ABSTRACT Objective The objective of the study was the development of a low cost simulator of the endoscopic lumbar spine flavectomy technique for use as a teaching method in order to make endoscopic training more accessible. Methods The study was a descriptive research project conducted at the Orthopedic Skills Laboratory of the Health Sciences Department of the Federal University of Paraná. Easily accessible, low cost materials, such as a commercial-use mannequin, EVA plastic, PVC and copper tubing were used to develop the simulator.. Results At the end of the project, it was possible to build a simulator of the endoscopic lumbar spine flavectomy technique with a budget of approximately 464 BRL, or approximately 140 USD. Conclusions We concluded that it was possible to build an endoscopic lumbar spine flavectomy technique simulator on a budget of less than half a Brazilian minimum monthly wage, which makes training more accessible to academics, residents and surgeons. Introduction: Scar treatments aim to address pathologic collagen deposition; however, they can be expensive or difficult to control. Electrochemical therapy (ECT) offers a simple alternative treatment. The purpose of this study is to examine the acid-base and histological changes in ex vivo human abdominal skin following ECT. Methods: Forty-two ex vivo human panniculus tissue sections collected from six individuals were tumesced with normal saline. ECT was performed by inserting two platinum needle electrodes connected to a DC power supply into each specimen. Voltage was varied (3–6 V) and applied for 5 minutes. Each specimen was sectioned across both electrode insertion sites and immediately stained with pH sensitive dye. The width of dye color change for each dosimetry pair was calculated. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was used to evaluate samples. Results and Discussion: ECT caused a spatially localised and dose-dependent increased area of acidic and basic pH around the anode and cathode, respectively. A significantly greater mean width of pH change was generated at the cathode compared to the anode in all treatment groups. Histological evaluation displayed broad condensation and hyalinisation of dermal collagen. Conclusion: ECT triggered dermal pH alterations and changed the underlying structural framework of the specimen. This technology may serve as a low-cost, minimally invasive local soft-tissue remodeling technique with potential application in scar management. Level of Evidence: 5 Lay Summary Electrochemical therapy is a novel treatment that causes spatially selective dermal injury in areas of interest. This study measures the effects of electrochemical therapy when applied to abdominal skin. Electrochemical therapy appears to have beneficial effects by causing a highly localised reduction in collagen content or local softening of tissue, which is consistent with other studies on scar therapies, including chemexfoliation, radiofrequency technologies, and lasers. However, electrochemical therapy can be performed at a fraction of the costs of these aforementioned modalities.

Context: Most available data on athletic development training models focus on adult or professional athletes, where increasing workload capacity and performance is a primary goal. Development pathways in youth athletes generally emphasize multisport participation rather than sport specialization to optimize motor skill acquisition and to minimize injury risk. Other models emphasize the need for accumulation of sport- and skill-specific hours to develop elite-level status. Despite recommendations against sport specialization, many youth athletes still specialize and need guidance on training and competition. Medical and sport professionals also recommend progressive, gradual increases in workloads to enhance resilience to the demands of high-level competition. There is no accepted model of risk stratification and return to play for training a specialized youth athlete through periods of injury and maturation. In this review, we present individualized training models for specialized youth athletes that (1) prioritize performance for healthy, resilient youth athletes and (2) are adaptable through vulnerable maturational periods and injury. Evidence Acquisition: Nonsystematic review with critical appraisal of existing literature. Study Design: Clinical review. Level of Evidence: Level 4. Results: A number of factors must be considered when developing training programs for young athletes: (1) the effect of sport specialization on athlete development and injury, (2) biological maturation, (3) motor and coordination deficits in specialized youth athletes, and (4) workload progressions and response to load. Conclusion: Load-sensitive athletes with multiple risk factors may need medical evaluation, frequent monitoring, and a program designed to restore local tissue and sport-specific capacity. Load-naive athletes, who are often skeletally immature, will likely benefit from serial monitoring and should train and compete with caution, while load-tolerant athletes may only need occasional monitoring and progress to optimum loads. Abstract Introduction: Problems related to the clinical abilities of physiotherapy students are not always identified throughout the educational process and might only be observed when these future professionals have to treat patients. The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) includes a problematization approach and can be used in Health Sciences teaching to help this identification before internship practices. However, there are few studies on its use in Physiotherapy. Objective: To gather evidence of the OSCE use to evaluate clinical abilities in Physiotherapy teaching. Method: Articles published from 2000 to 2016 were surveyed in the Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) (Virtual Health Library), Centro Latino-Americano e do Caribe de Informação em Ciências da Saúde (BIREME) (Latin-American and Caribbean Health Sciences Information Center), PubMed, Scielo and Web of Science, using the descriptors “educational assessment”, “assessment methods”, “objective structured clinical examination”, “clinical competence”, “professional competence”, “clinical skills”, “student competence”, “student skills”, “physiotherapy” and the Booleans “OR” and “AND”. Results: The initial number of identified publications was 3,242. From these, seven were included in this review. Two studies were developed in Brazil, four in Australia and one in Canada. The studies were scored 7 to 12 regarding methodologic quality, and 1B and 2B regarding scientific evidence. Conclusion: Students’ clinical abilities were grouped into three classes: cognitive, psychomotor and affective, and four studies described their use. There is very little evidence of the use of OSCE, but the instrument can be applied to evaluate skills and competences in Physiotherapy teaching.

