Occupational Health and Safety Management and Employees’ Performance in Ardova Plc

Abstract The vital purpose of this research work is to examine the impacts of occupational health and safety management on employee's performance. It aims to investigate the nexus between the practice of OHS, safe working environment and performance of employees. The research work adopt a descriptive approach to scrutinize the contributions of provision of adequate health and safety equipment to performance of employees at Ardova Plc. Aside collecting primary data from the staffs of Ardova Plc in Lagos State cutting across diverse socio-economic class, simple random sampling was utilised in the study using 90 questionnaires to collect the primary data. However, descriptive data was therefore analyzed using Statistical Tool to show the Cross-tabulation, correlation and Chi-Square Test. The research study concludes that practice of occupational health and safety management can boost employee performance, and further suggest some policy recommendations.

Objective - This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of Occupational Health and Safety, and the Working Environment on Employee Performance with Job Satisfaction as a mediating variable in PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) with sample on DAOP I Jakarta. Methodology/Technique - The study population numbered 292 employees and 75 respondents be adopted as a sample of the study. Techniques of analysis using a statistical test structural equation model-based variance (SmartPLS). Findings – The results showed that, (1) Occupational Health and Safety had no effect on Job Satisfaction and Employee Performance, (2) the Work Environment had a positive and significant effect on Job Satisfaction and Employee Performance (3) Job Satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on Employee Performance, (4) Occupational Health and Safety has no effect on Employee Performance even though through Job Satisfaction mediation, (5) the Work Environment has a positive and significant effect on Employee Performance through mediation of Job Satisfaction, (6) Occupational Health and Safety, and the Work Environment simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on Job Satisfaction with the coefficient of determination, which is equal to 0,533, (7) Occupational Health and Safety, Work Environment, and Job Satisfaction simultaneously have a positive effect and significant to Employee Performance with coefficient of determination, which is equal to 0,890. Novelty - The company is expected to provide adequate rest periods, maintain the nutritional intake of its employees by providing healthy food, provide educational scholarships for further levels for employees, safeguard the work environment from chemical hazards and other hazards, and give positive motivation to the employees. Occupational health and safety are one of the important things that must be considered by the company to create safe and healthy working environment, especially for organizations that have the potential hazard and a high level of accident risk that could have an impact on performance. PT Indonesia Power Unit Kamojang is a company engaged in Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) and has implemented a safety and health. This research aims to determine the effect of occupational health and safety on employee performance at PT Indonesia Power Unit Kamojang. The method which is used in this research is a descriptive method with quantitative approach. Data analysis method which is used in this research are descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The sample in this research as much as 149 respondents. Occupational health and safety currently on good category, it can be seen from working conditions, safety training and communication, the creation of healthy working environment, employee needs services and health care services. Then, employee performance also currently on good category, it can be seen from the result of work, work behavior, and personal qualities. The conclusion of this research is there’s an effect of occupational health and safety implementation on employee performance amounted to 23,7%.

