This work is devoted to the study of the physical-mechanical and protective properties of modified phosphate coatings obtained on steel by cold method. Modifiers introduced into phosphating solutions are buffer additives, stabilize the phosphating process, allow the deposition of coatings at low temperatures, increase the number of active centers on the metal surface, resulting in fine-crystalline uniform coatings of small thickness. It was found that the corrosion rate of modified phosphate films is 2 times less than that of coatings obtained by the traditional method. When the temperature rises above 100 °C, the corrosion resistance of phosphate coatings decreases, and the satisfactory protective properties of the modified films are preserved when heated to 200 °C. Modified phosphate coatings have a high adhesion strength to the metal due to their small thickness. However, thin phosphate coatings have low wear resistance and medium electrical insulation properties.

Abstract The deposition of phosphate coatings occurs on the surface of the product when it is immersed in a solution containing phosphoric acid. The formation of a film on the metal surface occurs during the deposition of insoluble two- and three-substituted phosphates of iron, manganese, and zinc from a solution. To speed up the process and conduct phosphating at low temperatures, nitrates, nitrites, and fluorides of active metals are introduced into the solution. Organic compounds, such as glucose, glycerin, Trilon A, and Trilon B, are buffer additives to maintain the pH of phosphating solutions in the range of 2.6-3.2. It was found that 10-15 minutes at a process temperature of 20-25 °C are sufficient for the formation of a protective phosphate coating from solutions containing modifiers. The content of zinc phosphates in the modified phosphate coatings is increased. Additives in cold phosphating solutions have a positive effect on the quality and protective properties of the resulting phosphate films. Modified phosphate coatings obtained by the cold method have a fine-crystalline structure, a smooth surface and low porosity.

The traditional method preparing Si3N4/Si2N2O composite ceramic is to sinter α-Si3N4 powder with additives at relatively high temperatures. But the intergranular phase transformed from the sintering additives can degrade the high-temperature mechanical behavior. Amorphous nanoSi3N4 is used to fabricate Si3N4/Si2N2O composite ceramic by its oxidation and nitridation without sintering additives at low temperatures. Thus, it is essential to study the oxidation behavior and mechanism of amorphous nanoSi3N4. Amorphous nanoSi3N4 powders were oxidized in different atmospheres, at varying temperatures and for various different length of time. The oxidation process and products was analyzed by means of XRD, TGA and FTIR. The results showed that amorphous nanoSi3N4 could be oxidized into SiO2 from 600°C to 1300°C. Below 1300°C, the oxidation became serious as the temperature increased. Besides, the longer the oxidation time and the lager the ratio of O2/N2 partial pressure was, the deeper the oxidation level was. When the temperature was above 1300°C, amorphous nanoSi3N4 was completely oxidized into SiO2.

Low temperature negatively affects the engineering performance of cementitious materials and hinders the construction productivity. Previous studies have already demonstrated that TiO2 nanoparticles can accelerate cement hydration and enhance the strength development of cementitious materials at room temperature. However, the performance of cementitious materials containing TiO2 nanoparticles at low temperatures is still unknown. In this study, specimens were prepared through the replacement of cement with 1 wt.%, 2 wt.%, 3 wt.%, 4 wt.%, and 5 wt.% TiO2 nanoparticles and cured under temperatures of 0°C, 5°C, 10°C, and 20°C for specific ages. Physical and mechanical properties of the specimens were evaluated through the setting time test, compressive strength test, flexural strength test, hydration degree test, mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in order to examine the performance of cementitious materials with and without TiO2 nanoparticles at various curing temperatures. It was found that low temperature delayed the process of cement hydration while TiO2 nanoparticles had a positive effect on accelerating the cement hydration and reducing the setting time in terms of the results of the setting time test, hydration degree test, and strength test, and the specimen with the addition of 2 wt.% TiO2 nanoparticles showed the superior performance. Refined pore structure in the MIP tests, more mass loss of CH in TGA, intense peak appearance associated with the hydration products in XRD analysis, and denser microstructure in SEM demonstrated that the specimen with 2 wt.% TiO2 nanoparticles exhibited preferable physical and mechanical properties compared with that without TiO2 nanoparticles under various curing temperatures.

The formation of ohmic Au/Mo/Ti contacts to epitaxial p-type diamond films is studied. The effect of annealing on the electrical and structural properties of contacts has been investigated. It was shown that during rapid thermal annealing, the outer layer of gold protects the contact system from oxidation up to a temperature of 850°C, unlike the simplified Au/Ti system, which is more common in modern works. In Au/Ti structures without a Mo layer after high-temperature annealing, effective diffusion of titanium into the gold layer occurs, which reduces its protective properties and accelerates the diffusion of oxygen to the boundary with the diamond. Oxidation of the Ti/C contact region blocks the formation of a conductive layer of titanium carbide with high adhesion at the border with diamond. The role of various factors in reducing the contact resistance is compared: annealing for the formation of titanium carbide, heavy doping of diamond with boron atoms, and crystalline perfection of epitaxial diamond substrates. For doped epitaxial films grown on single-sector quality substrates, non-annealed ohmic contacts with a record contact resistance of 4•10<-7> Ω•cm<2> were obtained.

The article analyzes the possibility of developing custom binders with a set of set properties. Particular attention is paid to the development of radiation-resistant barium-containing cements based on aluminates and barium silicates. In order to normalize the radiation situation in Ukraine, it is urgent to develop structural materials with specified high protective properties against the effects of radiation, a high degree of biological protection in combination with high strength and fire resistance. The main components of the technological parameters of synthesis of the presented cements are determined. Test results of physical and mechanical properties of refractory radiation resistant cements are presented and general recommendations on the scope of the developed binder materials are given. It is determined that the resulting refractory cement can be used as a bond in the manufacture of special concretes and materials that have high protective properties while exposed to high temperatures and radiation. Thermal stability of concrete based on silicate alumobarium cement with different fillers was determined (cooling of the samples was carried out in air). As a result of the tests, it was found that all concrete specimens withstood more than 20 cycles (1000 ° C - air), while maintaining more than 80 % of the initial strength. These results confirm the known pattern: the higher the material density, the greater the material's ability to absorb radiation. Thus, the obtained data allow us to conclude that concrete based on silicate alumobarium cement have high absorption rates of brake radiation, which is more than 1.5 times higher than currently used concrete based on Portland cement. Therefore, it can be concluded that the concretes obtained are radiation resistant, with a high degree of attenuation of gamma rays and can be recommended as protective materials. Abstract. The possibility of obtaining luminous phosphate coatings on steel by cold method has been studied. Modified cold phosphating solutions containing organic additives (glycerin, trilon B, OS-20 emulsifier) were selected as the basis to maintain the pH, stabilize the solution and improve the quality and structure of the deposited coatings. To obtain the glow effect, a green phosphor based on Zn2SiO4 containing manganese as a sensitizer was added to the phosphating solution. During deposition, phosphate coatings are obtained that glow with spots, but constant mixing of the solution during deposition contributes to the uniform distribution of phosphor in the phosphate film. Luminous phosphate coatings have good protective properties, they can be used as an independent protection of steel surfaces from corrosion.
