The translation process is an activity of transferring one language to another, from the translation process the researcher examines the translation techniques and translation quality of the collection of translation poems by Nizar Qabbani entitled Asyhadu An La Imraata Illa Anti. The methodological foundation that the researcher uses is a qualitative method. In this study, the researcher found 160 Idhafi phrases which were translated using 15 translation techniques, and 2 translation techniques that had good quality in conveying the intent, message, and purpose to the reader into the target language. That is, the equivalent technique generally has the highest value on three aspects of assessment for the quality of translation, among others, the accuracy aspect has a score of 83.3%, then the acceptability aspect has a score of 85.7%, and in the readability aspect, it has a score of 78.6% for further research. The Old Man and the Sea is a literature work by Ernest Hemingway. It has been translated into many languages even in Indonesian by Deera Army. Hemingway used more clause complex in producing his works. It causes problems in translation such as: translators should give more attention to the translation techniques used, readability decrease, and etc. On the other hand, Deera Army solved those problems by splitting the clause complex into shorter one. It is needed to conduct a study in how to make translation of complex clause. This study can be clearly conducted by using Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG) approach. In addition, this study is aimed at: (1) describing how can be interdependency and logical semantics of complex clause in source language realized into interdependency and logical semantics of complex clause in target language of The Old Man and the Sea Novel (2) describing what translation techniques on taxis markers are used in translating from source language to target language (3) describing translation quality of clause complex translation in target language. The result of the analysis showed that there are 400 sentences which have been broken into 701 clauses. Based on the analysis, there are paratactic and hypotactic form. Paratactic took 65.30% and hypotactic, 34.50%. All of them affect translation quality. Based on the analysis, the average of accuration takes up 2.89, naturalness with 2.96 and readibility with 2.97. The writer suggests that the next researcher can conduct the same research in the deeper way.

The objectives of the research are to identify the types of translation technique, to evaluate the translation quality and to find out the effect of translation techniques on the translation quality used by Pein Akatsuki and Deni Aurora in Indonesian subtitles of Coco movie. This research applies descriptive qualitative method to assess data with documents and informants as source of data. The result shows that there are 16 types of translation techniques used by Pein Akatsuki and Deni Aurora in translating Indonesian subtitles. For both subtitlers, literal translation and borrowing create high level of accuracy, acceptability, and readability. Modulation and the other techniques are showed in high and medium levels of accurate translation, but they result in high levels of acceptability and readability. Based on the findings, the translation techniques applied by the subtitlers contribute positively to the quality of Indonesian subtitles in terms of accuracy, acceptability, and readability.

Subtitling is an effective way to provide dialogues or narrative for a movie. The benefit is for people to enjoy the film even though its different from their native language. They enjoy movies over the world with different countries and styles by the dialogues translated. This research aims to know the strategy of responding to arguing in the file's subtitle titled Becoming Jane, to find out the translation techniques used by the translator, and to assess the translation quality in terms of the accuracy, acceptability, and readability. The research method is descriptive qualitative method with "Becoming Jane" movie and its subtitles as the data. Data were collected from document analysis and focus group discussions with the score of the accuracy, acceptability, and readability. The results indicate that the character used a strategy of agreeing, persisting, and complying. While six methods of translation were found, namely literal, modulation, established equivalence, borrowing, and adaptation. The quality of the translation of the strategy of responding to speech acts has been categorized as less accurate, less acceptable, and moderate in terms of readability

This paper entitled “The Translation Ideology of English Idiomatic Expressions in Temperatures Rising into Indonesian in Hasrat Membara” which discusses the use of translation technique, translation method and translation ideology of idiomatic expressions. The problems of the study mainly focuses on the types of translation technique, translation method and translation ideology found in the novel. The aims of this research are to find out the types of translation technique, translation method and translation ideology applied in both novels. The data are presented and explained based on theoretical framework. The data were taken from a novel written by Sandra Brown. The data were collected through documentation and observation. This study used descriptive qualitative method and applied the theory proposed by Molina and Albir (2002) to classify the types of translation technique, the theory proposed by Newmark (1988) to describe the types of translation method and the theory proposed by Hatim (2001) to find the ideology applied in the translated novel. Among twelve translation techniques, there are only five types of translation techniques found in the data of the novel namely variation, adaptation, description, deletion, and generalization. Based on the types of translation technique found, all of them are oriented towards the target language. Thus, the method used in the translated novel is communicative method which is oriented towards to the target language. Based on translation technique and method, it is concluded that the translated novel has a tendency to domestication ideology which is target language oriented.

<p>In order for the translator to be able to translate the source text into the target language in a relevant way, the strata of the translated text through which relevance can be obtained (pragmatic, pragmatic-semantic, and semantic strata) should be equalized to that of the source text (Li &amp; Luo, 2004). The translator can achieve this by raising his/her awareness of the source and target language pragmatic perspectives. To investigate the actual effect of developing knowledge of pragmatic perspectives of the source language and the target language on the quality of translation of culture-bound texts, the current study was conducted on 64 Iranian undergraduate students of English translation. The study consisted of three phases: 1) administering a culture-bound text to be translated by all participants, 2) dividing participants into two groups: one merely receiving translation exercises while the other receiving metapragmatic discussions of the pragmatic perspectives of the source language along with translation exercises, and 3) assessing the translation quality of both groups immediately and two months following the treatment. The study revealed the significant positive effect of pragmatic instruction on improving the quality of translation of culture-bound texts and maintaining the obtained knowledge. The pedagogical implications of the findings suggested incorporating the pragmalinguistic and sociopragmatic perspectives of the source language and their distinctions with the pragmalinguistic and sociopragmatic perspectives of the target language into translation classes as an integral part of translation classes.</p>

