The work is devoted to the study of the sensitivity of the electronic component base (ECB) to the effects of heavy charged particles. At the same time, the degree of sensitivity is distinguished depending on the functional group of ECB products to the effects of ionization radiation from outer space and on the design and technological design of ECB products. The paper presents the characteristics and conditions for the use of ECB in the radio-electronic equipment of outer space to ensure minimal sensitivity to the effects of ionization radiation and to the thyristor effect. After the sensitivity analysis of ECB products is carried out, a preliminary selection of ECB is performed, requiring testing. The article discusses the criteria for determining the ECB that requires testing and is possible to use without testing. The methods of increasing the durability of radio-electronic equipment of space equipment and the directions of optimization of the methodology of analysis of ECB lists are determined.

The paper considers methods of increasing the durability of radio-electronic equipment in space, namely, methods of detecting and correcting errors during the action of the HCP. Currently, redundancy methods are used to ensure durability, when two or three processors work in parallel in the system, and a special node compares the results of their work. If the results do not match, an error signal will be generated, and the system will begin to perform actions to correct it. The article describes and classifies the main circuit, structural-functional, algorithmic methods for detecting and correcting errors. It is shown that circuit solutions lead to an increase in the crystal area. Therefore, the problem arises of ensuring radiation resistance with a minimum increase in the crystal area.

A main number of AD WME failures is caused by replaceable components (RCs) failures of radio-electronic equipment (REE). However, a significant part of the RCs is repairable, i.e. their operability can be restored by means of repair. The repaired RCs and aggregates from the AD WME component parts can be further returned to form a part of spare tools and accessories and used as intended to repair the AD WME component parts by an aggregate method. Until recently, a main option of faulty RCs and aggregates repair arrangement has been their delivery to industrial enterprises for repair. It resulted in delivery delays of the repaired RCs and aggregates incorporated in the AD WME pieces, a necessity to increase a number of the RCs in spare tools and accessories kits, as well as in value appreciation of the AD WME operation. Owing to creation of unified mobile organizational repair systems in JSC Principle Production and Technical Company Granit, now there is an opportunity of current repair of the faulty RCs and aggregates delivered for these purposes to deployment sites of the maintainable AD WME within the unified mobile organizational repair systems. The article considers the issues related to military technical and economic feasibility of implementing the options of RCs and aggregates repair organization: in the field environment (applying the unified and mobile organizational repair systems), at fixed-site maintenance organizations, and at manufacturing facilities.

The use of microelectronic products in outer space is possible if protection is provided against special external influencing factors, including radiation effect. For digital integrated circuits manufactured using submicron CMOS processes, the greatest influence is exerted by radiation effects caused by exposure to a heavy charged particle. The use of special design tools in the development of dual-purpose microcircuits, with increased resistance to the impact of heavy charged particles, prevents single events from occurring. Thus, the use of modern software products for device and technological modeling in microelectronics when developing the element base of radiation-resistant microcircuits for space purposes will cut the time to develop new products and make it possible to modernize (improve performance) already existing device and circuitry solutions. The paper delivers the results of modeling the impacts of heavy charged particles with a magnitude of linear energy transfer equal to 1.81, 10.1, 18.8, 55.0 MeV·cm2/mg, corresponding to nitrogen ions 15N+4 with an energy E = 1,87 MeV; argon 40Ar+12 with an energy E = 372 MeV; ferrum 56Fe+15 with an energy E = 523 MeV; xenon 131Xe+35 with an energy E = 1217 MeV, on electrical characteristics of n-MOSFET device structure. The dependences of the maximum drain current IС on the motion trajectory of a heavy charged particle and the ambient temperature are shown.

The paper considers circuit engineering methods for protecting the electronic component base from the effects of heavy charged particles. One of the main methods is to increase the capacity of the device, which leads to an increase in the capacity of diffusion regions and a decrease in the frequency of single events. The structure of a capacitor is shown, which is connected to various nodes of the circuit to increase the sensitivity of the capacitance of the node. The article focuses on the method of using active RC circuits in the feedback circuit of a storage device cell. The advantages and disadvantages of the methods of using a storage device cell with internal redundancy are noted. The paper shows that the use of circuit engineering methods will provide the required level of fault and fault tolerance to the effects of heavy charged particles.

The analysis of information on the stability of the electronic component base (ECB) in the development of radio-electronic equipment (REE) of spacecraft (spacecraft) is an important and urgent task. The paper considers the main components of the approaches of foreign organizations developing radio space technology to ensure its radiation resistance. The design approaches of Thales Alenia Space, Airbus Defense and Space, and the European Space Agency are presented. The article outlines the main directions for optimizing the procedures for the preliminary selection of ECB, which consist in ensuring the required resistance of REE SC at the ECB level with ensuring the reliability of data on durability, in minimizing the costs of applying resistance enhancement measures (through the use of a promising ECB with increased resistance characteristics), to replace ECB.

The paper considers the requirements for test benches for studying the appearance of single radiation effects in the electronic component base (ECB) at elevated and low temperatures. Examples of the influence of the temperature regime on the levels of ECB stability, as well as the influence of the passive and active modes of radio-electronic equipment on the occurrence of single events are presented.

The transition to the leaky design of the instrument compartment of the spacecraft inevitably leads to additional thermal loads on the components of the onboard electronic equipment due to a change in the heat transfer scheme. The thermal mode of operation of the onboard radio-electronic equipment of the spacecraft is one of the important factors for ensuring the long term active existence of the spacecraft. Ensuring the long term of active existence of spacecraft is the most important scientific, engineering and economic task, the solution of which requires a deep systematic approach at all stages of the creation and operation of onboard electronic equipment of the spacecraft. The strategic objective for ensuring the long term of the spacecraft’s active existence is the implementation at all stages of the life cycle of onboard radio-electronic equipment of the highest achievable reliability indicators through the using of modern design and technological solutions, as well as effective methods for its design and production. This article presents the results of experimental work to reduce heat transfer resistance between onboard electronic equipment and the spacecraft’s thermal control system. As a result of the work, the main data were obtained on improving the heat sink efficiency of the energy-converting equipment of the spacecraft, the effectiveness of measures to ensure heat removal of the onboard radio-electronic equipment of the spacecraft was confirmed.
