The dynamic loading and strength of the frame of the “East-West” type covered wagon were determined. To increase the efficiency of operation of covered wagons in international traffic, it is proposed to improve their frames. This improvement consists in using a sectional partition in the body in order to divide it into two separate sections. This allows the transportation of different goods in one wagon, and therefore decreasing empty mileage. The longitudinal loading of the covered wagon frame was determined. The case of shunting impact was considered. The studies were carried out in a flat coordinate system. The loading mode of the frame of the covered wagon in the empty and loaded states was considered. The acceleration acting on the covered wagon frame in the loaded state was 0.37g, empty – 0.42g, which does not exceed the standard values. The wagon motion is rated “excellent”. The main strength indicators of the covered wagon frame were determined. The calculation was made by the finite element method. It was found that the maximum equivalent stresses are concentrated in the area of interaction of the center sill with the bolster beam and amounted to 340 MPa, which is lower than the yield stress of the material. Maximum displacements occur in the middle of the frame beams and are about 12 mm. The natural vibration frequencies of the covered wagon frame were calculated. The research will help to increase the efficiency of using covered wagons in international traffic. Also, the research results can be useful developments in the creation of innovative rolling stock structures

Finding ways to optimize the body structure is an important point in the design of new electric train cars. Reducing the mass of the body leads to a lightening of the parts of the rolling stock associated with it, a reduction in energy consumption for operation and a decrease in wear in the “wheel — rail”system. Reducing the weight of the body is possible by assigning optimal rigidity to its main load-bearing elements. Increasing the rigidity of the body with a constant mass is also an important task to obtain the standard dynamic properties of the car body. The article presents method for optimizing the body structure based on calculating the value of its first frequency of natural bending vibrations. The calculation was carried out by the finite element method using a simplified beam-shell parametric model. Within the optimization calculations, 3125 working versions of sections of the main load-bearing structural elements with different rigidity were considered — bracing and cross-beams of the frame, inter-window racks and cross-beams of the roof. The sensitivity of the value of the natural vibration frequency to the change in the rigidity of the main bearing elements without taking into account the change in mass is analyzed. It was found that the rigidity of the frame bracing and cross beams has the greatest influence on the frequency value. It is shown that the ratio of the rigidity of the main bearing elements does not remain constant for optimal design options and depends on the design of the body, the target values of its mass and rigidity. When mass is limited, it is possible to choose designs that are characterized by the greatest overall body rigidity and are the most optimal in terms of manufacturability. By limiting the values of natural vibration frequency, it is possible to choose a body structure with the lowest metal mass. The presented approach allows making decisions on body modification based on the required parameters of mass and (or) the frequency of natural bending vibrations. This approach can be used in pre-design studies of the bodies of new passenger rolling stock.

The development of the international trade and the entrance of domestic car manufacturers into international markets required bench equipment development for tests in accordance with the requirements of the European standards. In this connection the purpose of this work is to develop an experimental and methodical basis for the estimation of the strength correspondence of export railway produce to the European standard basis. In the work there is shown a description of the bench developed for static tests of rolling stock for loads corresponding to the European standard basis. In the requirements mentioned there is used a more extended list of loads and combination of efforts and the necessity in the application of longitudinal loads to the elements of the end wall in three levels should be particularly emphasized. On the test bench there are carried out static tests of the car of model 61-4514 for Egyptian national railways and the body of the motor-rail car of model 2853 for the railway infrastructure of Serbia.

Recent archaeological research in the upper Amazon region, on the frontier between Ecuador and Peru, has discovered a new pre-Columbian culture, now known as the Mayo Chinchipe-Marañón society. The most important site that has been studied until now is Santa Ana–La Florida (SALF), located in Palanda (Zamora Chinchipe province, Ecuador), where an Early Formative period ceremonial center has been studied for over a decade. This site has been occupied for over 5000 years. The ceremonial center has an architectural layout centered around a sunken plaza, with two platforms placed at each end on an east-west axis. The eastern platform served as the base of a round structure that contained evidence of ritual activities. Several tombs have been located in the body of the platform. One, however, stands out for its extraordinary paraphernalia, which suggests the presence of a very relevant individual: a shaman.

This paper investigates the dispersion behavior of elastic wave propagation in hierarchical honeycombs using the finite element method in conjunction with the Bloch's theorem. The hierarchical honeycomb is constructed by replacing each vertex of a regular hexagonal honeycomb with smaller hexagons stacked in a woodpile pattern. Band structure analysis reveals that, in the considered range of frequency, the maximum band gap for the hierarchical honeycomb is localized in the frequency corresponding to the natural vibration frequency of the cell strut, and moreover, the width of this particular gap is significantly broadened as the order of hierarchy increases. In addition, for the hierarchical honeycombs satisfying an invariable ratio between the thickness and squared length of the cell strut, which is extracted from the expression of the natural frequency of the simply supported element beam, a coincidence among dispersion curves (or contours) for the hierarchical configurations with the same scale order occurs. The resulting identical band gaps as well as the quasi-static phase wave velocities provide an advantage or the hierarchical honeycombs in the manipulation of vibration and associated multifunction designs.

The objective of the paper is to investigate the direction of a further crack propagation from the interface between two elastic materials. The angle of crack propagation changes when the crack passes the interface. The suggested procedure makes it possible to estimate an angle of propagation under which the crack will propagate into the second material. The assumptions of linear elastic fracture mechanics and elastic behavior of the body with interfaces are considered. The finite element method was used for numerical calculations. The results obtained might contribute to a better understanding of the failure of materials with interfaces (e.g. layered composites, materials with protective coatings) and to a more reliable estimation of the service life of such structures.

