Halobacterium sp. strain BOL4-2 was isolated from an Andean salt flat, Salar de Uyuni, in Bolivia. Single-molecule real-time (SMRT) sequencing revealed a 2.4-Mbp genome with a 2.0-Mbp chromosome and four plasmids (2 to 299 kb). Its isolation from an environment experiencing multiple extremes makes the strain interesting for astrobiology.

Bacillus subtilis(Ehrenburg) Cohn ATCC 49760, deposited asBacillus globigii, is the source strain for the restriction enzymes BglI and BglII. Its complete sequence and full methylome were determined using single-molecule real-time (SMRT) sequencing.

An extremely halophilic archaeon, Salarchaeum sp. strain JOR-1, was isolated from the east coast of the Dead Sea, Kingdom of Jordan, and sequenced using single-molecule real-time (SMRT) sequencing. The GC-rich 2.5-Mbp genome was composed of a circular chromosome and a megaplasmid. The genome contained 2,633 genes and was incorporated into HaloWeb (https://halo.umbc.edu/).

Brachybacterium sp. strain SGAir0954 was isolated from tropical air collected in Singapore, and its genome was sequenced and assembled using long reads generated by single-molecule real-time (SMRT) sequencing. The complete genome has a size of 3.41 Mb and consists of 2,955 protein coding genes, 50 tRNAs, and 9 rRNAs.

Mycobacterium avium is an important pathogenic bacterium in birds and has never, to our knowledge, reported to be isolated from domestic ducks. We present here the complete genome sequence of a virulent strain of Mycobacterium avium , isolated from domestic Pekin ducks for the first time, which was determined by PacBio single-molecule real-time technology.

ABSTRACT Two genome sequences of the phylum Armatimonadetes, derived from terrestrial environments, have been previously described. Here, two additional Armatimonadetes genome sequences were obtained via single-molecule real-time (SMRT) sequencing of an enrichment culture of the bloom-forming cyanobacterium Microcystis sp. isolated from a eutrophic lake (Brandenburg, Germany). The genomes are most closely affiliated with the class Fimbriimonadales, although they are smaller than the 5.6-Mbp type strain genome.