<p><em>The aims of the study are  to identify types of sentences in the CIF sponsor letters and the text function or translation purpose in target text; to describe the translation techniques, methods, and ideology in achieving the translation purpose; to identify the impact of the translation techniques, methods, and ideology applied to the translation quality in terms of the accuracy of the accuracy, acceptability and readability; and to assess the translation techniques, methods and ideology selected in achieving the translation purpose.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>This study is a descriptive, qualitative research and focused on a single case. Sources of the data were 10 pairs CIF sponsor letters and the informants who gave information about accuracy, acceptability and readability of translation. Techniques of collecting data were document analysis, queestionnaires and FGD. Purposive sampling was applied in this research.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>Findings of this research show the followings. The types of sentenses are declaratives,interrogatives, imperatives and exclamatives. The result shows 15 functions of illocutionary act. There are 14 kinds of translation techniques to overcome the translation problems, 13,67% tends to the source text and 86,33% tents to the target text. The translation methods tends to communicative translation method and free translation method with domestication ideology. The impact of the the application of those translation techniques, methods and ideology toward the quality of translation is satisfactory with the average score of 2,84. This value indicates the accuracy, acceptance and readability of this translation is satisfactory. Communication's purpose is delivered when the intention of the speaker or writer is accepted and understood by the readers and listeners. People have their way of delivering ideas explicitly or implicitly in the communication process. Therefore, comprehending techniques of translation becomes influential in building meaningful connections and enhance students’ competence in the translation. However, students believe that translation is tiring and boring, which makes the students' ability in translation low. The research aims are to analyze translation techniques in Disney’s Aladdin (2019) focused on the use of expressive utterances and how to implement the techniques in teaching translation. Through a descriptive qualitative method, the writers analyzed the data by selecting, identifying, classifying, describing the data, and from the results, draw conclusions. The data were analyzed by using Searle’s (1969) speech act theory. The results showed that there are seven kinds of expressive utterances translation techniques used in Disney’s Aladdin (2019), such as linguistics compression, established equivalence, literal translation, reduction, amplification, modulation, and calque. Implementing translation techniques in teaching translation can increase sensitivity into language, gain more extensive insights about cultures, and enable in producing better translation quality. Furthermore, teaching translation techniques becomes significant in developing students’ critical thinking to present ideas into target language appropriately. This research will give information concerning the use of translation techniques and how to apply them in translation teaching. Further research can replace the media for translation techniques learning.

This study was focused on evaluating the quality of the Indonesian-English translation of the research abstract written by the students of Harapan Bangsa University. The analysis included the analysis of translation quality in terms of accuracy, naturalness, acceptability, and readability as well as the translation ideology. The results of the study showed that the accuracy of the research abstract translation was dominated by highly accurate translation and less accurate translation in the target language which shared the same percentage as many as 36%. In terms of naturalness, it showed that 34% of the translation was categorized into highly natural. With regard to translation acceptability, it showed that 61% of the data belonged to acceptable. Meanwhile, in terms of translation readability, it showed that 75% of the data was categorized as readable. The register and genre of the research abstract texts and its translation were kept equivalent and holding the same purposes as it was translated overtly. In translating the research abstract text, it is suggested that the translator could highly consider the accuracy, naturalness, acceptability, and readability of the translation, particularly for target readers. With regard to the translation ideology, the translator is suggested to grasp the register and genre of the text before the translation process and regard the target readers to determine whether the text should be translated covertly or overtly.

This research is aimed to analyze the types of onomatopoeia, techniques of translation as well as the acceptability aspect of the translated onomatopoeia in The Adventure of Tintin comic in order to compare how English and Indonesian in naming the sound of something and know how translation techniques can affect the quality of translation products. This research used descriptive qualitative method and total sampling. This research primarily applied the theory of onomatopoeia especially the types of onomatopoeia from Thomas and Clara (2004:4), Molina and Albir’s (2002: 509) theory of translation techniques and Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) proposed by Nababan (2012: 44) which focused on acceptability aspect. The result shows that there are 121 data found in 21 comic series of Tintin. There are four types of onomatopoeia which are call of animals (19%), sound made by humans (17.3%), sound of nature (8.3%) and miscellaneous sound (55.4%). Meanwhile, techniques that are used by the translator are only five techniques. The techniques consist of adaptation (5%), borrowing (34.7%), discursive creation (19%), established equivalent (37.2%), and reduction (4.1%). At last, the translated onomatopoeia in Tintin comic are predominantly acceptable which has a total 82% of onomatopoeia, 15% belong to less acceptable, and 3% belong to unacceptable

<p>The author is analyzing and conducting a translation research in interrogative utterances from the film "500 Days of Summer" especially WH questions, because WH questions not only contain information at the surface structure, but also pragmatic functions within them. This study is being carried out in order to help the writer and readers understand interrogative sentences more clearly. This research is conducted under Translational research using a descriptive qualitative method. The analysis applies the theory of Nida &amp; Taber’s translation theory, Newmark’s translation theory, Mona Baker’s translation techniques theory, Marcella Frank’s interrogative sentences theory and Nababan, Nuraeni &amp; Sumardiono’s translation quality assessment theory.</p>The scope of this research is a translational analysis of a film subtitle. This research focuses on the translation of interrogative utterances in the form of WH questions in the film "500 Days of Summer" specifically character dialogues. This research intends to investigate the pragmatic function of the utterances on the target language, as well as the pragmatic differences that may exist between the source and target languages, as well as the translator's translation techniques, including their impact on translation quality.
