Presented the results of evaluation of structural connection, identity and interchangeability of main asymmetric types of theoretical distributions most often acceptable for assessing the distributions of various indicators in geology and technology. The method of empirical analysis and statistical inference was used with the involvement of nonparametric facts according to the distribution patterns. The analysis of the empirical results of the application of the lognormal, gamma distribution and the Weibull distribution with the involvement of extensive statistical data from literary and research sources is carried out. The characteristic features and statistical regularities of distributions inherent to them are revealed, estimated statistical conclusions are obtained, according to which structural relationships between the functions of the lognormal, gamma and Weibull distributions are revealed. The identity and authenticity of the development of probabilistic frequencies in their application have been established, the complex geometric "image" of asymmetry inherent to these types of distributions is generalized. Structural relationships and interchangeability of asymmetric types of distributions are recommended to increase the reliability and credibility of the estimated choice of distribution in conditions of uncertainty and insignificance of statistical data when solving problems associated with forecasts, technological and computer developments.

This book discusses the impact of the difficult situation the European Union is currently going through on some structural elements of its legal order, looking for symptoms of decay, exploring examples of resistance, and assessing its overall state of health. The original choices made by the drafters of the Treaties and by the Court of Justice are put in their proper historical perspective, understanding Union law as a tool of civilization, and explaining its current problems, at least in part, as a consequence of the waning of the initial impetus behind integration. The concrete themes to be explored are the following: primacy, the national resistance to it and constitutional pluralism; the preliminary rulings procedure; Union citizenship, equality, and human dignity; the scope of the Charter and the standard of protection of fundamental rights; and the rigidity and fragmentation of the Union system in connection with the recent occasional use of international law as an alternative to Union law. The book looks at the development of the law throughout the decades, inevitably losing much detail, but hopefully also uncovering structural connections and continuities.

AbstractStructural connections between cortical areas form an intricate network with a high degree of specificity. Many aspects of this complex network organization in the adult mammalian cortex are captured by an architectonic type principle, which relates structural connections to the architectonic differentiation of brain regions. In particular, the laminar patterns of projection origins are a prominent feature of structural connections that varies in a graded manner with the relative architectonic differentiation of connected areas in the adult brain. Here we show that the architectonic type principle is already apparent for the laminar origins of cortico-cortical projections in the immature cortex of the macaque monkey. We find that prenatal and neonatal laminar patterns correlate with cortical architectonic differentiation, and that the relation of laminar patterns to architectonic differences between connected areas is not substantially altered by the complete loss of visual input. Moreover, we find that the degree of change in laminar patterns that projections undergo during development varies in proportion to the relative architectonic differentiation of the connected areas. Hence, it appears that initial biases in laminar projection patterns become progressively strengthened by later developmental processes. These findings suggest that early neurogenetic processes during the formation of the brain are sufficient to establish the characteristic laminar projection patterns. This conclusion is in line with previously suggested mechanistic explanations underlying the emergence of the architectonic type principle and provides further constraints for exploring the fundamental factors that shape structural connectivity in the mammalian brain.

When glass fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bar splices are used in reinforced concrete sections, they affect the structural performance in two different ways: through the stress concentration in the section, and through the configuration of the GFRP–concrete bond. This study experimentally investigated a new method for increasing the bond strength of a GFRP lap (two GFRP bars connected together) using a carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheet coated in epoxy resin. A new splicing method was investigated to quantify the effect of the bar surface bond on the development length, with reinforced concrete beams cast with laps in the concrete reinforcing bars at a known bending span length. Specimens were tested in four-point flexure tests to assess the strength capacity and failure mode. The results were summarised and compared within a standard lap made according to the ACI 318 specifications. The new method for splicing was more efficient for GFRP splice laps than the standard lap method. It could also be used for head-to-head reinforcement bar splices with the appropriate CFRP lapping sheets.
