The main purpose of this article is to study the impact of leverage on earning per share of selected petroleum companies in India.  The article also aims to examine the correlation between three types of leverage with earning per share and to know more about the leverage and petroleum industry in India. The most appropriate Parametric and Non parametric tests are employed and the analysis of data is presented through different graphs and tables. This article comes across to draw a comparison between the degree of combined leverage and earnings per share of selected petroleum companies during the study period.

This study attempts to discover the nexus between crude oil price fluctuation after heavy oil upgrading and stock returns of petroleum companies in the U.S. Stock Exchange for the years 2008 to 2018. One of the methods of upgrading heavy crude oil is to extract asphaltene from crude oil. Considering the Asphaltene Removal (AR) as a factor in the nexus between oil price and the stock market is an innovation in the literature of energy finance. Asphaltenes cause many problems in the petroleum industry, which increases the cost of oil production and reduces the financial efficiency of oil companies. The AR is certainly one of the significant matters of the oil industry and can affect the price of oil. Therefore, changes in the price of oil can influence the price of oil company stocks. Hence, changes in stock prices will certainly affect the stock returns of oil companies. In an effort to solve this puzzle, the four financial models were employed to explore the nexus between oil price fluctuations and stock returns. The analysis of the results demonstrated that the oil price fluctuations caused by the removal of asphaltenes influence the stock returns of petroleum companies. Eventually, the theoretical hypothesis was confirmed by considering the USA as a case study. The outcomes of this investigation are a theoretical progression in areas related to the petroleum industry and the stock market that could lead to the adoption of new investment policies in the petroleum industry including investing in new procedures to manage and decrease the costs and time of the AR process, which would result in the advancement of petroleum companies. In fact, we have introduced a modern investment strategy in the oil industry aimed at reducing oil production costs, improving financial statements and increasing the stock returns of petroleum companies. Eventually, we will present new investment policies in the oil industry that can lead to economic growth and development of financial markets especially stock market, derivatives market, futures exchange, commodities exchange, as well as bond market.

Many other forms of intellectual property beyond the big three—copyright, patent, and trademark—reflect particular national agendas and political power structures. Some of them exist only in particular countries. Others protect narrow interests. “Other rights” describes some of these rights: domain names, geographic marks, personality rights, trade secrets, and misappropriation and data protection. The rise of these sui generis regimes and the proposals to create a new right for fashion design in recent years reveal the extent to which intellectual property is a function more of politics and the power of special interests than carefully balanced policy decisions or high-minded theory.

AbstractThe America Invents Act (AIA) presents new challenges and strategy considerations for nanotechnology inventors and companies that seek to protect their intellectual property in the United States. Among the many notable changes, the AIA expands the “prior user rights” defense to infringement and broadens the classes of patents that are eligible for the new limited prior user rights defense. While this defense is limited in some instances, such as against universities, it could be invaluable in others, such as when a competitor independently discovers and patents the trade secret. In the world of nanotechnology, where inventions and products are increasingly complex, this protection can prove to be vitally important.

Though VR (Virtual Reality) technique is now applied in petroleum exploration & development, the state-owned petroleum companies have no IP (intellectual property) for such a VR system in China. Thus, it is necessary to study and develop a VR system for our petroleum companies. Based on our previous achievements in study of software and hardware technique, the concept of developing a multi-subject cooperating exploration center based on VR system is proposed in this paper. The design of interpretation software is mainly done and the further study for it is put forward.

Knowledge managements (KM) increases the capability of organisations and companies in today's competitive environment. It is important that managers in petroleum companies proactively prepare their organisations and its members as they begin to implement KM systems. Then, as the first step, they should assess their organisations' readiness for KM implementation. Therefore, in this paper, we chose Iran as one of the main petroleum producers in the world to study the readiness of National Iranian Oil Company for KM implementation. A questionnaire survey was conducted in the company, based on stratified random sampling technique. The paper investigated the readiness of five variables including, management support, organisational culture, IT infrastructure, human resources and organisational structure for KM implementation in the company. Results revealed that the company lacked the necessary readiness to successfully implement KM. One way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) results indicated that there was a significant difference between the readiness levels of five KM variables. IT infrastructures and organisational structure were in higher readiness to implement KM in the company, followed by management support, human resources and organisational culture, respectively. Top management should plan to reduce weaknesses and implement a proper KM system in the company.
