Proper application of nitrogen (N) fertilizer is vital to improve the growth and grain yield of rice crop. As there prevails more aerobic period in direct seeded rice, nitrogen loss is generally more in such environment. Therefore, nitrogen recommendation for direct seeded rice is slightly higher (22.5-30 Kg ha-1) than that under the transplanted rice. Insufficient and/or inappropriate nitrogen fertilizer application is highly critical to the crops. Optimal nitrogen management strategies aim at matching the nitrogen fertilizer supply to the actual crop demand. Leaf color is generally used as a visual and subjective indicator of the rice crop need for nitrogen fertilizer. The Leaf Color Chart is a simple and inexpensive tool for real time nitrogen management in rice. It helps farmers to improve their decision-making process in nitrogen management. It provides the idea of when and how much nitrogen fertilizer to apply based on relative greenness of the rice leaf. In overall, LCC based nitrogen management improves productivity and profitability of the rice crop by nitrogen saving and ensuring its higher use efficiency.Int. J. Appl. Sci. Biotechnol. The rice brown planthopper is a rice pest, which one is very harmful when the nitrogen fertilizer is applied at a higher rate. To evaluate the effect of brown plant hopper by using different fertilizers on transplanted basmati rice, a field experiment was conducted at the experimental farm of School of Agriculture, in Lovely Professional University, Punjab during Kharif season 2015–2016. The different fertilizer doses were used, and the experiment comprised of 15 treatments. The results showed that the nitrogen fertilizer did not harm to rice crop, but the attack of brown planthopper was icreased due to more succulent tissues of a rice plant. The nitrogen increased the photosynthesis effect and ratio in the plant due to more production of chlorophyll. In case of another fertilizer P and K (P2O5 and K2O) are not promoting but also nor affecting to insect/pests attack. Zinc sulfate proved that its effect was much positive towards crop because the zinc sulfate making less susceptibility of plants to pest attack at all doses. The rice crop was showed highest brown plant hopper attack at 50 kg ha-1 of nitrogen and also showed maximum plant height, number of tillers, panicles/plant, and 1000 grain weight. Maximum grain and straw yield (7093 kg/ha, 8753 kg/ha) was recorded in T9 where N- 50, P-40 kg ha-1 was applied. The grain yield and straw yield was recorded maximum in treated plots as compared to the control.

The aim of the research is a retrospective analysis of the history and stages of development of digital land reclamation in Russia, the definition of «Digital land reclamation» and trends in its further development. In the framework of the retrospective analysis the main stages of melioration formation are determined. To achieve the maximum effect of the «digital reclamation» requires full cooperation of practical experience and scientific potential accumulated throughout the history of the reclamation complex, and the latest achievements of science and technology, which is currently possible only through the full digitalization of reclamation activities. The introduction of «digital reclamation» will achieve greater potential and effect in the modernization of the reclamation industry in the «hightech industry», through the use of innovative developments and optimal management decisions.
