The Chinese soft scale species in the genus Coccus Linnaeus, 1758 (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Coccidae) were studied. Coccus cambodiensis Takahashi and the Malaysian species C. cameronensis Takahashi are considered to be non-congeneric with Coccus hesperidum Linnaeus, 1758, the type species of Coccus, and are transferred to Prococcus Avasthi, 1993, as Prococcus cambodiensis (Takahashi, 1942), comb. n. and Prococcus cameronensis (Takahashi, 1952), comb. n. The generic diagnosis of Prococcus is revised. In the genus Coccus, two new species are described and illustrated based on adult females: Coccus nanningensis Cao & Feng, sp. n. from Guangxi, China, on Ficus carica (Moraceae), and Coccus cephalotaxus Cao & Feng, sp. n. from Shannxi, China, on Cephalotaxus sinensis (Taxaceae). Identification keys to separate adult females of Prococcus from Coccus, the 14 species of Coccus found in China, and all three species of Prococcus are provided.

The Prabhasa Moore, 1878 genus-group is reviewed. The male and female genitalia of Prabhasa venosa Moore, 1878, the type species of the genus, are described and illustrated for the first time. Two new genera, Macohasa Dubatolov, Volynkin & Kishida, gen. nov. and Chinasa Dubatolov, Volynkin & Kishida, gen. nov. and two new species, Macohasa cernyi Dubatolov, Volynkin & Kishida, sp. nov. and Chinasa sapa Dubatolov, Volynkin & Kishida, sp. nov. are described for Prabhasa venosa sensu authors. Seven new combinations are established: Zadadra plumbeomicans (Hampson, 1894), comb. nov., Zadadra monastyrskyi (Dubatolov, 2012), comb. nov., Macohasa orientalis (Hampson, 1905), comb. nov., Macohasa tetraspila (Černý, 2009), comb. nov., Macohasa dimorpha (Hampson, 1918), comb. nov., Chinasa costalis costalis (Moore, 1878), comb. nov. and Chinasa costalis bicoloriceps (Strand, 1916), comb. nov.

The genus Anystipalpus Berlese, 1911, of uncertain prior placement in the superfamilies Ascoidea or Dermanyssoidea, is redescribed, based on reexamination of type and other material of the type-species, A. percicola Berlese, and of material representing Anystipalpus livshitsi (Eidelberg) new combination and two new species, A. labiduricola n. sp. and A. kazemii n. sp. Anystipalpus nataliae (Eidelberg) new combination and Anystipalpus ukrainicus (Sklyar) new combination are determined to be junior synonyms of A. percicola Berlese and A. livshitsi (Eidelberg), respectively, new synonymies. The genus is known thus far only from adult females phoretic under the elytra of carabid beetles and the tegmina of labidurid earwigs in Eurasia. The relationships between it and the closely related Antennoseius Berlese, 1916 and Vitzthumia Thor, 1930, are reviewed, and the options for the family level placement of these genera are reconsidered. Attention is given to some gnathosomatic attributes that are commonly overlooked in description of species of these closely related genera. Phoresy and the role of adult female morphs in the life history of these mites, as well as the extraordinary phoretic association of one species with earwigs are discussed.

A synthesis of the present knowledge of the Spanish Peritelini is presented. Two new genera are separated from Peritelus auctt.: Euplister (type species: Peritelus susanae Seidlitz, 1866) and Pseudoperitelus (type species: Peritelus globulicollis Seidlitz, 1862). Thirteen new species are described from Spain: Meira gerundana, M. medae, M. tarraconensis, Pseudomeira baetica, P. eremita, P. lepida, Euplister andalusicus, E. frater, E. megalophthalmus, E. mimus, E. moroderi, E. trifolii, E. velazquezi. New combinations are: Euplister susanae (Seidlitz, 1866), E. hybridus (Seidlitz, 1871), E. setabensis (Hustache, 1921), E. magnicollis (Desbrochers, 1896), E. coniceps (Desbrochers, 1897), Pseudoperitelus senex (Boheman, 1834), P. globulicollis (Seidlitz, 1871), P. espanoli (Roudier, 1958) and P. lopezi (Hoffmann, 1961), and one new synonym is proposed: Simo cremieri (Boheman, 1842) = Peritelus maroccanus Pic, 1920, syn. n. One genus, Meira Jacquelin du Val, 1853, and two species, Gymnomorphus nigrans (Fairmaire, 1862) and Meirella florentina (Stierlin, 1884), are newly recorded from Spain, bringing the total number of Peritelini known from Iberia to ten genera and thirtysix species. Diagnoses, detailed descriptions and data on distribution and ecology, mostly unpublished, are provided for each species, and a catalogue, identification keys, distribution maps and figures of key anatomical characters are added for the Iberian species. Caenopsis Bach, 1854 is excluded from Peritelini and confirmed as belonging in Trachyphloeini.

