Abstract This paper updates, extensively revises, and expands the analysis of a previous study on forestry equipment costs. Prices of selected pieces of forest management and harvesting equipment were obtained for the period 1968 to 1982 and various indices were computed. Computed indices are compared to several producer price indices to estimate the correlation between forestry equipment costs and regularly published indices. Management equipment prices were rising faster than general inflation and harvesting equipment prices. Harvesting equipment has shown a slight decline in real cost.
