Weather Database (ESWD) along with 21 heavy rain events. The hail detection results compared in this study were obtained using a criterion, which is based on single-polarization radar data and a technique, which uses dual-polarization radar data. Both techniques successfully detected large hail events in a similar way and showed a strong agreement. The hail detection, as applied to heavy rain events, indicated a weak enhancement of the number of false detected hail pixels via the dual-polarization hydrometeor classification. We also examined the performance of hail size detection from radar data using both single- and dual-polarization methods. Both the methods recognized events with large hail but could not select the reported events with maximum hail size (diameter above 4 cm).

This study focused on the middle-pressure jet grouting method, which has a complicated development mechanism for the columnar soil-improved body, with the aim of establishing a computer-aided engineering (CAE) system that can simulate the performance on a computer. Furthermore, in order to confirm the effect of middle-pressure jet grouting with mechanical agitation and mixing, a comparative analysis was performed with different jet pressures, the development situation was visualized, and the performance of this method was evaluated. The results of MPS-CAE as one of the CAE systems showed that the cement slurry jet ratio in the planned improvement range, including the periphery of the mixing blade, by the middle-pressure jet grouting together with the mechanical agitation and mixing was increased and a high quality columnar soil-improved body was obtained. It is expected that the introduction of CAE will contribute to the visualization of the ground, and that CAE will be an effective tool for the visual management of construction for ground improvement and the maintenance of improved grounds during the life cycle of the ground-improvement method.

In the first part of the paper the detailed analysis of the existing current transformer (CT) saturation detection methods with their classification is presented. A new saturation detection method has been proposed in second part of the paper. Mathematical description of the method is given. In the next section of the paper a CT model with test scheme is presented. To identify the reliability of proposed method against nose and remanent flux density experiments have been produced in the fourth section. Comparative analysis between proposed and existing methods is also given. Finally, in conclusion a detailed description of the method is given regarding its behavior with respect to remanent flux and noise
