Abstract. The cyclic mechanism is one of the basic automatic machines components. It is the cyclic mechanisms that define the performance and reliability limits of these machines. The methods for assessing the automatic machines reliability are based on data of dynamic forces acting on the mechanism's links, leading to their deformation and possible destruction under certain operating conditions. Simulation modeling of dynamic processes in cyclic mechanisms is based on its representation in the form of interconnected typical objects, the allowable properties and limits of which are known. The article presents the dynamics study results one of the basic high-speed automatic machines mechanism in the object-oriented representation. Mechanism performs translational motion and allows the possibility of one-way kinematic connection breaking.

In the present economic environment, it is critical for organizations to precisely monitor and forecast financial issues for better decision-making. This study constructed a model for the college of Engineering's financial operation of a major University in the Middle East by looking at the numbers of its revenues and expenses. Moreover, object-oriented simulation (OOS) tools is used for the financial model that support the subject matter experts in how the model can be used to help them make decisions regarding topics such as: does it make sense to introduce a new major now or in the future, should the college try to enroll more students, or even should a specific course be offered at a specific semester. The simulation model help in financial terms only.

Abstract A “black box” model is described for simulating the dynamic forces transmitted to the vehicle hub by a tire running over an obstacle at high speeds. The tire is reduced to a damped one-degree-of-freedom oscillating system. The five parameters required can be obtained from a test at a given speed. The model input is composed of a series of empirical relationships between the obstacle dimensions and the displacement of the oscillating system. These relationships can be derived from a small number of static tests or by means of static models of the tire itself. The model can constitute the first part of a broader model for description of the tire and vehicle suspension system, as well as indicating the influence of tire parameters on dynamic behavior at low and medium frequencies (0–150 Hz).

The article presents simplified queuing system model of freight marine port. The article discusses the basic elements of queuing system, its mathematical solution and structure. Simulation model was created using AnyLogic to analyze an effect of system capacity on queue length. The results were analyzed and the solution for queue optimization was proposed. The article compares the results of calculation of the finite element simulation of current and temperature distribution in the scale model of the DC catenary with the data of laboratory tests. Researches were carried on various versions of the structural design of catenary model, reflecting the topological features of the wire connection, characteristic of the DC contact network. The proportions of the cross-sectional area of the scaled model wires are comparable to each other with the corresponding values for real DC catenary. The article deals with the operating conditions of the catenary model in the modes of transit and current collection. When studying the operation of the scale catenary model in the transit mode, the effect of the structural elements on the current distribution and heating of the wires was obtained. Within the framework of the scale model, theoretical assumptions about the current overload of the supporting cable near the middle anchoring have been confirmed. In the current collection mode, the experimental dependences of the current in the transverse wires of the scale model are obtained from the coordinate of the current collection point. Using the model it was experimentally confirmed that in the section of the contact wire with local wear, not only the temperature rise occurs but also the current redistribution due to the smaller cross section. Thus, the current share in other longitudinal wires of the scale model increases and their temperature rises. Scale and mathematical models are constructed with allowance for laboratory clamps and supporting elements that participate in the removal of heat from the investigated wires. Obtained study results of the scale model allow to draw a conclusion about the adequacy of the mathematical model and its correspondence to the real physical process. These conclusions indicate the possibility of applying mathematical model for calculating real catenary, taking into account the uneven contact wear wire and the armature of the contact network.

The use of the traditional fabric simulation model evidently shows that it cannot accurately reflect the material properties of the real fabric. This is against the background that the simulation result is artificial or an imitation, which leads to a low simulation equation. In order to solve such problems from occurring, there is need for a novel model that is designed to enhance the essential properties required for a flexible fabric, the simulation effect of the fabric, and the efficiency of simulation equation solving. Therefore, the improvement study results will offer a meaningful and practical understanding within the field of garment automation design, three-dimensional animation, virtual fitting to mention but a few.