AbstractMorphology, distribution, and habitat data are presented for three species of the oribatid mite genus Gymnodampia Jacot occurring in North America. A revised generic diagnosis is given and the type species Gymnodampia setata (Berlese) is redescribed based on topotypic material from Missouri. Immatures of G. setata are described and aspects of their biology are presented. Two new species from North America, G. jacotisp. nov. and G. lindquistisp. nov., are proposed and described on the basis of adults, and a key is given for North American species of Gymnodampia. The ameroid genera Cristamerus Hammer, from Pakistan and China, and Defectamerus Aoki, from Japan, Korea, and China, are considered junior synonyms of Gymnodampia, and G. conformis (Fujikawa) is considered a junior synonym of G. fusca (Fujikawa). Immatures of G. setata are apheredermous, but with a circular line of dehiscence, whereas known immatures of the superfamily Ameroidea are eupheredermous. Nonetheless, without convincing apomorphic traits linking Gymnodampia to any known apheredermous family of Brachypylina, we hypothesize that Gymnodampia has lost the eupheredermy characteristic of Ameroidea, and we place it in the family Ameridae on the basis of adult similarities.

Reticulaphis species (Aphididae: Hormaphidinae: Nipponaphidini) feed mainly on Ficus species as secondary hosts, and are endemic to eastern Asia. The fauna of this genus was surveyed in Taiwan, and material from East Asian countries borrowed from the Natural History Museum, London. Taxonomic problems associated with variation between samples are discussed, and as a result four subspecies of R. distylii (van der Goot) are recognized as independent species: asymmetrica Hille Ris Lambers & Takahashi, fici (Takahashi), foveolatae (Takahashi), and rotifera Hille Ris Lambers & Takahashi. R. distylii subsp. minutissima Hille Ris Lambers & Takahashi is synonymised with R. foveolatae (Takahashi); the taxonomic position of subsp. similis remains ‘incertae sedis’. Two new species are described based on apterous adult females: R. inflata sp.n. from Taiwan and Hong Kong, and R. septica sp. n. from Taiwan. An illustrated key is provided to the eight recognized species, but excluding the type species, R. shiiae Takahashi that remains known only from its description.

In the present paper, two new genera of the Prabhasa Moore, 1878 / Zadadra Moore, 1878 generic complex are described: Dentadra gen. nov. (Type species: Prabhasa flavicosta Moore, 1878) and Prabadra gen. nov. (Type species: Prabadra occidentalis sp. nov.). Additionally, two new species are described: Prabadra occidentalis sp. nov. (NE India and N Thailand) and Zadadra confusa sp. nov. (Nepal, NE India, Bhutan and W China). The new synonymy is established: Zadadra distorta Moore, 1872 = Zadadra neodistorta Joshi, Kirti & N. Singh, 2015, syn. nov. Two new combinations are established: Dentadra flavicosta (Moore, 1878), comb. nov. and Prabadra monastyrskii (Dubatolov, 2012), comb. nov. The lectotype is designated for Lithosia distorta Moore, 1872. Adults, male and female genitalia are illustrated. A checklist of the Prabhasa / Zadadra generic complex is provided.

Bicaubittacus gen. nov., the second genus of the family Bittacidae from the Oriental Region, is erected with Bittacus appendiculatus Esben-Petersen, 1927 as its type species. A key to the 17 extant genera of Bittacidae is compiled to include the new genus. Two new species, Bicaubittacus yangi sp. nov. and Bi. mengyangicus sp. nov. are described and illustrated from China. Three new combinations, Bicaubittacus appendiculatus (Esben-Petersen, 1927) and Bi. longiprocessus (Huang & Hua, 2005) from China, and Bi. burmanus (Tjeder, 1974) from Myanmar (formerly Burma), are transferred from the genus Bittacus Latreille. A key to the five species of Bicaubittacus is provided. The validity of Neobittacus and Thyridates is briefly discussed

