Walkability is becoming a popular buzzword in planning cities that suffers high level of pollution due to, amongst others, emission from automobiles are embracing walkability in order to reap its benefits. In addition to that, walkability is the measure of how satisfactorily the transportation system meets the need of walking of the community. Several studies around the world have put great efforts to highlight the importance of walkability in urban as it is an important measure in determining a better environment. There is a strong relationship between walkability, sustainable transportation and the environment. In addition to that, walkability is a concept that is consistent with sustainable development and transportation system due to its economic, social and environmental benefits. Walkability satisfaction rating within a localized neighborhood can be measured at the macro level with the aid of GIS at the initial development stages. The methods and techniques used are varying and no single walkability assessment tool can be designed to suit different environmental conditions. Different groups of societies for whom the theoretical and practical perception of cities development vary, or different types of neighborhoods with different needs would warrant different approaches. Therefore, this paper examines the methods, techniques and indicators that have been used to measure walkability and highlights the important benefits of improving walkability in the built environment. Moreover it also describes the relationship between walkability, sustainable transportation and environment.

Over the last 15 years, research on the effects of different types of education on labour market integration and labour market outcomes has evolved. Whereas much of the early work analysed school-to-work transition outcomes, the focus of more recent studies has shifted to the relationship between educational achievement and mid- and long-term labour market outcomes. The overarching question of this body of research asks whether the allocation to different types of education leads to different skill sets, to different employment opportunities and to jobs offering unequal wages, job autonomy or job security. However, pivotal issues related to the comparison of vocational and general types of education or upper-secondary and tertiary-level qualification remain ambiguous and are hampered by a lack of suitable data and methodological problems. The aim of this issue is to further this debate and to provide more insights into the relationship between individual and contextual factors, allocation within the educational system, educational achievement and labour market outcomes over the life course. The 12 articles collected in this issue highlight the importance of focussing on the specific features and functions of different education tracks and programs, of applying data and methods suitable for such analyses and of considering the interplay of different determinants of education outcomes, such as social origin, gender or ethnicity.

Regarding the level of smartphone use of Diklat’s participants, 52% (55 people) were included in moderate level, 16% (17 people) were considered high level smartphone users, and 32% (34 people) of the participants were low level users. Then, the results of the study for anxiety levels showed that 50 people (47%) of the participants had anxiety at a moderate level, 34 people (32%) had high level anxiety, and 22 people (21%) had low level anxiety. The more often the smartphone is used by them in daily life, the higher the level of anxiety experienced by them if they do not have access to their smartphone. Anxiety arises because they cannot send messages, browse, or make a call to people (such as family and friends). Even, the intensity of using smartphones is increasing now as there are many mobile applications that provide facilities for human life such as online transportation and mobile banking so that the absence of smartphones will increase anxiety

The article is devoted to the analysis of the results of empirical research of psychosemantic features of perception of animation advertising by the representatives of the youth target audience. Differences in the perception of animation advertising between representatives of three age groups within the youth target audience were established. The authors identified four factors (“Confidence”, “Attractiveness”, “Trust”, “Consumer Activity”), which are manifested in the perception of animation advertising by young teens (12-15 y.o.). At the same time, for аdolescence teens (16-19 y.o.) and youth (20-24 y.o.) there are three factors (“Confidence”, “Attractiveness”, “Consumer activity”), which determine their attitude to animation advertising. The peculiarities of young people's attitude to animation advertising with different types of graphics (2-D, 3-D, combined) and consumer motivation of this target audience are revealed. It has been identified that commercials based on the use of 3-D graphics are evaluated by representatives of the youth audience (of all age groups) most positively and often make them want to buy the products of the advertised brand. Commercials based on the use of 2-D graphics technology attract the most attention of younger teens (12-15 y.o.) and create the appropriate consumer motivation. The commercials created on the basis of the combined graphics are the least interesting to the representatives of the youth target audience. However, the ideas underlying such advertising are the most understandable for youth, and the advertising itself is perceived as relevant and evokes a sense of trust in the product and brand. The connection between the level of emotional intelligence and creativity with the peculiarities of the perception of animation advertising is revealed. Subjects with higher level of emotional intelligence rate animation graphics in advertising more positively than people with low levels of emotional intelligence. Representatives of the youth target audience (all age groups) with high levels of emotional intelligence are most sensitive to animation advertising using 3-D graphics. A similar trend is observed in subjects with a high level of creativity, rate commercials using 3-D graphics higher and perceive it more positively (compared with subjects with lower level of creativity). It is established that young teenagers (12-15 y.o.) with a high level of creativity also positively perceive animation advertising using 2-D graphics technology. Prospects for further research include a more detailed study of the perception of animation advertising with different types of graphics by different age groups, determining the relationship between the perception of animation advertising and the value-semantic sphere of the personality of consumers.

Abstract In the Philebus, Socrates maintains two theses about the relationship between pleasure and the good life: (1) the mixed life of pleasure and intelligence is better than the unmixed life of intelligence, and: (2) the unmixed life of intelligence is the most divine. Taken together, these two claims lead to the paradoxical conclusion that the best human life is better than the life of a god. A popular strategy for avoiding this conclusion is to distinguish human from divine goods; on such a reading, pleasure has merely instrumental value, and it benefits human beings only as a result of their imperfect nature. I argue that certain ‘pure’ pleasures are full-fledged, intrinsic goods in the Philebus, which are even worthy of the gods (thus Socrates ultimately rejects thesis 2). This positive evaluation of pure pleasure results from a detailed examination of pleasure, which reveals that different types of pleasures have fundamentally different natures.

Acne (acne vulgaris) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease resulting from the overproduction of sebum and blockage hyperplastic sebaceous glands with subsequent inflammation. The disease most commonly occurs in puberty and affects more than half of the adolescent population. The aim of this investigation was to study the specificity of such psychological characteristics such as hardiness and self-attitude of adolescents suffering from acne moderate and severe stages. The research subjects were 107 adolescents with acne (57 males and 50 females) undergoing treatment at the dermatological Department SPbSPMU (St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University), the comparison group included 100 apparently healthy adolescents (50 male, 50 female). The study used the Test of hardiness S. Maddi adaptation D.A. Leontiev and E.I. Rasskazova and research technique of self-attitude by S.R. Pantileev and V.V. Stolin. We found that self-doubt, dissatisfaction with oneself as a personality, expectation of negative attitude from others are detected in adolescents with acne and cosmetic defect in this study. Low level of the hardiness is associated with the inability to resist circumstances, to see themselves as the source of activity and with negative emotional position to themselves. On the other hand, adolescents with acne with a high level of indicators of hardiness are characterized by the lack of internal tensions, self-confidence, willingness to be proactive and positive expectations from the surrounding reality, including the relationship to them of other people.

This chapter discusses Dickens’s playful engagement with material culture, noting key stylistic features and the implications for subject–object relations. It distinguishes between objects that the narrative marks as significant and others that remain part of the mise-en-scène and examines how commodity criticism and thing theory have raised different types of objects to prominence. Subsequent discussion of a talking antique chair in The Pickwick Papers, bottles of Madeira wine in Dombey and Son, and gifts sent to the author by an admirer explores the importance of long-lived objects to Dickens’s material imagination. Entwining the endurance of things with the impermanence of human life, Dickens’s persistent objects offer further ways to think about the relationship between people and things, and the stories they might tell about one another.
