Abstract Background Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is one of the most common and distressing complaints reported by cancer patients during chemotherapy considerably impacting all aspects of a patient’s life (physical, psychosocial, professional, and socioeconomic). The aim of this study was to assess the severity of cancer-related fatigue in a group of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and explore the association between fatigue scores and sociodemographic, clinical, biological, psychiatric, and genetic factors. Methods A cross-sectional pilot study carried out at the oncology outpatient unit of Hôtel-Dieu de France University Hospital recruited 67 breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy between November 2017 and June 2019 to evaluate fatigue using the EORTC QLQ-C30 scale (European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire). Genotyping for seven gene polymorphisms (COMT, DRD2, OPRM1, CLOCK, PER2, CRY2, ABCB1) was performed using the Lightcycler® (Roche). Results The prevalence of fatigue was 46.3%. Multivariable analysis taking the fatigue score as the dependent variable showed that a higher number of cycles and a lower hemoglobin level were significantly associated with higher odds of exhibiting fatigue. Moreover, having at least one C allele for DRD2 SNP (vs. TT) was significantly associated with a 4.09 higher odds of expressing fatigue compared to TT patients. Finally, patients with at least one C allele for CLOCK SNP tended to display higher fatigue levels than TT patients. Conclusions Our study showed that anemic breast cancer patients with a high number of chemotherapy cycles and those carrying at least one C allele for DRD2 and CLOCK SNPs are at greater risk of exhibiting fatigue. Since no previous research has reported such genetic results, future studies are necessary to confirm our findings.

e20637 Background: Cancer-related fatigue is underrecognized and poorly managed. Unpredictability and rapid onset in fatigue is stressed by cancer patients but seldom addressed by health care professionals. Although sudden onset of cancer-related fatigue is anecdotally documented across qualitative studies, the symptom has never been systematically investigated. Our purpose is to describe the symptom and clinical characteristics of SOF in breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study enrolling female breast cancer outpatients undergoing chemotherapy in an urban cancer center. A brief questionnaire assessing the symptom characteristics of SOF was completed by subjects. Comprehensive metabolic panel and complete blood counts, were obtained. Descriptive statistics described the symptom characteristics of SOF. Mann-Whitney tests examined the differences between those who did and did not experience SOF. Results: Thirty patients have been enrolled. Median age 53 years (31 to 65; SD=7.7), 60% were Black. 80% (n=24) experienced SOF in the past 7 days with a median of 4 days a week and 2.5 episodes per day. SOF was most likely (75%) to occur in the afternoon while patients were engaging in activities. Levels of fatigue before, during, and after a specific episode of SOF were 5, 9, and 5, respectively, on 0–10 (highest) rating scale. Weakness, sweating, or pain sometimes accompanied SOF. When SOF occurred, individuals immediately needed to stop activities to rest until it went away. Those who experienced SOF had significantly lower levels of calcium (Median=8.9 vs. 9.4), albumin (Median=3.7 vs. 7.1), and hematocrit (Median=32.1 vs. 36) (p<0.05). Those who experienced SOF also had higher levels of GPT (Median=25.5 vs. 17), lower levels of total protein (Median=6.7 vs. 7.1), WBC (Median=4.9 vs. 8.9), RBC (Median=3.4 vs. 3.9), and hemoglobin (Median=10.7 vs. 11.4). Conclusions: Our ongoing study is one of the first to identify the characteristics of patients at high risk of SOF. SOF needs to be recognized and managed when patients undergo chemotherapy. Associated conditions should be identified and addressed. The ultimate goal is to minimize the distress and improve the quality of life of patients receiving chemotherapy. Abstract Background Despite the progress in assessment and treatment of breast cancer, being diagnosed with it or receiving chemotherapy treatment is still conceived as a traumatic experience. Women develop negative thoughts about life and death with detrimental effects on their daily physical functioning/activities, emotional state and overall quality of life. The aim of our study was to evaluate the level of anxiety and depression among breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and explore the correlation between these psychological disorders, clinical, sociodemographic and genetic factors. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among breast cancer patients undergoing intravenous chemotherapy at the oncology outpatient unit of Hôtel-Dieu de France hospital (November 2017–June 2019; Ethical approval number: CEHDF1016). All patients gave their written informed consent and completed several validated scales, including the Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale (HADS) for the assessment of anxiety and depression. Sleep quality, insomnia, cognitive function, fatigue and pain were also evaluated. Genotyping for certain gene polymorphisms (CLOCK, PER2, CRY2, OPRM1, ABCB1, COMT, DRD2) was performed using the Lightcycler® (Roche). Results A total of 112 women was included. The prevalence of depression was 43.4%, and 56.2% of the patients reported anxiety (based on the HADS classification). Multivariable analysis showed that higher cognitive scores and taking fosaprepitant were significantly associated with lower depression and anxiety scores. Moreover, being married compared to single was also associated with lower depression scores, whereas higher PSQI scores (worse sleep quality) and having the PER2 AA variant genotype compared to GG were significantly associated with higher depression scores. Finally, reporting a more severe insomnia and having the COMT Met/Met genotype were significantly associated with a higher anxiety score. Conclusions Our study demonstrated a strong relationship between depression scores and cognitive impairment, sleep quality, marital status, fosaprepitant intake, and PER2 polymorphism, while anxiety scores were correlated to cognitive impairment, insomnia severity, fosaprepitant intake, and COMT polymorphism. The association with PER polymorphism was not previously reported. Identification of genetic and clinical risk factors for anxiety and depression would help clinicians implement an individualized management therapy aiming at preventing and alleviating the burden of these symptoms in breast cancer patients, hence improving their overall quality of life.