In 2004, Singaporean presenter Tang Fu Kuen commissioned French avant-garde choreographer Jérôme Bel to create a work in collaboration with classical Thai dancer-choreographer Pichet Klunchun. The resulting piece is unlike most intercultural collaborations. In the world of concert dance, East–West interculturalism takes place in a variety of ways: in costuming or set design, in theme or subject matter, in choreographic structure, in stylings of the body, in energetic impetus, in spatial composition, in philosophical attitude toward art making. Bel's work, titled Pichet Klunchun and Myself, does not combine aesthetics in any of these ways. In fact, the piece may more accurately be described not as a dance but as two verbal interviews (first by Bel of Klunchun and then vice versa) performed for an audience and separated by an intermission. There is no actual intermingling of forms—Thai classical dance with European contemporary choreography—in this performance. The intercultural “choreography” here comprises a staged conversation between the artists and some isolated physical demonstrations by each.

The countries of the European Union have a huge territory and a large number of objects of transport infrastructure and rolling stock. In these countries, various methods, complex systems and technologies are offered for the organization and management of the cargo transportation process and passengers with traffic safety. The acceptance and admission of rolling stock to operation is carried out in accordance with the requirements set out in document EN 14363. This document defines the main indicators of railway traffic safety, methods, means and conditions for conducting tests of rolling stock on the definition of its qualitative driving characteristics. In the author’s article, the following safety indicators were studied on the EU railways: the coefficient of stability from rolling the wheel flange of the wheel pair onto the rail head, the value of the turning of the trolley relative to the body of the rolling stock (index X), the indicator of the lateral action of the rolling stock on the rails. The stability of the rolling of the wheel of the wheel pair onto the rail head on the EU railways is investigated on the basis of the Nadal’s criterion. The value of the resistance of the trolley rotation relative to the body of the rolling stock is decisive for proving the safety condition against the derailment wheel pairs on the EU railways. With the help of the indicator of the lateral action of the rolling stock on the rails limited the size of the lateral forces to minimize the risk of shifts of rail-sleeper lattice. The article describes how a rolling stock test on EU railways is being conducted to determine the traffic safety indicators. The author notes that in order to determine the possibility of derailment of rolling stock under the norm EN 14363, it is necessary to have the value of the guiding force. However, determining the direction of the force is a complicated and time-consuming process, since it requires a large number of experimental studies. Key words: railways, rolling stock, indicators of sustainability, European Union.

One of the most significant factors in regulating the parameters of redox reactions occurring in any liquid medium is the electron activity or redox potential (RP) of this medium. Water that has a negative RP is easily absorbed by the body and replenishes the cells with lost negative charges and energy. As a result of the conducted studies, it was found that the hydrochemical parameters in the experimental and control variants were within the standard values for growing tilapia juveniles. It was found that the redox potential of the blood of juvenile tilapia has a negative value of - 96 mV. It is recorded that at a sufficiently low water temperature for thermophilic tilapia (21 °C) and at a negative RP (-212 mV), a high growth rate of fish is observed. It was found that the use of water with a redox potential of -100 mV is the most effective, since the linear weight gain of juveniles increases by 41 % in comparison with the control. Tilapia juveniles grown in structured water have the highest levels of hemoglobin (62-64 g/l) and total serum protein (13.3-14.3 g/l).

The need for the reconstruction of existing auto service enterprises is caused by changes in the structure of the rolling stock, the design of cars and the conditions of their operation, increasing the requirements for the quality of rolling stock, the design of cars and their operating conditions, increasing the quality requirements for maintenance and repair, saving fuel and energy resources and quality assurance of the environment. In our case, the need to reconstruct the autoservice company LLC "Avtomir" is associated with the need to switch to maintenance and storage of new types of rolling stock, as well as changes in the dynamics of demand for cars. In LLC Avtomir there is no possibility of rendering services related to damage to the body of the car, which reduces the ability of the organization to receive additional income, as this type of damage owners of vehicles have to eliminate at other service stations. This fact puts the company in front of the need to create a paint and body shop in the future. The purpose of this work was the development of measures to reconstruct the infrasructure of LLC "Avtomir". The main results of the technological calculation of the enterprise are as follows: - the annual workload of the technical service station is 43529 man-hour; - annual scope of works of washing, maintenance, lubrication, adjusting for setting the angles of the front wheels, adjusting brakes, maintenance and repair of the power system, electrical, tire fitting 4913; 15235.2; 2176.5; 2611.7; 3917.6; 4353; 4353; 2285 and 914 man-hour respectively; - the annual volume of works at the tire fitting site, on the maintenance and repair site of the power supply system, electrical, maintenance units is 2133; 762; 4788.2 man-hour respectively; - necessary number of production workers for maintenance and technical maintenance 29 (technological) and 35 (staff), as well as the number of auxiliary 4 and engineering - technical 5 workers; - the necessary number of posts for washing, maintenance, lubricants, technical maintenance, adjusting for setting the angles of the front wheels, adjusting for the brakes, maintenance and repair of the power system, electrical 4; 1; 1; 1; 1; 1 and 1 respectively. Analysis of production and economic activities of the enterprise allowed us to identify the objectives of the enterprise, the dynamics of its development, the state of the production and technical base. This makes it possible to identify the main shortcomings in the functioning of the organization and to implement the formulation of new tasks that need to be solved in the future. Namely, LLC "Avtomir" needs to increase production capacity, namely the addition of a diagnostic post and one more car acceptance post. In addition, there is a need to implement the washing zone, and on the vacated area to arrange a painting and drying chamber and a preparation site for painting works.