The utilization of pump as turbines (PATs) within water distribution systems for energy regulation and hydroelectricity generation purposes has increasingly attracted the energy field players’ attention. However, its power production efficiency still faces difficulties due to PAT’s lack of flow control ability in such dynamic systems. This has eventually led to the introduction of the so-called “variable operating strategy” or VOS, where the impeller rotational speed may be controlled to satisfy the system-required flow conditions. Taking from these grounds, this study numerically investigates PAT eventual flow structures formation mechanism, especially when subjected to varying impeller rotational speed. CFD-backed numerical simulations were conducted on PAT flow under four operating conditions (1.00 QBEP, 0.82 QBEP, 0.74 QBEP, and 0.55 QBEP), considering five impeller rotational speeds (110 rpm, 130 rpm, 150 rpm, 170 rpm, and 190 rpm). Study results have shown that both PAT’s flow and pressure fields deteriorate with the machine influx decrease, where the impeller rotational speed increase is found to alleviate PAT pressure pulsation levels under high-flow operating conditions, while it worsens them under part-load conditions. This study’s results add value to a thorough understanding of PAT flow dynamics, which, in a long run, contributes to the solution of the so-far existent technical issues.

Tool edge preparation can improve the tool life, as well as cutting performance and machined surface quality, meeting the requirements of high-speed and high-efficiency cutting. In general, prepared tool edges could be divided into symmetric or asymmetric edges. In the present study, the cemented carbide tools were initially edge prepared through drag finishing. The simulation model of the carbide cemented tool milling steel was established through Deform software. Effects of edge form factor, spindle speed, feed per tooth, axial, and radial cutting depth on the cutting force, the tool wear, the cutting temperature, and the surface quality were investigated through the orthogonal cutting simulation. The simulated cutting force results were compared to the results obtained from the orthogonal milling experiment through the dynamometer Kistler, which verified the simulation model correctness. The obtained results provided a basis for edge preparation effect along with high-speed and high effective cutting machining comprehension.

To adapt to the rapid growth of the logistics market and further improve the competitiveness of railway transportation, the high-speed freight train with a design speed of 350 km/h is being developed in China. The safety of the train under great axle load of 17 t and dynamic load is unknown. This paper is aimed to study the running safety of the high-speed freight train coupled with various cargo loading conditions negotiating a sharp curve at high velocity. A numerical model integrated a fluid-structure coupled container model and the nonlinear high-speed freight train was set up by the software of LS-DYNA. The fluid-structure interaction model between the container and fluid cargo was established using the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method. Two influencing parameters, including the cargo state in the container and the fill level, were selected. The study results showed that the wheelset unloading ratio and overturning coefficient could be significantly affected by the liquid sloshing, while the influence of sloshing on the risk of derailment was slight. In general, increasing the cargo filling rate would contribute to vehicle operation safety. In conclusion, this study would provide theoretical help for the running safety of the newly designed high-speed freight train.

A simulation model and the results of experimental tests of a vibration generator in applications for the hot-dip galvanizing process are presented. The parameters of the work of the asynchronous motor forcing the system vibrations were determined, as well as the degree of unbalance enabling the vibrations of galvanized elements weighing up to 500 kg to be forced. Simulation and experimental tests of the designed and then constructed vibration generator were carried out at different intensities of the unbalanced rotating mass of the motor. Based on the obtained test results, the generator operating conditions were determined at which the highest values of the amplitude of vibrations transmitted through the suspension system to the galvanized elements were obtained.

To improve the regulating characteristics of impact energy, simplify structure of hydraulic hammer, a new pulse modulation hydraulic hammer is presented in the paper which can help regulate its impact frequency easily. The motion equations of the hydraulic hammer are established, its simulation model is obtained and the dynamic simulation is carried out on AMESim. The dynamics of high-speed ON/OFF valve is taken into account in the simulation model. The tendency of simulation results conforms to experimental results; it shows that the pulse modulation hydraulic hammer is feasible, and the hydraulic hammer model is reasonable. The time delay in high working frequency is also analyzed.