The Southeast Asian soft scale insects (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Coccidae) associated with ants of the Crematogaster borneensis-group (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) and living in the hollow stems of Macaranga plants (Euphorbiaceae) are revised taxonomically. Ten species of the genus Coccus L. are recognised: seven were described previously and three new species are described herein. The species are: Coccus caviramicolus Morrison, C. circularis Morrison, C. heckrothi Gullan & Kondo sp. n., C. lambirensis Gullan & Kondo sp. n., C. macarangicolus Takahashi, C. macarangae Morrison, C. penangensis Morrison, C. pseudotumuliferus Gullan & Kondo sp. n., C. secretus Morrison and C. tumuliferus Morrison. All of these species are described or redescribed and newly illustrated based on the adult females, and a key to distinguish the species is provided. We designate a lectotype for C. macarangicolus. The first-instar nymphs of all species are morphologically extremely similar and therefore only the first-instar nymph of C. macarangae is described and illustrated. Seven of these species currently are known only from Macaranga, but C. macarangae, C. secretus and perhaps C. pseudotumuliferus have been recorded from the hollow stems of several other ant-plants and a few non-myrmecophytes. The Coccus species from Macaranga are closely related to C. hesperidum L., the type species of the genus, and therefore are retained in the genus Coccus even though the adult females exhibit a few morphological differences from C. hesperidum. The species of Coccus from Macaranga appear to be parthenogenetic because no male nymphs or adults have been found, despite extensive collecting.

Seringia J.Gay and Keraudrenia J.Gay are widely spread in Australia, and one species occurs in Madagascar. Revision of these closely related genera suggested that neither genus is monophyletic on the basis of morphological or preliminary molecular data. As a result, Keraudrenia is subsumed into Seringia. There are now 20 species of Seringia, including the currently accepted type species Seringia platyphylla J.Gay (=Seringia arborescens (W.T.Aiton) Druce). Five new species S. adenogyna C.F.Wilkins, S. cacaobrunnea C.F.Wilkins, S. elliptica C.F.Wilkins, S. undulata C.F.Wilkins and S. saxatilis C.F.Wilkins are described. Four species of Keraudrenia initially described as Seringia and recognised as the latter by F. J. H. von Mueller are reinstated (S. adenolasia F.Muell., S. corollata Steetz, S. lanceolata Steetz, S. nephrosperma F.Muell.). Five previous combinations of Keraudrenia and Seringia as Seringia are recognised (S. hermanniifolia (J.Gay) F.Muell., S. hillii (Benth.) F.Muell., S. hookeriana (Walp.) F.Muell., S. integrifolia (Steud.) F.Muell., S. velutina (Steetz) F.Muell.) and five new combinations are made (S. collina (Domin) C.F.Wilkins & Whitlock, S. denticulata (C.T.White) C.F.Wilkins & Whitlock, S. exastia (C.F.Wilkins) C.F.Wilkins & Whitlock, S. katatona (C.F.Wilkins) C.F.Wilkins & Whitlock, S. macrantha (Baill.) C.F.Wilkins & Whitlock. Keraudrenia collina var. multiflora Domin is placed in synonymy under S. nephrosperma F.Muell. Keraudrenia corollata var. denticulata C.T.White is recognised as a distinct species, S. denticulata (C.T.White) C.F.Wilkins & Whitlock. Anatomical studies, taxonomic descriptions, distribution maps, illustrations and identification keys are presented for Seringia, and an identification key to genera of the tribe Lasiopetaleae is provided.

The leafhopper tribe Platyjassini, endemic to Madagascar, is revised, largely based on specimens obtained in a recent bioinventory project led by the California Academy of Sciences. Platyjassini was previously known based on the type genus, Platyjassus Evans, 1953, and four described species. Betsileonas marmorata (Blanchard, 1840), the largest leafhopper recorded from Madagascar, presently known from a few specimens collected > 100 years ago and recently considered a genus and species incertae sedis within Cicadellidae, is newly placed in Platyjassini. Fourteen new genera and 54 new species are described and illustrated, and three new combinations are proposed. Pachyjassus gen. nov. includes three new species: Pachyjassus alatus sp. nov., Pachyjassus basifurcatus sp. nov. and Pachyjassus ranomafanensis sp. nov. Pallijassus gen. nov. is erected to include two species previously placed in Platyjassus, Pallijassus reticulatus (Evans, 1959) comb. nov. and Pallijassus stenospatulatus (Evans, 1959) comb. nov. Petalojassus gen. nov. includes one new species, Petalojassus ochrescens sp. nov. Phaiojassus gen. nov. includes seven new species: Phaiojassus acutus sp. nov., Phaiojassus bispinosus sp. nov., Phaiojassus constrictus sp. nov., Phaiojassus grandis sp. nov., Phaiojassus spatulatus sp. nov., Phaiojassus undulatus sp. nov. and Phaiojassus unispinosus sp. nov.
