Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. subsp. durum (Desf.) Husn) is a staple crop of the Mediterranean countries, where more frequent waterlogging events are predicted due to climate change. However, few investigations have been conducted on the physiological and agronomic responses of this crop to waterlogging. The present study provides a comprehensive evaluation of the effects of two waterlogging durations (i.e., 14 and 35 days) on two durum wheat cultivars (i.e., Svevo and Emilio Lepido). An integrated analysis of an array of physiological, biochemical, biometric, and yield parameters was performed at the end of the waterlogging events, during recovery, and at physiological maturity. Results established that effects on durum wheat varied depending on waterlogging duration. This stress imposed at tillering impaired photosynthetic activity of leaves and determined oxidative injury of the roots. The physiological damages could not be fully recovered, subsequently slowing down tiller formation and crop growth, and depressing the final grain yield. Furthermore, differences in waterlogging tolerance between cultivars were discovered. Our results demonstrate that in durum wheat, the energy maintenance, the cytosolic ion homeostasis, and the ROS control and detoxification can be useful physiological and biochemical parameters to consider for the waterlogging tolerance of genotypes, with regard to sustaining biomass production and grain yield.

In recent years, seeking solutions to urban waterlogging and water pollution has always been one of the topics of concern. The problem of urban water accumulation occurs frequently in most areas of China in July and August. The contradiction between supply and demand of urban ecological water is prominent. In order to solve the problem of urban water accumulation caused by rainfall concentration, and to achieve the overall goal of building a water-saving green ecological city, the Shenzhen City should be built into a sponge city. Under this background, the physiological response of different forages to waterlogging stress and the removal of pollutants in rainwater were studied. In this study, ten herbaceous plants commonly used in Shenzhen were used as experimental materials. After 0, 7, 14, 21, 28 days of waterlogging stress treatment, six physiological indexes, such as MDA, SP, and Pro contents and SOD, POD, and CAT activities, were comprehensively evaluated. Combined with the morphological changes of the plants after waterlogging, seven plants with strong waterlogging tolerance were determined, which were O. bodinieri, H. coronarium, I. tectorum, D. ensifolia, R. brittoniana, C. indica, and A. zerumbet. Then, according to their comprehensive evaluation of the removal capacity of pollutants in the rainwater, it is suggested to select O. bodinieri, H. coronarium, I. tectorum and D. ensifolia in areas with serious waterlogging. In areas with serious water pollution, R. brittoniana, A. zerumbet, D. ensifolia and H. coronarium are recommended. However, H. coronarium and D. ensifolia not only have a strong adaptability in the waterlogged environment, but also have a strong ability to remove pollutants in the rainwater, so they are suggested to be alternative herbaceous plants for sponge city in Shenzhen, China.

The measurement performance of road vehicle automatic weighing instrument installed on highways is directly related to the safety of roads and bridges. The fuzzy number indicates that the uncertain quantization problem has obvious advantages. By analyzing the factors affecting the metrological performance of the road vehicle automatic weighing instrument, combined with the fuzzy mathematics theory, the weight evaluation model of the dynamic performance evaluation of the road vehicle automatic weighing instrument is proposed. The factors of measurement performance are summarized and calculated, and the comprehensive evaluation standard of the metering performance of the weighing equipment is obtained, so as to realize the quantifiable analysis and evaluation of the metering performance of the dynamic road vehicle automatic weighing instrument in use, and provide data reference for adopting a more scientific measurement supervision method.

To develop new wood cellulose resources and fast-growing pulpwood plantation fiber sources, it is very important to evaluate their pulping properties. A comprehensive multi-index pulping-suitability evaluation model is investigated in this paper by considering four fast-growing wood species. First, a new evaluation-index system for kraft pulp was developed based on traditional evaluation-index systems. Then, the membership degree of every index was analyzed to obtain a fuzzy matrix. The proportional contribution of each parameter to the main pulping properties could then be determined. Finally, a comprehensive evaluation model of kraft pulp properties was developed. The model is reliable compared with traditional assessment methods. The results confirmed the feasibility and rationality of developing new wood cellulose resources and fast-growing pulpwood plantations using fuzzy comprehensive evaluations.
