Treatment of osteoarthritis requires the use of drugs that will slow down the destruction of articular cartilage and reduce joint pain. Slow-acting symptomatic medications are often used in daily practice. The most frequently used and considered the most effective preparations are glucosamine and chondroitin. High-quality studies have shown that the combination of this both substances is effective in slowing the progression of the disease and reducing pain, and is also safe, even with prolonged use.

♦ Articular cartilage has a poor capacity to heal by itself♦ Left alone, large areas are likely to progress into osteoarthritis♦ The goal of cartilage repair is both short term improvement in function and long term durability♦ There are several available strategies including non-surgical options, and these are formulated into an algorithm♦ Cartilage repair is an advancing field and the future lies in bioengineering and high quality comparative clinical analysis.

If there were one lacking or insufficient issue which conscious medical orientated homeopaths could regret, it would be probably high quality clinical research. A big part of the homeopathic community still insists in the traditional ways of building knowledge, leading us nowhere. There is now an agreement between clinical researchers that there have been done enough efforts with Randomized Control Trials (RCT). But what we need today is good quality scientific research that could improve our daily practice. This article introduce the REDIMEH, an Ibero-American Integrative Network for Clinical Research in Homeopathy, horizontal in structure, with no political objectives, with the only intention of joining efforts in order to obtain enough clinical data to draw out valid conclusions. Keywords: REDIMED, atopic dermatitis, clinical research. The main goals in dental practice are the high quality of the work, reductionof the risk of medical errors and effective diagnosis and treatment of oral tissues diseases; the whole multilevel system of medical care is willing to increase these indicators. Therefore, it is important to find ways to improve and maintain the dental care for the population [1]. One of these ways is the implementation of dental care standards. These standards are developed by the Dental Association of Russia and updated in 2018. There are specific algorithms and clinical recommendations for the treatment of patients with pulp and periapical tissue diseases

The internet makes it possible to search in an endless variety of information. However, not all information is valid and reliable. Googling the term schizophrenia gives over 10 million hits. Among these hits there are some high quality websites, but also many sites with useless or even misleading or false information. With this workshop the editors-in-chief of the website www.psychiatrynet.eu will present search strategies for the participants, which they can apply in their daily practice. In June 2008 the English version of www.psychiatrynet.eu has been launched modelled after the Dutch website www.psychiatrienet.nl (launched in 2001). The lead of the website is ‘An independent selection of high quality links by your colleagues’. Independency is a basic value and the financial support comes from the Foundation of the Netherlands and Flemish Journal of Psychiatry. The current editorial board consists of over 50 mainly Dutch and Flemish psychiatrists, who select links and provide a short description of the links. In the forthcoming years members from different European countries will be selected to join the European editorial board. The goal is to become a key website for psychiatrists in Europe.

Background: The high prevalence of chronic persistent neck pain not only leads to disability but also has a significant economic, societal, and health impact. Among multiple modalities of treatments prescribed in the management of neck and upper extremity pain, surgical, interventional and conservative modalities have been described. Cervical epidural injections are also common modalities of treatments provided in managing neck and upper extremity pain. They are administered by either an interlaminar approach or transforaminal approach. Objectives: To determine the long-term efficacy of cervical interlaminar and transforaminal epidural injections in the treatment of cervical disc herniation, spinal stenosis, discogenic pain without facet joint pain, and post surgery syndrome. Methods: The literature search was performed from 1966 to October 2014 utilizing data from PubMed, Cochrane Library, US National Guideline Clearinghouse, previous systematic reviews, and cross-references. The evidence was assessed based on best evidence synthesis with Level I to Level V. Results: There were 7 manuscripts meeting inclusion criteria. Of these, 4 assessed the role of interlaminar epidural injections for managing disc herniation or radiculitis, and 3 assessed these injections for managing central spinal stenosis, discogenic pain without facet joint pain, and post surgery syndrome. There were 4 high quality manuscripts. A qualitative synthesis of evidence showed there is Level II evidence for each etiology category. The evidence is based on one relevant, high quality trial supporting the efficacy of cervical interlaminar epidural injections for each particular etiology. There were no randomized trials available assessing the efficacy of cervical transforaminal epidural injections. Limitations: Paucity of available literature, specifically conditions other than disc herniation. Conclusion: This systematic review with qualitative best evidence synthesis shows Level II evidence for the efficacy of cervical interlaminar epidural injections with local anesthetic with or without steroids, based on at least one high-quality relevant randomized control trial in each category for disc herniation, discogenic pain without facet joint pain, central spinal stenosis, and post surgery syndrome. Key words: Chronic neck pain, cervical disc herniation, cervical spinal stenosis, cervical post surgery syndrome, cervical discogenic pain, cervical epidural injections, interlaminar epidural injections, transforaminal epidural injections, steroids, local anesthetic

Continuous reevaluation of protocols for patients' care is necessary to maintain high quality and cost-effectiveness in today's healthcare environment. A study of patients who had cardiothoracic surgery proved that after early extubation, patients could safely be given oxygen via nasal cannula with maintenance of acceptable oxygen saturation. The positive outcomes of this study were shorter exposure to oxygen at higher concentrations, greater compliance by patients, greater comfort for patients, and cost savings for the institution. This project was the result of thoughtful consideration and a willingness to question a standard practice that had been in existence in this cardiothoracic program for 20 years. Both patients and the institution benefit when we question why we do things and thoroughly evaluate our daily practice. All practitioners should always look for ways to change and improve practice for the betterment of patients.
