Abstract Background Foreign body ingestion is a common clinical problem. The upper esophagus is the most common site of foreign body, accounting for more than 75% of all cases, but cases with a foreign body in the duodenal papilla or common bile duct are rarely reported. Case presentation Herein, we report a rare case that a patient’s abdominal pain resembling gastric ulcer was caused by a 3 cm long fishbone inserted into the duodenal papilla. Conclusion Fishbone inserted into the duodenal papilla can cause an abdominal pain resembling gastric ulcer. Endoscopy is useful for the diagnosis and treatment of fishbone ingestion in clinical.

Gastric melanomas are usually metastatic, and primary is almost rare entity. Present case is a rare malignant melanoma of the gastric region with barely reported cases in the literature. A 65 year old male presented with pain abdomen and melena He was evaluated with relevant investigation. UGI endoscopy and PETCT shows large polypoidal irregular gastric mass in the proximal curvature extending upto gastroesophageal junction. Endoscopic biopsy a ulcero-infiltrating tumour, Individual cells are large, round, having moderately pleomorphic, hyperchromatic nuclei with prominent eosinophilic nucleoli and moderate eosinophilic cytoplasm. Immunohistochemistry of S100 and HMB45 was positive and negative for CK7 and CK20. Early diagnosis of primary gastric melanoma allows for better prognosis of the patient from the right intervention.

Electron microscopy and energy dispersive x-ray microanalysis (EDXA) are found to be very useful tools for identification of etiologic agents in pneumoconiosis or interstitial pulmonary disorders. Pulmonary interstitial fibrosis and granulomatosis are frequently associated with occupational and environmental pollution. Numerous reports of pneumoconiosis in various occupations such as coal and gold miners are presented in the literature. However, there is no known documented case of pulmonary changes in workers in the sandpaper industry. This study reports a rare case of pulmonary granulomatosis containing deposits from abrasives of sandpaper diagnosed by using EDXA.
