This paper examines whether and the extent to which requiring the audit engagement partner (EP) signature influences on information asymmetry, analysts’ forecast errors, and forecast dispersion. I predict and find that, ceteris paribus, there is a significant decline in information asymmetry, analysts’ forecast errors and forecast dispersion from the pre- to post-EP signature period in the UK over both of short-term (i.e., 2008-2010) and long-term (i.e., 2004-2014). These findings hold when using a control sample approach, indicating that my results are not likely due to the effect of concurrent events and correlated omitted variables. These findings suggest that implementing the EP signature requirement benefits analysts forecasts over a short- and long-term.

The aim: to consider the economic consequences of morbidity and rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system (MSS) among the able-bodied population to confirm the economic feasibility of using physical therapy and the development of its system in the country in order to reduce losses from MSS pathologies in Ukraine.

Material and methods: the data of 63 literature sources on the prevalence of MSS diseases among the working population, their economic consequences (payments for treatment, employers' losses), the role of rehabilitation, physical therapy in reducing financial costs, and the needs of the population in rehabilitation and physical therapy were analyzed.

Results. Occupational diseases of the MSS are characterized by long-term disability and a high incidence of disability. The effectiveness of rehabilitation, including economic, with injuries and diseases of the MSS was given great attention in the works of domestic and foreign authors. A significant amount of research has confirmed that the funds spent on the implementation of rehabilitation are reimbursed many times by reducing the periods of temporary and permanent loss of working capacity.

Conclusion. The economic feasibility of directing the funds for rehabilitation and physical therapy in pathologies of the MSS is reflected in the short duration of disability, the period of adaptation of patients to work, and the need for rehabilitation. Therefore, channeling funds into building a rehabilitation and physical therapy system in Ukraine is appropriate in the framework of medical reform and will have long-term positive economic consequences.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in significant clinical and economic consequences for medical practices of all specialties across the nation. Although the clinical implications are of the utmost importance, the economic consequences have also been serious and resulted in substantial damage to the US healthcare system, including pain practices. Outpatient pain practices have had to significantly change their clinical care pathways, including the incorporation of telemedicine. Elective medical and interventional care has been postponed. For the most part, ambulatory surgical centers have had to cease operations. As patient volumes have decreased for non-emergent elective care, the financial indicators have deteriorated. This review article will provide insight into solutions to mitigate the clinical and economic challenges induced by COVID-19. Undoubtedly, the COVID-19 pandemic will have short-term and long-term implications for all medical practices and facilities. In order to survive, medical practices will need dynamic, operational, and creative strategic plans to mitigate the disruption in medical care and pathways for successful reintegration of clinical and surgical practice.

Depressive disorders are common among young people and can decrease social competences and thus the quality of life. There is a relationship between the occurrence of depressive disorders and insomnia. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of insomnia and depressive behavior and assess the relationship between these among participants of the Pol’and’Rock Festival, Kostrzyn, Poland 2019. The study used the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) and the Beck Inventory II Scale (BDI-II). The study group consisted of 923 people, with the majority of women (n = 500; 54.2%). A total of 297 persons (32.2%) reported varying severity of depressive symptoms. Insomnia was observed in 261 (28.28%) respondents. Sleeping disturbances were observed more frequently in females. Persons with insomnia had a significantly higher BDI-II score. A strong positive correlation (r = 0.65) between the number of points obtained on the Beck and AIS scales was observed. Insomnia and depressive behavior are prevalent in the Polish population. Due to long-term social and economic consequences, special attention should be paid to the prevention, early detection and treatment of both disorders.

We provide evidence that citizenship catalyzes the long-term economic integration of immigrants. Despite the relevance of citizenship policy to immigrant integration, we lack a reliable understanding of the economic consequences of acquiring citizenship. To overcome nonrandom selection into naturalization, we exploit the quasi-random assignment of citizenship in Swiss municipalities that held referendums to decide the outcome of individual naturalization applications. Our data combine individual-level referendum results with detailed social security records from the Swiss authorities. This approach allows us to compare the long-term earnings of otherwise similar immigrants who barely won or lost their referendum. We find that winning Swiss citizenship in the referendum increased annual earnings by an average of approximately 5000 U.S. dollars over the subsequent 15 years. This effect is concentrated among more marginalized immigrants.