Background: Cancer is a deadly disease for anyone. One type of cancer is breast cancer. This type of cancer has a big psychological impact on sufferers because of the risk of breast removal surgery for sufferers so that cancer can destroy their future and changing quality of life. Decreased quality of life in women with breast cancer causes them to be unable to fulfill their roles, duties and also mantaining health status. Therefore, the purposes of this study are to identified quality of life women with breast cancer. Methods: The method of this study used descriptive analysis, the study was conducted in the breast cancer community in Surabaya, East Java. A total of 30 people became respondents to this study and filled in 30 questions of European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-C-30 (EORTC QLQ C30). Results: The general health of the patients was an 664.25, which illustrates that the quality of life for cancer patients is in moderate condition. This is because in this study the last week symptoms such as shortness of breath, weakness, pain, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, difficulty defecating, diarrhea, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, tension, difficulty walking close, lying in a chair / mattress is reduced or not. They still find it difficult to do strenuous activities, walk long distances, feel worried, have difficulty remembering and exper.ience financial difficulties. However, their lives are not disrupted due to physicality or therapy Conclusion: The general health of breast cancer patients in the Surabaya breast cancer community is an 664.25, which describes the quality of life of cancer patients in moderate condition . It is expected that the hospital can socialize about the group of breast cancer to patients so that patients can share  experience, obtain various health-related information, and will make patients feel they have many friends with cancer fighters so that it will further improve the quality of life

Breast cancer is a disease that occurs due to excessive growth or uncontrolled development of cells or breast tissue. Quality of life is an important goal in the treatment of cancer, and concerns about physical, psychological, body image disorders. The purpose of this study is to find out the factors related to the quality of life of breast cancer patients at Raden Mattaher Jambi Hospital in 2019. Research uses a coelative descriptive research design with a cross sectional approach. The research population is breast cancer patients who are treating at Raden Mattaher Jambi Hospital. Sampling is done on a sampling quota. Data collection instruments use the respondent's characteristic data questionnaire, coping mechanism, and quality of life questionnaire using the EORTC-QLQ 30 format. The data was analyzed univariate and bivariate with the Kai-Squared test (CI 95%). The results of the study obtained the average age of respondents was 51.8 years, the majority were elementary and high school educated with a proportion of 35.7%, and most did not work as many as 35 people (62.5%). The results of bivariate analysis that there is a relationship between the length of the cancer and the mechanism of coffee and the quality of life of breast cancer patients in Raden Mattaher Jambi Hospital. It is hoped that hospitals can facilitate the interaction activities of cancer patients through the formation of groups for cancer patients so that they can share experiences and information in terms of improving quality of life. For nursing research, it is hoped that this research can be the basic data in carrying out the next research.

