Objectives Stroke is a leading cause of disability and one of the most debilitating conditions especially in the developing world. Rehabilitation focuses on improving functional ability which may enhance quality of life (QoL). The aims of this study were to investigate the association between QoL and each of functional independence (FI), self-reported fatigue (SRF) and exercise self-efficacy (ESE) in stroke survivors. Methods This is a descriptive cross-sectional survey, documenting QoL, FI, SRF and ESE of stroke survivors seen at the physiotherapy outpatient clinics of two health care facilities in Oyo state, Nigeria. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data with significance level set at 0.05. Results Participants were 110 stroke survivors (64 males; 46 females) aged 60.9 ± 11.9 years. Significant associations were found between QoL and each of FI and ESE (p < 0.01) while no significant association was observed for SRF. FI strongly predicts good QoL in stroke survivors (OR = 16.34; p < 0.01) and high ESE is a determinant of QoL (OR = 6.46; p = 0.04). Stroke survivors with SRF were less likely to report good QoL. Discussion Functional independence and exercise self-efficacy were directly associated with QoL and were also major predictors of good QoL in stroke survivors.

Background: Self efficacy can optimize the quality of life of clients who undergo the healing process due to chronic diseases. Individuals with higher self-efficacy move their personal and social resources proactively to maintain and improve the quality and length of their lives so that they experience a better quality of life. Objectives: the purpose of this study was to find the correlation between self efficacy and quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease who undergo hemodialysis at RSUD Semarang Regency. Metode: This type of research was descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The samples in this study more 76 people with total sampling technique. The data collection tool for self efficacy was measured by General Self-Efficacy scale, for quality of life with WHOQoL-BREF. Statistical test used Kolmogorov-smirnov. Result: The result showed that self efficacy in patients with chronic kidney disease was mostly in moderate category (53,9%), quality of life in patients with chronic kidney disease was mostly in good category (68,4%). There was a correlation between self efficacy and quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease who undergo hemodialysis at RSUD Semarang Regency, the result obtained p-value of 0.000 <α (0,05). Suggestion: Patients with chronic kidney disease can maintain good quality of life by helping to generate positive self-esteem and high self efficacy.

Background: Factors related to medication adherence in patients with schizophrenia have always been key to the treatment and rehabilitation of these patients. However, the treatment modes in different countries are not the same, and there is no research on the factors influencing medication adherence under different mental health service modes. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore medication adherence and its influencing factors in patients with schizophrenia in the Chinese institutional environment. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of hospitalized persons living with schizophrenia from November 2018 to January 2019. A systematic sampling method was used to select 217 hospitalized persons living with schizophrenia. The Medication Adherence Rating Scale (MARS), Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), Schizophrenia Quality of Life Scale (SQLS), and Scale of Social Skills for Psychiatric Inpatients (SSPI) were used to explore medication compliance and its influencing factors in the Chinese institutional environment. Results: The descriptive analysis and ANOVA showed that there were no significant differences in medication adherence when assessed by demographic characteristics such as sex, marital status, and education level (p > 0.05). A correlation analysis showed that there was no significant correlation between medication adherence and mental symptoms (p > 0.05) but that there was a positive correlation with self-efficacy, quality of life, and activities of daily living (p < 0.01). The linear regression analysis showed that self-efficacy, psychosocial factors, symptoms/side effects, and activities of daily living had significant effects on medication adherence (F = 30.210, p < 0.001). Conclusions: Our findings show that the self-efficacy, quality of life, and social function of patients with schizophrenia are important self-factors influencing medication adherence in the Chinese institutional environment.
