Abstract BackgroundThe quality antenatal care (ANC) services can reduce the risk of the pregnancy complications, and hence reduce the maternal and child morbidity and mortality. To ensure the quality ANC services to the pregnant women, it is essential that healthcare providers should be fully prepared with six tracer indicators recommended by World Health Organization. In this study, the prevalence of readiness by selected covariates has been examined. Potential factors responsible for the readiness have also been identified.MethodsUsing data from nationally representative Bangladesh Health Facility Survey (BHFS), 2017, the readiness indices of health facilities providing ANC services have been measured based on the six tracer indicators of the service. The chi-square test has been applied to check the association of selected covariates with the readiness index, and to obtain the adjusted associations of covariates, we have carried out a multinomial logistic regression model. ResultsOnly 4.26% of the facilities is found to provide quality ANC services to the pregnant women. Rural facilities have lower readiness to provide quality services compared to urban facilities [RRR: 0.13, 95% CI: 0.06-0.31; p<0.001]. Community clinics and private hospitals are less likely to have medium or high readiness compared to public hospitals or clinics. The health facilities having specialist or MBBS doctors are more likely to be considered as ready for quality ANC services compared to others facilities. Regional difference exists in readiness for providing the service.ConclusionA huge gap has been found in the facilities of Bangladesh to prove quality ANC services. This is a high time to reduce this gap in achieving sustainable development goals related with maternity and neonatal mortality. The present study recommends that the government of Bangladesh should take necessary initiatives to fully prepared healthcare providers so that quality ANC services can be equally provided to each pregnant woman.

Abstract Background Although the World Health Organization and health authorities in most countries recommend that pregnant women receive inactivated influenza virus vaccines, coverage remains low. This study aimed to investigate (1) the proportion of pregnant women who received an influenza vaccination and influencing factors and (2) the proportion of obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) doctors who routinely recommend influenza vaccination to pregnant women and influencing factors. Methods Two separate, anonymized questionnaires were developed for physicians and pregnant and postpartum women and were distributed to multicenters and clinics in South Korea. The proportions of women who received influenza vaccination during pregnancy and OBGYN doctors who routinely recommend the influenza vaccine to pregnant women were analyzed. Independent influencing factors for both maternal influenza vaccination and OBGYN doctors’ routine recommendations to pregnant women were analyzed using log-binomial regression analysis. Results The proportion of self-reported influenza vaccination during pregnancy among 522 women was 63.2%. Pregnancy-related independent factors influencing maternal influenza vaccination were “(ever) received information about influenza vaccination during pregnancy” (OR 8.9, 95% CI 4.17–19.01), “received vaccine information about from OBGYN doctors” (OR 11.44, 95% CI 5.46–24.00), “information obtained from other sources” (OR 4.38, 95% CI 2.01–9.55), and “second/third trimester” (OR 2.41, 95% CI 1.21–4.82).. Among 372 OBGYN doctors, 76.9% routinely recommended vaccination for pregnant women. Independent factors effecting routine recommendation were “working at a private clinic or hospital” (OR 5.33, 95% CI 2.44–11.65), “awareness of KCDC guidelines” (OR 3.11, 95% CI 1.11–8.73), and “awareness of the 2019 national free influenza vaccination program for pregnant women” (OR 4.88, 95% CI 2.34–10.17). OBGYN doctors most commonly chose ‘guidelines proposed by the government or public health (108, 46%) and academic committees (59, 25%), as a factor which expect to affect the future recommendation Conclusion This study showed that providing information about maternal influenza vaccination, especially by OBGYN doctors, is crucial for increasing vaccination coverage in pregnant women. Closer cooperation between the government and OBGYN academic societies to educate OBGYN doctors might enhance routine recommendations.

Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the globally highly prevalent herpesvirus worldwide. CMV infects populations of all ages according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). CMV infections remain the most common viral complication potentially multiple in humans and are a major cause of congenital normality in women, which is why they are critical for diagnosis in several times when it happens during pregnancy. Pregnant women with CMV infection can be in charge of abortion or congenital expandaedby. This study involves the collection a total of (90) samples taken from each aborted and pregnant woman (70 with abortion cases and 20 of pregnant without history of abortion as control subjects) referring to Babylon teaching hospital for Maternity and Children, covering a period from (October 2018 to March 2019) to investigate the occurrence of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) in Babylon city. Patients and controls were evaluated for IgG, IgM antibodies and anti-HCMV IgG, IgM for (90) subjects were controlled in this study using the Enzyme Immunoassay Test Kit and read by enzyme - linked immunosorbent analyze (ELISA). In addition the  polymerase  chain reaction (PCR)  DNA  detection  for  CMV  are  based  on  the  amplification  of  pathogen  genomes  in  a particular  region  using different primers. The Chi-square test was used to analyze the data. The results show among 90 samples, women were evaluated for CMV infection, the seroprevalence titer was significantly higher at P <0.05 in seropositive cases ranging from 62(89%) toward positive CMV IgG, while the 65 (93%) of patients were positive CMV IgM from (70) women with abortions. By contrast, the results obtained from the controls were 9 (45%) subjects seropositive for IgG and all of them were seronegative with IgM. The anti – HCMV IgG finding showed high positivity that represents the furthermost of CMV infections among females through ages ranging between 20-29 years. Furthermore, the outcomes of molecular detection showed that a small number of samples 13 (19%) were HCMV DNA detectable in aborted women less than in pregnant women 3 (15%).