BACKGROUND: Cancer has to become the scariest disease and tends to reduce the quality of life of the patient. Therefore, it is not only a medical treatment that needs to be conducted but also a psychological treatment. AIM: to analyse the relationship between affective psychopathology and the quality of life of breast cancer patients who are receiving radiotherapy treatment. METHODS: This research was a correlative analytical study with a cross-sectional approach using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) instrument to assess psychopathological features and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-C30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) to determine the quality of life. This research was conducted in March 2016-July 2016 at Vina Estetika Cancer Center Hospital, Medan, Indonesia. As many as 47 subjects were divided into two criteria; Inclusion criteria, participants with breast cancer who were undergoing radiotherapy, aged over 18 years, with HADS score ≥ 17, and the exclusion criteria, were patients suffering from chronic psychiatry diseases. RESULTS: Affective psychopathology was indicated to result in a significant negative correlation with the quality of life of breast cancer patients which whom were treated with radiotherapy with p = 0.035 and r = -0.267. This suggests that with a higher HADS, a decrease in quality of life will occur. CONCLUSIONS: Affective psychopathological comorbidities have a great influence on the quality of life of patients who are undergoing radiotherapy. Thus, cancer management must include screening for psychopathological morbidity. Moreover, psychological rehabilitation must also be provided along with the cancer treatment.

Background and objective: Cancer-related fatigue is greatest frequent upsetting sense of tiredness or exhaustion can happen regardless of cancer type and could be experienced physically or emotionally, and or cognitively, that is associated with the tumor or its treat-ment. The current study aimed at assessing prevalence of cancer related fatigue among women with breast cancer. Method: A descriptive cross- sectional study design was conducted from 8th of October 2018 to 8th October 2019. To find out the prevalence of cancer-related fatigue among fe-male breast cancer patients at Nankali Hospital in Erbil city. A sample of 60 breast cancer patient was obtained through non-probability purposive convenience sampling tech-niques. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 23 for windows. Results: The results showed that the highest percentage of participants (45%) were from age group between 39-54, most of them were from urban area, graduated from primary school, married, however; 53.3% of breast cancer women they had family history of breast cancer. Regarding breast cancer stages, 40% of participants were in third stage. Most of the breast cancer patients were receiving chemotherapy treatment and they had surgery (81.7% and 71.7% respectively). Concerning cancer related fatigue 75% of participants suffered from fatigue, nonetheless; fatigue severity among participants range from severe 53.3% to moderate 48.3%. Also, physical fatigue was a common type of fatigue among women with breast cancer. Conclusion: One of the most common complains symptom of patient with cancer is fa-tigue. Cancer related fatigue impact physical, emotional, cognitive domains of patients’. Moreover, cancer-related fatigue has undesirable effect on patients, mood, daily task per-formance, and the patient’s life.

Introduction: In these days, one of the terrifying cancers for women throughout the world is breast cancer. The treatment of cancer should be holistic. Patients need family support to create a good quality of life. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and quality of life in breast cancer patients at the Chemotherapy Unit of Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda. Methods: Quantitative research with analytical study and cross-sectional design. Sampling was done with a total sample of 76 respondents. The instruments used in this research were family support standards and the Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) for quality of life. The data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: The p-value was 0.003, OR = 4.090, indicating that there was a relationship between family support and quality of life in breast cancer patients. Conclusion: There is a relationship between family support and quality of life in breast cancer patients. It is expected that the hospital can proceed in providing health education and motivation to breast cancer patients and their families related to the importance of family support for the quality of life of breast cancer patients.
