AbstractA high-quality superconducting resonator with a microbridge of hafnium film for use in a circuit for readout a terahertz-band imaging array with frequency division multiplexing is demonstrated experimentally. The variability of the impedance of the bridge at a frequency of 1.5 GHz, which is a key factor in the control of the quality of the resonator, is studied. The bridge, having a thickness of about 50 nm, a critical temperature T _ C ≈ 380 mK, and a plan size of 2.5 × 2.5 μm, was connected as a load of a resonator made of niobium film with a thickness of about 100 nm ( T _ C ~ 9 K). It is shown that the bridge smoothly changes its impedance proportionally to the bias power in the entire temperature range. The effective thermal insulation of the bridge was measured in a dilution cryostat at temperatures of 50–300 mK. Thermal conductivity G of the bridge was calculated and found to be ~4 × 10^–13 W/K, which gives an estimate of the sensitivity of the structure in the bolometric mode NEP ≈ 8 × 10^–19 W/Hz^1/2 at a temperature of 150 mK.

The use of high quality seedlings is a key factor for the success of vegetable production, and the container size and design characteristics of the containers are important determinants of seedling quality. A experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different container types on quality of cucumber seedlings (Cucumis sativus L., cv. Aodai Melhorado). Seedlings were grown in a seedling nursery with shadow protection at 50% in different containers: (i) 128-cell trays; (ii) 64-cell trays; (iii) tubes of 120 cm3; and (iv) plastic cups of 180 cm3. The plant height, diameter, root length, shoot dry matter, root dry matter, sturdiness quotient (SQ), shoot:root dry matter ratio (SRR) and Dickson quality index (DQI) were measured at 21st days after sowing. The production of cucumber seedlings in 64-cell trays, polypropylene tubes of 120 cm3 and plastic cups of 180 cm3 resulted in the highest values for the majority of investigated traits. The tray of 128-cells results in lower quality cucumber seedlings compared to other containers. Tubes with volume of 120 cm3 and plastic cups with volume of 180 cm3 are more appropriate containers for the production of high quality cucumber seedlings. The DQI is a good indicator of the standard of quality of cucumber seedlings.

The features of firing aluminitride substrates, characterized by a high temperature of more than 1800 0С and the presence of a reducing environment, are described. It is shown that the high quality of substrates in parallelism, thermal conductivity, and other properties can be achieved, along with the establishment of optimal firing modes, using a special design of a capsule based on boron nitride, which is a container that consists of a body - a box of rectangular cross section, bottom and plane-parallel dividing plates with supports. To create a local (inside the capsule) clean recovery medium, thorn-groove interlocks between the body and the bottom are provided, filled with a heat-resistant inert powder.

Improvement of the sense of gain as an internal driving force is the key factor to improve the training quality of graduate students in food science. Utilizing Jiangsu University graduate students majoring in food science as research samples, this study analyzed the present situation of the “sense of gain” demand. We analyzed the reasonable appeals of graduate students during their study based on fully respecting and advocating students’ right of speech, listened to their opinions and suggestions on higher education, analyzed the main contradictions, and further put forward a series of countermeasures. For improving the graduate students’ sense of gain during the period of study, it is necessary to improve the training quality from the following five aspects: constructing high-quality courses, cultivating people’s responsibilities, implementing “soft elimination” of training links, carrying out diversified extracurricular activities, and developing comprehensive quality. This research is significant in improving the training quality of food science graduate students.

Today, the quality of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs has improved along with the quality of the installed LSI (Large Scale Integration) Thus, the cooling system needs to have high performance. However, LCD TV requires a large area but thin cooling system, so the TIM in which used in LCD TV requires highly softness. Thus we have developed high-quality yet soft thermal conductive sheets in which carbon fibers are directed in the thickness direction. The thermal conductivity of the 2-mm-thick sheets is more than 23 W/mK, and the compressibility is more than 10%. In this case the thermal conductivity was measured in accordance with ASTM D5470. The compressibility means the ratio of the difference between the initial thickness and the thickness when the sheets were loaded. The carbon fibers are more than 100 μm long and about 10 μm in diameter. This sheet contains alumina and aluminum nitride particles. The manufacturing process for the sheet is as follows. Step 1: The mixing process. Step 2: The resin including the carbon fibers and the particles is pressed into a long rectangular cast. Step 3: The resin is heated to harden it. Step 4: The resin is sliced into sheets. In step 1, because the carbon fibers are long, the fibers are likely affected by shear stress. Thus, the fibers are aligned in a lengthwise direction. In Step 4, we used a supersonic wave cutter to achieve ideal slicing, thereby reducing the thermal contact resistance. These processes produced high-quality yet soft thermal conductive sheets. In these processes, the carbon fibers aligned in the thickness direction, which was determined in an SEM observation. Moreover, we found that, by slicing in the orientation direction at inclining angles, only the softness improved, without any deterioration in the thermal conductivity.

Free-cutting steel gains specific working properties thanks to the high content of sulfur and phosphorus. These elements, especially sulfur, have a rather high tendency to segregation. Therefore, segregation defects in free-cutting steel continuously cast billets can be significantly developed. The aim of the work was to study the influence of the chemical composition of freecutting steel and casting technological parameters on the quality of the macrostructure of continuously cast billets. A metallographic assessment of the internal structure of cast metal made of free-cutting steel and data processing by application of correlation and regression analysis were the research methods. The array of production data of 43 heats of free-cutting steel of grade A12 was studied. Steel casting on a five-strand radial type continuous casting machine was carried out by various methods of metal pouring from tundish into the molds. Metal of 19 heats was poured with an open stream, and 24 heats – by a closed stream through submerged nozzles with a vertical hole. High-quality billets had a cross-sectional size of 150×150 mm. The macrostructure of high-quality square billets made of free-cutting steel of A12 grade is characterized by the presence of central porosity, axial segregation and peripheral point contamination, the degree of development of which was in the range from 1.5 to 2.0 points, segregation cracks and strips – about 1.0 points. In the course of casting with an open stream, almost all of these defects are more developed comparing with the casting by a closed stream. As a result of correlation and regression analysis, linear dependences of the development degree of segregation cracks and strips both axial and angular on the sulfur content in steel and on the ratio of manganese content to sulfur content were established. The degree of these defects development increases with growing of sulfur content in steel of A12 grade. These defects had especially strong development when sulfur content in steel was of more than 0.10%. To improve the quality of cast metal, it is necessary to have the ratio of the manganese content to the sulfur content in the metal more than eight.
