This paper studies the consensus problem of a second-order multiagent system (MAS) with fixed communication delay under the structure of leaderless and leader-following systems. By using graph theory and finite-time control scheme, a distributed control protocol is proposed for each agent to reach consensus in a finite time. In practical application, the time delay of states is unavoidable, and for this, the consensus method is supposed to be extended to solve the time-delay problem. Thus, a finite-time consensus protocol with communication time delay is proposed in this paper. Compared with the general consensus method, the reliability and convergence speed of the system are increased by using the finite-time control. In addition, the protocol is distributed, and all agents have only local interactions. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed protocol is verified by two numerical simulations.

This paper focuses on event-triggered finite-time consensus problem of second-order multi-agent system, which is subjected to external bounded disturbance. First, a novel finite-time consensus control algorithm based on the event-triggering control scheme is proposed. The proposed algorithm contains a saturation function that is disturbance rejection and aims at eliminating the chattering problem caused by the discontinuity of the control algorithm in some existing work. Further, the utilization of saturation function reduces damages to the actuators and decreases energy consumptions in practical applications. Second, an event-triggering function is developed to generate the control event sequences, which is fully continuous communication free and avoids continuous update of the controller by contrast with real-time control method and continuous communication event-triggered control scheme. Third, finite-time bounded consensus can be reached with the scale of the convergence region adjusted by appropriate parameter selecting. A rigorous proof based on Lyapunov stability analysis is given to verify that the event-triggered control algorithm, under the derived conditions, solves the second-order finite-time consensus with chattering free and being robust to external disturbances as well as excluding the Zeno behavior. Finally, two simulation examples are performed to validate the effectiveness of the results.

This paper investigates the finite-time consensus problem of leader-following multiagent systems. The dynamical models for all following agents and the leader are assumed the same general form of linear system, and the interconnection topology among the agents is assumed to be switching and undirected. We mostly consider the continuous-time case. By assuming that the states of neighbouring agents are known to each agent, a sufficient condition is established for finite-time consensus via a neighbor-based state feedback protocol. While the states of neighbouring agents cannot be available and only the outputs of neighbouring agents can be accessed, the distributed observer-based consensus protocol is proposed for each following agent. A sufficient condition is provided in terms of linear matrix inequalities to design the observer-based consensus protocol, which makes the multiagent systems achieve finite-time consensus under switching topologies. Then, we discuss the counterparts for discrete-time case. Finally, we provide an illustrative example to show the effectiveness of the design approach.

This paper proposed a finite time convergence global sliding mode control scheme for the second-order multiple models control system. Firstly, the global sliding surface without reaching law for a single model control system is designed and the tracking error finite time convergence and global stability are proved. Secondly, we generalize the above scheme to the second-order multimodel control system and obtain the global sliding mode control law. Then, the convergent and stable performances of the closed-loop control system with multimodel controllers are proved. Finally, a simulation example shows that the proposed control scheme is more effective and useful compared with the traditional sliding mode control scheme.

Due to the potential of thermal storage being similar to that of the conventional battery, air conditioning (AC) has gained great popularity for its potential to provide ancillary services and emergency reserves. In order to integrate numerous inverter ACs into secondary frequency control, a hierarchical distributed control framework which incorporates a virtual battery model of inverter AC is developed. A comprehensive derivation of a second-order virtual battery model has been strictly posed to formulate the frequency response characteristics of inverter AC. In the hierarchical control scheme, a modified control performance index is utilized to evaluate the available capacity of traditional regulation generators. A coordinated frequency control strategy is derived to exploit the complementary and advantageous characteristics of regulation generators and aggregated AC. A distributed consensus control strategy is developed to guarantee the fair participation of heterogeneous AC in frequency regulation. The finite-time consensus protocol is introduced to ensure the fast convergence of power tracking and the state-of-charge (SOC) consistency of numerous ACs. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is validated by a variety of illustrative examples.