The study target the degree of knowledge of individuals about Jan Aushadhi Medical Store, the people’s awareness of Jan Aushadhi Medical schemes, to understand the willingness of individuals to shop for generic medicines, to review the understanding and people’s perception on generic medicines, to study the satisfaction level of consumers towards quality, price, availability, accessibility, acceptability, affordability of those medicines and to understand about how the govt. Initiative measures reach among the people. For the study’s aim, the researcher has selected 50 respondents who are aware of the PMBJPK. Descriptive research methodology is employed to conduct the study. It includes survey and fact-finding inquiries of various kinds. It focused on the issues of the advantages availed from PMBJPK. All levels of shoppers were surveyed by using a questionnaire and also, the level of satisfaction or dissatisfaction from PMBJPK was studied. Finally, the detailed information about the advantages they had received was also considered... Finally, it attempts to supply suggestions to the purchasers to teach way more about PMBJPK.

Objective: to understand the influence of music as a therapeutic assistant in reducing work stress of nursing professionals in a basic health unit. Method: it is an exploratory and descriptive research with a quantitative approach, developed with 9 nursing professionals from UBS Integrated Nova Esperança in João Pessoa, Paraíba. Data collection began after approval of the Research Ethics Committee of the Health Sciences Center of the Federal University of Paraíba, nº. 0508/16, CAAE: 58741916.6.0000.5188. Results: we identified that 33.3% of nursing professionals presented signs of stress, of the 33.3% who presented stress, 100% demonstrated to be in the resistance phase, 100% of the nursing professionals evaluated the musical strategy in a positive way. Conclusion: the musical strategy received extremely positive evaluations by the participants of the research, about 100% of professionals said that listening to music can reduce work stress.

Lumbar discectomy is a common procedure for acute disc prolapse, especially in patients with neurological deficit [1]. The literature describes using fluoroscopy intraoperatively to avoid wrong level and side [2]. However, there is no method to confirm/document adequate discectomy apart from a postoperative MRI. The authors' technique involves taking clinical photos of the removed disc material. This technique provides accurate, low-cost documentation, and the patient can review it post-operatively. This could be of significant value in large disc prolapse and cauda equina syndrome surgery.

