The Virtual Education was born in 2002 from a joint project between the Center for Improvement, Experimentation and Pedagogical Research CPEIP and the Center for Education and Technology Links. The author considers that it is necessary to make a classification of the new technologies of information and communication since nowadays they are in an increasing process of spreading and diversifying all over the world and this is a process that includ Abordar las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación en el contexto educativo exige partir de una amplia caracterización de las mismas.

Abstract The introduction of new technologies, video in particular, in educational and pedagogical research has not only changed how research is conducted in the educational field but has also brought about significant changes in teacher training. The advent of digitalisation, along with the miniaturisation of both video cameras and storage media, has led to a dramatic increase in the use of video, particularly in terms of video production. This has led to the introduction of new teaching practices and new training initiatives derived from the analysis of these practices. The use of video, at an educational and didactic level on the one hand, and as an instrument for field observation on the other, offers a variety of benefits, along with some critical issues. One of the advantages is the capacity to allow for an analytical vision of complex actions, which may be reviewed at different times, by a variety of interlocutors. The aim of this study is to present a reflection based on research conducted in nine digital classes, focussing on the use of video as both an instrument for recording, collecting and analysing data, as well as a training tool in the didactic practice of teachers.

This systematization of experiences in the course “Teaching Resources for Commercial Education Learning” mainly aims to analyze the teacher role and the relation with the utility and pertinence given to the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the secretarial major. This course is part the bachelor´s degree program in Commercial Education. The methodology consisted in elaborating teaching devices with traditional technology and resources, as well as observing high school lessons where the secretarial major was taught. The observations led the students to elaborate teaching proposals. A qualitative approach was used during the systematization process. The main findings show that most of the teachers do not use ICT as teaching resources in their classes. Students pointed out to the need for having more interactive lessons with the help of technological devices. Through this systematization it is expected that teachers and students will be motivated to use and recognize the need to innovate their classes with new technologies.

This article takes into discussion as problematic Initial Teacher Training (ITT) of Basic Education in Uruguay and analyses the place of information and communication technologies (ICT) in it, and also how they are influenced (Ball, 1998, 2001; Bowe, Ball & Gold, 1992) by international policies and how they are recontextualized (Bernstein, 1993, 1998). The questions that guide the study are: What did the Global Agenda on ICT stated in the ITT? What influences do these policies have on ITT? How recontextualization process occurs? In the empirical part, the study collected and analyzed ITT plans and interviews with the director of the course, training teachers and students who are doing their teaching practice. These data, processed by content analysis, suggests that there is a global agenda that points to the need of ICT integration in education, and as a result, initial teacher training should have content that ensures the effective use ICT. This global agenda influences Uruguay’s education policies which are recontextualized through institutional practices that have to adapt to students and teacher’s needs. Nevertheless, at teacher training level, an investment is needed in order to achieve the objectives towards policies that aim at ICT integration.

The study is part of a doctoral research on a model of teacher training to address approach the teaching process by educational technology, which aims to establish the percentage of teachers in the municipality of San Juan Giron (Colombia) with technology skills information and communication and how many of them apply them in the classroom. A questionnaire and an interview with principals, coordinators, teachers and students who are part of the public education system was applied. Data on correlation nonparametric tests, frequency tables and histograms and two-dimensional descriptive statistics in order to quantify the degree of association between variables analyzes were performed. The results relate to the percentages of skills in information and communication technologies which has the population studied, showing low rates of application of the same in the education sector and in the classroom. Among the most notable contributions it was found that the educational community is aware of the existence of technological tools but is not trained in the management of computing resources or the development of educational resources to support teaching because of the lack of effective plans educational and training models of teacher training, which has not allowed the pedagogical use of ICT in educational institutions. It is necessary to develop and implement a model of teacher training in ICT to respond to the educational reality of the schools in San Juan Giron.

The development of new technologies and the information society has accelerated changes in everyday life and modern teaching. Information and communication technologies (ICT) better motivate students to learn. In order to better preserve historical sources, they are digitized and thus protected, hence researchers can access the source faster and at a less cost. The possibilities of using the Internet in teaching are vast. It is necessary for schools to have computers, as well as for teachers and students to be motivated to use new electronic sources. Many websites have original historical material, from written and printed sources to audio-visual ones. We can call all this material digital resources (materials, sources, electronic historical sources). Teachers need to create engaging and imaginative teaching materials. However, a critical approach and caution in working with materials from the internet is essential. It is the teacher's responsibility to recommend verified sites and documents. Much of the material on the Internet has been posted with the conscious intention of spreading inaccurate data. The possibilities of ICT are great in history studies, as well. It is possible to modernize teaching at all levels of studies, but the financial capabilities of schools do not allow the possibility of keeping up with those innovations. One of the web portals that can be used for teaching purposes with its digitized content is Europeana. It is a database of the cultural and historical heritage of Europe, through which it is possible to search the digitized material of institutions. The Europeana portal is a broad project that provides free access to tens of millions of digital units. One of the most important collections within this portal is dedicated to the First World War and is called Europeana 1914-1918.
