There are several options for replacing a missing maxillary central incisor in orthodontic treatment. Substituting a missing central incisor with the contralateral one can be a useful approach to reduce the number of teeth that require extraction during the treatment. Normal tooth movement across an ossified midpalatal suture (MPS) has only been observed in an animal experiment. Herein, we describe the treatment of a 26-year-old woman who had lost multiple teeth on one side, including the maxillary right central incisor, which required extraction due to endodontic failure. The maxillary left central incisor was moved into the position of the maxillary right central incisor. All other left maxillary teeth were moved mesially to close the space. After completion of orthodontic treatment, acrylic build-up was performed on the maxillary left lateral incisor, which underwent morphological modification to replicate the morphology of a maxillary right incisor. The patient was pleased with the treatment outcome. Cone-beam computed tomography provided evidence of tooth movement across the MPS. Although the movement of the tooth across the MPS is feasible, the treatment plan should also take other treatment options into consideration.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) provides images without overlapping anatomical structures, which is important for the diagnosis and assessment of florid cemento-osseous dysplasia. This fibro-osseous lesion that affects the alveolar process without compromising the teeth’ pulp vitality is usually asymptomatic, and bone expansion, cortical disruption, and root resorption are uncommon. Due to its avascular characteristic, surgical procedures are often contraindicated. In this case, a 59-year-old female patient presented with a complaint of pain in the right maxillary central incisor. Panoramic and periapical radiographs showed florid cemento-osseous dysplasia in some regions. The right maxillary central incisor showed an extensive radiolucent image suggestive of root resorption but without fibro- -osseous lesion. For better evaluation and implant planning, CBCT was performed and demonstrated florid cemento-osseous dysplasia adjacent to the right maxillary central incisor, contraindicating implant placement. In other regions, CBCT enabled the identification of the expansive features of this fibro-osseous lesion.

Objectives: The aim of this case report is to report the radiographic features of an internal resorption in maxillary central incisor and to emphasize the benefits of CBCT in this case. Case Report: A 14-year-old male went to Universitas Padjadjaran Dental Hospital with a discoloration of his fracture upper anterior teeth. The anamnesis revealed that the patient had history of a fall in about 6 years ago. Patient didn’t complain about pain when examination happened and wanted to have his teeth treated. Periapical radiograph showed an internal resorption in maxillary central incisor. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) was used to see other findings before determining the treatment plan. Conclusion: Internal resorption gives a characteristic appearance on the radiograph. CBCT modalities provide more information than conventional ones so that the use of this modality is not only to establish a diagnosis, but also can be used in determining the right treatment plan.

SUMMARY Internal bleaching in endodontically treated teeth requires care and protection to prevent harm to the periodontal ligament due to peroxide and may result in external root resorption. There is a myriad of treatment options when this occurs, such as monitoring, extraction, and subsequent rehabilitation with implants or fixed prosthodontics. In some cases, such as the one described here, a conservative attempt to maintain the tooth as a single structure can be made by sealing the resorptive defect. In the present case, we show a multidisciplinary approach where orthodontics, periodontics, and restorative dentistry were involved in treating the maxillary right central incisor (#8) of a 65-year-old patient with extensive cervical resorption, whose chief complaint was esthetics. The proposed treatment was extrusion of the tooth followed by curettage and restoration of the defect with glass ionomer cement. The patient has been followed for 15 years with no signs of recurrence, maintenance of periodontal health, and patient satisfaction with the esthetic outcome.

Clinically, supernumerary teeth are able to cause different local disorders and the most common one is impaction of maxillary incisors. Impacted maxillary incisors substantially affect esthetics, function, and self‑esteem of patients. Impaction of maxillary permanent incisor is a rare clinical entity in dental practice. Although impaction of a permanent tooth is rarely diagnosed during the mixed dentition period, an impacted central incisor is usually diagnosed accurately when there is delay in the eruption of tooth. Multiple treatment options are available for impacted incisors. Surgical-orthodontic treatment is one of the alternative option for the correction. Early diagnosis and management of supernumer¬ary teeth is important to prevent the need for more complex surgical and orthodontic treatment. Here, we present a report of two cases of impacted maxillary incisors and its management

Abstract Introduction: In the literature, no consensus has been reached about orthodontic treatment time. Similarly, the determining factors of the latter have not yet been completely elucidated. Objective: The aim of the present article was to deepen the discussion on the major factors influencing orthodontic treatment time, as well as to present some strategies that have proven effective in controlling and shortening it. Method: Based on evidences found in the literature, the method focussed in providing the basis for clinical decision-making. Conclusions: Treatment time varies according to the type of malocclusion and treatment options. Orthodontist’s influence, patient’s characteristics and compliance are all decisive in determining treatment time, while the effects provided by orthodontic appliances and methods used to speed tooth movement up seem little effective.

Teeth with calcific metamorphosis pose a challenge to the endodontist in achieving proper access, identification, and debridement of the root canal. With the conventional technique, radiographs and bur orientation have dictated the access cavity preparation, which leads to the removal of more sound tooth structure and iatrogenic errors. To overcome these issues, the recent diagnostic imaging techniques such as cone beam computed tomography followed by three-dimensional fabrication of template have been proposed, which aid the clinician to accurately locate and negotiate the obliterated canal. The present case report describes the importance of conservative access cavity preparation with the use of the guided endodontic technique for the treatment of calcified canals in the maxillary central incisor.
