The ellipsoidal magnetization model has a wide range of application scenarios. For example, in aviation magnetic field prospecting, mineral prospecting, seabed prospecting, and UXO (unexploded ordnance) detection. However, because the existing ellipsoid magnetization formula is relatively complicated, the detection model is usually replaced by a dipole. Such a model increases the error probability and poses a significant challenge for subsequent imaging and pattern recognition. Based on the distribution of ellipsoid gravity potential and magnetic potential, the magnetic anomaly field distribution equation generated by the ellipsoid is deduced by changing the aspect ratio, making the ellipsoid equivalent to a sphere. The result of formula derivation shows that the two magnetic anomaly fields are consistent. This paper uses COMSOL finite element software to model UXO, ellipsoids, and spheres and analyzes magnetic anomalies. The conclusion shows that the ellipsoid model can completely replace the UXO model when the error range of 1nT is satisfied. Finally, we established two sets of ellipsoids and calculated the magnetic anomalous field distributions on different planes using deduction formulas and finite element software. We compared the experimental results and found that the relative error of the two sets of data was within [Formula: see text]‰. Error analysis found that the error distribution is standardized and conforms to the normal distribution. The above mathematical analysis and finite element simulation prove that the calculation method is simple and reliable and provides a magnetic field distribution equation for subsequent UXO inversion.

With the slice tool in finite element software Magnet, 3D magnetic field distribution in airgap of an axial flux permanent magnet motor (AFPMM) is studied. Then analytical method, finite element method and average radius method are used to calculate the airgap magnetic flux of per pole respectively. The results which are gotten through these methods are approximate and can reflect per pole magnetic flux of AFPMM generally. The above research has achieved anticipated effect and provided a basis for the calculation of AFPMM airgap magnetic field.

Automotive rubber products are subjected to large deformations during working conditions, they often contact with other parts and they show highly nonlinear material behavior. Using finite element software for complex analysis of rubber parts can be a good way, although it has to contain special modules. Different types of rubber materials require the curve fitting possibility and the wide range choice of the material models. It is also important to be able to describe the viscoelastic property and the hysteresis. The remeshing possibility can be a useful tool for large deformation and the working circumstances require the contact and self contact ability as well. This article compares some types of the finite element software available on the market based on the above mentioned features.

Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) system use conductive coils made of superconductor wire to store energy, its application entirely depends on the design and development of superconducting magnet, as the magnetic storage element, during the operation of the superconducting magnet generates relatively strong magnetic field. In this paper, a 1MJ class single solenoidal SMES with Bi2223/Ag conductor is presented. On the basis of electromagnetic theory, subsequently infers mathematical model of magnetic field distribution by ANSYS finite element analysis software, modeling a two-dimensional electromagnetic analysis of 44 double pancakes to get the magnetic field distribution patterns. The results of the analysis provide a reference for the structural design, optimization of a superconducting magnet and shielding of stray magnetic field.

Based on the theoretical model, magnetic field distribution of rectangular teeth, two-sides dilated shape and one-side dilated shape teeth structure with common other conditions were calculated using finite element method when the sealing gap was 0.1mm and 0.12mm. The comparison of their results with the same sealing gap showed that rectangular teeth structure had the highest magnetic leakage. Moreover, the magnetic field distribution of sealing structures with rectangular stages on both the shaft and pole pieces under the same design and sealing gap were also calculated using the same method, whose result was compared with rectangular stages on pole pieces only. The comparison showed that the former did not have higher pressure capability obviously but led to higher magnetic leakage.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present an analytical calculation for estimating the leakages field distribution in surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SMPMSMs) according to a sub-domain field model for eccentricity fault detection. Design/methodology/approach The magnetic field domain is classified into four sub-domains of PMs, air gap, stator core and outer region. In the proposed method, the governing equations taking the rotor eccentricity effect into account per region and the interface boundary conditions between sub-domains are formulated using the regular perturbation technique, Taylor series and Fourier series expansion. Maxwell's equations are solved in different regions in the polar coordinate system regarding the boundary conditions. Findings The radial and tangential components of electromagnetic field distribution in all sub-domains of one SMPMSM are obtained using the proposed method analytically. Finite element analysis is used to validate the results of the proposed method; the results indicated that the analytical model matches the finite-element prediction up to 30% eccentricity, except for some peak values that depend on the harmonic order value. The results of this paper demonstrated that in the event of eccentricity, an asymmetric magnetic field is generated in the outer region of the machine. Although its amplitude is small, it can be an indicator for detecting eccentricity faults from the outside environment of the machine. Originality/value The formulas presented in this paper can be applied as a new technique for detecting eccentricity faults in these motors from the outside environment.

In consideration of low power density of electric excitation claw-pole alternator (EECA) and some difficulties in magnetic field regulation of permanent magnet claw-pole alternator (PMCA), a novel hybrid excitation brushless claw-pole alternator (HEBCA) is proposed in this paper. Its structure and field control principle are described. Three dimensional finite element analysis is used to obtain the no-load magnetic field distributions and field control capability under different field currents. The result shows that the flux of the prototype machine can be adjusted over a wide range with a relatively low field current

Aiming at the problems of large excitation loss and low power generation efficiency of silicon rectifier generators and the unstable output voltage of permanent magnet (PM) generators, a hybrid excitation generator (HEG) with suspended brushless claw pole electrical excitation rotor (EER) and combined magnetic pole PM rotor is proposed in the present work. With only one fractional slot winding stator, the generator adopts PM field as the main magnetic field and electrical excitation field as the auxiliary magnetic field, which not only retains the advantages of high efficiency of PM generators but also effectively reduces excitation consumption. The main structure parameters and the design method were analyzed, and a simulation analysis of no-load magnetic field distribution and flux regulation ability was carried out using finite element software to verify the rationality of the hybrid excitation parallel magnetic circuit design. Moreover, the no-load, load, regulation, and voltage regulation characteristics of the designed generator were tested, and the results show that the designed generator has a wide range of voltage regulation, which can ensure stable output voltage under variable speed and load conditions.
