The article examines the effectiveness of existing measures to prevent insolvency (bankruptcy) of credit institutions, which are provided by the Federal Law “On Insolvency (Bankruptcy)", the directions of their development and problematic aspects. Separate analysis of the effectiveness of the State Corporation “Deposit Insurance Agency" as one of the key participants in the process of preventing bankruptcy of banks and their financial recovery. A statistical analysis has been performed on the number of bankruptcy cases initiated, the procedures performed, and the results of these procedures in recent years. A comparative analysis of the applied methods and procedures is also carried out depending on the goals of the legislator. This discloses the issue of maintaining a balance of interests among participants in the insolvency (bankruptcy) process of credit institutions. The issue of expediency of creation of the Fund of consolidation of the banking sector is raised. Partly examined are its tasks, resources, powers. Features of the prevention of bankruptcy of financial organizations are noted. The current practice of sanation is described, as well as proposals of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation to change it. The issue of the need to improve international regulation and cooperation between the countries in the issues of insolvency (bankruptcy) of banks as a consequence of their enlargement and increasing the importance for the stable functioning of both national and global economies is touched upon.

The stability of Russian banking sector is threatened by three negative tendencies - overheating of the credit market, significant decrease of banks capital adequacy ratios, and growing problems associated with banks lending to affiliated non-financial corporations. The co-existence of these processes reflects the crisis of the model of private investments in Russian banking sector, which was observed during the last 20 years. This paper analyzes the measures of the Bank of Russia undertaken to maintain the stability of the banking sector using the methodology of credit risk stress-testing. Based on this methodology we conclude that the Bank of Russias actions can prevent the overheating of the credit market, but they can also lead to undesirable effects: further expansion of the government ownership in Russian banking sector and substitution of domestic credit supply by cross-border corporate borrowings. The later weakens the competitive positions of Russian banks. We propose a set of measures to harmonize the prudential regulation of banks. Our suggestions rely on design and further implementation of the programs aimed at developing new markets for financial services provided by Russian banks to their corporate and retail customers. The estimated effects of proposed policy measures are both the increase in profitability and capitalization of Russian banks and the decrease of banks demand for government support.

The number of classical banks in the world has reduced. In the majority of countries the number of banks does not exceed 200. The uniqueness of the Russian banking sector is that in this respect it takes the third place in the world after the USA and Germany. The paper reviews the conclusions of the economic theory about the optimum structure of the banking market. The empirical analysis shows that the number of banks in a country is influenced by the size of its territory, population number and GDP per capita. Our econometric estimate is that the equilibrium number of banks in Russia should be in a range of 180-220 units.

The article analyzes urgent issues of the development of Russian banks. The probability of Moscow banks' regional expansion is noted. Hence the necessity for regional banks to find market niches. Competitive advantages of small and medium-sized banks as well as barriers to their activity are considered. Special attention is paid to the problems of corporate governance in banks. The results of the survey conducted by the Association of Regional Banks of Russia in summer of 2004 are analyzed.

The article analyzes factors that affect growth of the share of non-performing loans in the loan portfolio of Russian banks and proposes approaches for this share forecasting on the basis of dynamics of macroeconomic indicators. It also deals with methodological issues of remote stress-test of lending agencies. Using the results of conducted stress-test of Russian banks the authors assess their perspective capital needs in 2010 and estimate the share of government assistance in capital injections. Furthermore, the authors define the scale of vulnerable banks groups in the Russian banking sector.

The authors point out that the local market crisis - on the USA substandard loan market - has led to the uncertainty of the world financial market. It has caused the growing demand for liquidity in the framework of the world financial system. The Russian banking sector seems to be more stable under negative changes than banking systems of other emerging markets. At the same time one can assume that the crisis will become the factor of qualitative shift in the character of the Russian banking sector development - the shift from impetuous to more balanced growth.

Purpose- The primary purpose of the study is to determine the impact of organizational justice (OJ) on employee sustainability. Along with that, it also describes how organizational commitment mediates this direct relationship. This study includes all dimensions of OJ which are distributive, procedural and interactional (interpersonal & informational) within the context of a developing country (Pakistan). Design/Methodology- This study has considered employees working in the banking sector of Pakistan. Two hundred ten questionnaires were received back from employees. Regression analysis was used to analyze direct relationships between variables, while smart partial least squares (PLS) were used for mediation analysis. Findings- Results demonstrated that all hypothesis were accepted and it was also confirmed that organizational commitment (OC) mediates the direct relationship between OJ and employee sustainability (ES). Originality/value- Multidimensional construct of organizational justice was tested in this study, in the context of a developing country (Pakistan), to address the research gap.