Dalam pasal 87 (1) UU No. 13 Tahun 2003 tentang Ketenagakerjaan disebutkan; Setiap perusahaan wajib menerapkan Sistem Manajemen Kesehatan dan Keselamatan Kerja (SMK3) yang terintegrasi dengan sistem manajemen perusahaan. Menurut OHSAS 18001:2007 SMK3 adalah bagian dari sistem manajemen organisasi yang digunakan untuk mengembangkan dan menerapkan kebijakan K3 dan risiko risiko K3. Dengan diterapkannya OHSAS 18001:2007 diharapkan dapat mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan, produktivitas dan citra perusahaan. Tujuan umum dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui implementasi sistem OHSAS 18001:2007 di PT. Asrindo Citraseni Satria Duri-Riau 2020. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif dengan metode kualitatif dan subjek penelitian ini adalah Direktur Operasi, Manajer HES Corp., Manajer Operasi Rigless, dan Pekerja. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan SMK3 berdasarkan OHSAS 18001:2007 Pada PT Asrindo Citraseni Satria dilaksanakan sesuai dengan standar internasional yaitu OHSAS 18001:2007 yang menyatakan bahwa perusahaan telah membangun komitmen dan kebijakan K3, telah melaksanakan perencanaan K3 berdasarkan identifikasi potensi bahaya dan penyediaan fasilitas K3 serta implementasi rencana K3 dengan baik. Untuk itu perlu ditingkatkan rutin konsultasi dengan HES dan Operation manager untuk meningkatkan semangat karyawan serta mengevaluasi pelaksanaan dan melakukan sosialisasi dan pendekatan untuk meningkatkan motivasi K3 serta mencari masukan. In article 87 (1) of Law no. 13 of 2003 concerning manpower stated; Every company is required to implement an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) which is integrated with the company management system. According to OHSAS 18001: 2007 SMK3 is part of an organizational management system that is used to develop and implement OHS policies and OHS risk risks. With the implementation of OHSAS 18001: 2007, it is hoped that it can affect employee performance, productivity and company image. The general objective of this study was to determine the implementation of the OHSAS 18001: 2007 system at PT. Asrindo Citraseni Satria Duri-Riau 2020. This research is descriptive with qualitative methods and the subject of this research is Operation Director, HES Corp. Manager, Rigless Operation Manager, and Worker. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of OHSMS based on OHSAS 18001: 2007 At PT Asrindo Citraseni Satria it is implemented in accordance with international standards, namely OHSAS 18001: 2007, which states that the company has built K3 commitments and policies, has carried out OHS planning based on identification of potential hazards and provision of OHS facilities as well as implementation of the OHS plan properly. For this reason, it is necessary to increase the routine of consultations with HES and Operation managers to increase employee enthusiasm as well as evaluate implementation and conduct socialization and approaches to increase OHS motivation as well as seek input.

Berdasarkan hasil dari data kinerja karyawan PT. Arteria Daya Mulia (ARIDA) Cirebon pada bulan Juni tahun 2015 menunjukkan output kerja atau pencapaian kerja masih kurang dari target yang diharapkan maka hasil produksi perhari belum menunjukkan kinerja yang baik yang dimungkinkan dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal organisasi, yaitu program kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja dimana pelaksanaan program kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja yang masih kurang baik sehingga kinerja karyawannya pun kurang baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan pelaksanaan program kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja dengan kinerja karyawan bagian tambang di PT. Arteria Daya Mulia (ARIDA) Cirebon Tahun 2015. Rancangan dalam penelitian ini adalah Cross Sectional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh karyawan bagian tambang di PT. Arteria Daya Mulia (ARIDA) Cirebon Tahun 2015 sebanyak 112 karyawan. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 52 karyawan yang diambil secara Simple Random Sampling. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan cara angket. Data dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan Uji Chi-Square pada taraf kepercayaan 5% (0,05). Hasil uji statistik dengan menggunakan uji Chi-Square diperoleh nilai P value = 0,020 pada taraf kepercayaan 5% karena nilai P value = 0,020 lebih kecil dari 0,05 (0,020 ≤ 0,05). Sehingga Ha diterima yang menyatakan ada hubungan antara pelaksanaan program kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja dengan kinerja karyawan bagian tambang PT. Arteria Daya Mulia (ARIDA) Cirebon Tahun 2015.Kata Kunci          : Kesehatan Keselamatan Kerja, Kinerja Karyawan   ABSTRACTBased on the results of the performance data of employees of PT. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of the program with the occupational health and safety performance in the mining section of employees of PT. Arteria Daya Mulia (ARIDA) Cirebon 2015. The design of this study was cross sectional. The study population is all employees of the mine in PT. Arteria Daya Mulia (ARIDA) Cirebon in 2015 as many as 112 employees. The total sample of 52 employees who were taken by simple random sampling. Methods of data collection using the questionnaire method. Date were statistically analyzed using Chi-Square test at the level of 5% (0.05). Results of statistical test by using Chi-Square test values obtained P value = 0.020 confidence level of 5% since the value P value = 0.020 less than 0.05 (0.05 ≤ 0.020). So Ha is received stating there is a relationship between the implementation of occupational health and safety program with employee performance of the mining PT.
