Abstract The article is a review of completed research on developed and implemented innovative and technologically advanced technical systems. According to the Industry 4.0 concept they can have a significant impact on the efficiency of production processes and product development. In this perspective, the key aspect seems to be maintenance management of technical systems, realized both in the operate phase as well as during service and repair works. There were discussed research results of authors and developed application solutions supporting decision-making processes, in terms of three main periods of realization of exploitation processes: short, medium and long-term.

The term Errors of Commission (EOC) describes a safety problem of complex technical systems where humans intervene into the system functions in an inappropriate way. Most serious events in any technical area are caused by EOCs. Humans shut down a high pressure injection that is needed in the current situation (TMI Nuclear Power Plant), humans decide to continue a test that brings the plant into serious conditions (Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant), Maintenance Management does not exchange a wheel that is far below the safety margins (Eschede Railway Accident in Germany). Similar examples can be mentioned in other technical systems like Aircraft or Medicine for instance. This paper firstly gives an overview about the problem and the work in that field. It then focuses on some approaches for solution concerning the modeling of cognitive human behaviour.

Abstract This paper presents an application of the FMEA (Failure mode and effects analysis) to evaluate the operational risk in railway transport. The methodology developed by the Department of Rail Transport (KTS), including approval thresholds for risk adopted, the model forms (hazard record, FMEA form) were adopted in the Polish railways as a standard to evaluate the operational risk for operators and infrastructure managers. Reacting to the development of requirements for security management - Regulation EC No 445 of 2011 - Department of Rail Transport proposed the standard RAMS - PN - EN 50126 to oversee rail vehicles. This solution is currently being implemented in several entities building maintenance management systems (MMS) for the wagons. This article is dedicated to the people who deal with issues of safety management both in the transport of goods and people as well as the maintenance of rail vehicles.

Abstract The article discusses issues related to the management of the city's network infrastructure in the context of the Smart City idea. There was presented an overview of the possibilities and needs of supporting the maintenance management of network technical systems, as components of technical urban infrastructure. Issues related to the meaning of numerical models of various types of networks in comprehensive city management were discussed. Against this background, gaps and challenges in the implementation of modern technologies have been shown on the example of an important category of network technical systems such as water supply system

The maintenance is one of the most important territories of practical vehicle engineering. For optimal management maintenance decisions one of the most important matter to know momentary technical state of given system. In this paper literature of aging of technical systems is studied briefly. We found 2 major topics. They are maintenance management and mathematical modelling. These and their connections with other matter was widely studied in the field of aging. In this review we comparatively discuses all the methods and their theories. It will be very helpful for other readers to choose any methods to carry out better results.