O presente estudo apontou os desdobramentos da utilização do Role-Playing Game (RPG) explorando temas relacionados ao Folclore na educação infantil. Assim sendo, o texto que segue é resultado do desenvolvimento de todas as etapas que foram criadas para a aplicação do projeto de pesquisa. As etapas aqui apresentadas são uma síntese dos tópicos mais importantes que foram utilizados para o desenrolar da atividade central do projeto, a saber, a criação e a aplicação do jogo de RPG sobre o folclore brasileiro para crianças do Ensino Fundamental I, de um núcleo educacional da cidade de Porto União-SC. Dessa forma, o texto aqui apresentado se divide nas seguintes etapas: 1 – o brincar e o aprender e sua conexão com o RPG; 2 – a relação brincar/aprender com a nova BNCC; 3 - o brincar e sua relação com o desenvolvimento infantil; 4 – A aplicação do RPG para o ensino do folclore; 5 – a metodologia da pesquisa; 6 – uma breve explanação sobre o produto educacional; 7 – resultados e discussão e 8 – considerações finais. Vale destacar que como metodologia optou-se pela pesquisa descritiva vinculada a abordagem qualitativa. Esta forma de pesquisa teve como foco principal a intenção de aproximar o conhecimento da vida dos estudantes da faixa etária pré-escolar com os saberes populares ligados ao folclore. Os resultados alcançados correspondem com a finalidade primordial pensada para o projeto, a saber, a capacidade de ensinar um conteúdo diferente com um método de ensino igualmente diferente. Não há dados estatísticos para mensurar o nível de aprendizagem, pois a verdadeira intenção do projeto foi a de ensinar brincando. Palavras-chave: Educação Infantil. Role-Playing Game (RPG). ABSTRACT: The present study pointed out the consequences of using the Role-Playing Game (RPG) exploring themes related to Folklore in early childhood education.  Therefore, the text that follows is the result of the development of all the steps that were created for the application of the research project.  The steps presented here are a synthesis of the most important topics that were used to carry out the central activity of the project, namely, the creation and application of the RPG game about Brazilian folklore for elementary school children, from an educational center in the city of Porto União-SC.  Thus, the text presented here is divided into the following stages: 1 - playing and learning and its connection with the RPG; 2 - the play / learn relationship with the new BNCC; 3 - playing and its relationship with child development; 4 - The application of RPG for teaching folklore; 5 - the research methodology; 6 - a brief explanation of the educational product; 7 - results and discussion and 8 - final considerations. It is worth mentioning that as a methodology, we opted for descriptive research linked to a qualitative approach. This form of research had as main focus the intention of bringing the knowledge of the life of the students of the preschool age group with the popular knowledge linked to folklore.  The results achieved correspond to the primary purpose thought for the project, namely, the ability to teach different content with an equally different teaching method. There is no statistical data to measure the level of learning, as the real intention of the project was to teach while playing. Keywords: Early Childhood Education. Role-Playing Game (RPG). Folklore. Cultivating students who have innovated abilities is not only an age requirement but also the focus of engineering education. In engineering education, according to the studies and practices for a very long time, this article establish "three-dimension" innovation talents development model which can improve students’ abilities of self-study and help them fit the society better after their graduation. The seven aspects are teaching method, learning approach, teaching material constructs, auxiliary answering strategy, teaching evaluation, students develop environment and innovation channels. “Three-dimensional” innovation talents development model is designed according to students’ character and their best innovation study result .And it can actually form a three-dimensional layered training model includes “General-form Teaching”, “Extensions Expand” and “Elites Cultivating”. The effect of the practice of "three-dimensional" innovation talents development model is very obvious.

This study examines the difficulties faced by Arab students in the tertiary level in creating a well-written paragraph in English academic writing. The participants were approximately 40 students from RAK Medical and Health Sciences University located in Ras Al Khaimah in The United Arab Emirates. The study’s significance is to propose potential methods and solutions for academic English instructors to improve the students’ performance by designing a writing course based on the pre-and post-tests that were used to monitor students’ progress in writing before and after the course of Academic writing. Pre-tests were conducted to analyze the needs of the students. The analyses revealed that the participants had trouble using the writing fundamentals like grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. After implementing the course topics, the results of the post-tests showed changes in the students’ academic writing performance. The study concludes that to obtain the best results from the courses of English Academic writing, the course should be based on the difficulties faced by the students. It also shows that before applying any academic writing course, the instructor has to carry out an error or needs analyses to identify the weak points of the group, then the course can be designed accordingly.
