This work aimed to analyze the physicochemical properties of cellulose from OPT used in the fabrication of CMF and evaluate the efficacy of the hydrogel CMF as an encapsulant for L. fermentum InaCC B1295 stored at room temperature and in the refrigerator. The Kjeldahl method was used to evaluate the protein content; the gravimetric method was used to determine OPT's ash, moisture, and fiber contents; the Soxhlet method was used to determine the fat content carbohydrates were computed using the difference method. The levels of holocellulose, lignin, and cellulose were also determined. Viability, acid and bile resistance of strain B1295 were evaluated at various temperatures for 35 days. The most abundant component of OPT fiber was cellulose, followed by hemicellulose and lignin. XRD examination revealed that OPT cellulose has a crystal index of 83.40%. FTIR analysis was used to detect the stretching vibrations of the –OH group on cellulose at 3419.03 cm-1. CMF hydrogel from OPT sustained L. fermentum InaCC B1295 survival for up to 28 days at room and refrigerated temperatures. At acidic conditions and in the presence of bile, the viability of L. fermentum InaCC B1295 was excellent, with a drop in cell population of less than 0.2 log CFU/g over 35 days at room and refrigerated temperatures. CMF obtained from OPT can be used as an encapsulant to maintain viability, acid resistance and bile of probiotics. The yellowfin fish and terubuk were still rarely used in Papua. This study aimed to determine the physicochemical properties of complementary feeding biscuit formulated with yellowfin fish flour and terubuk flour to improve the nutritional status of children in Papua. A completely randomized single factor-experimental study by using three formulations of yellowfin fish flour and terubuk flour, F1 (1:3), F2 (1:1), and F3 (3:1) was conducted. The carbohydrate content was analyzed with by the difference method, fat by Soxhlet method, protein by Kjeldahl method, fiber by gravimetry method, iron and phosphorus by spectrophotometry method. The physical properties in terms of density, reconstitution and texture were conducted. Sensory evaluation was conducted to determine the acceptance of complementary feeding biscuits. Data were analyzed using the One-Way ANOVA test, Kruskall-Wallis test, Tukey test and Mann-Whitney test. Complementary feeding biscuits F1, F2 and F3 contained energy (435.58; 426.85; 436.71 kcal), protein (13.86; 15.75; 17.33 g), carbohydrate (23.19; 24.79; 20.45 g), fat (20.58; 20.40; 20.62 g), fiber (26.22; 20.63; 25.25 g), iron (3.76; 4.03; 3.68 mg), and phosphorus (267.70; 266.36; 275.79 mg). Complementary feeding biscuits had the following physical properties: density (0.64; 0.68; 0.70 g/mL), reconstitute test (20; 20; 25 mL) and texture test (468.78; 299.55; 408.05 gf). The complementary feeding biscuit was accepted by the panelists. The recommended serving size of complementary feeding biscuit with yellowfin fish flour and terubuk flour was 45 g or four pieces of biscuit needed to fulfill the required 30% of children’s protein per day

Wide spread in the values of the elasticity modulus of the titanium VT6 alloy and its analogs Ti—6Al—4V, Ti—6Al—4V ELI at room temperature and at elevated temperatures is revealed аs result of the literature sources analysis. The data are ambiguous, the available temperature dependences of the elasticity modulus have very different values starting from the temperature T l 500 °C. Mathematical modeling of the warping process is carried out on the example of figurine-shaped stamped blank of turbine blade using various dependences of the elasticity modulus on temperature. Cases of warping during cooling of stamped blank after cooling-down in stamp with and without cumulative deformation are considered. The difference in the course of thermal deformations during the cooling of the workpiece is obtained using different temperature dependences of the elasticity modulus. The presence of preliminary deformation increases the warping of the workpieces.

Given their beneficial effects in terms of health, the natural products, especially beehive products, have drawn the attention of consumers since long time ago. In order to guarantee the quality of these products on the market, their chemical composition needs to be analyzed. Thus, this current research had as objective the establishment of quality parameters for beehive brood food derived products: apilarnil and queen bee larvae triturate. These two products were compared with royal jelly which is the basis of brood food in the first 3 days of larval stage. The carbohydrates were determined by HPLC-IR and allowed the identification of seven carbohydrate compounds, predominantly glucose, fructose and sucrose. The lipid profile was analyzed by the Soxhlet method. The total protein content was determined by the Kjeldahl method. Free amino acids were analyzed by LC-MS. A total of 31 amino acids were identified of which nine are essential amino acids for humans.

The degree of polymerization for dimethacrylate resin-based materials (BisGMA, TEGDMA, UDMA, HEMA) ranges from 55 to 75%. Literature data indicate that polymerization efficacy depends, among other factors, on the type of methacrylate resin comprising the material. The aim of this study was to evaluate the polymerization efficacy of four dental cement materials characterized by different polymerization mechanisms using FTIR analysis. In the present study, the FTIR method was adopted to analyze the degree of polymerization efficacy of four resin-based dental cement materials, two of which were self-cured and two were dual-cured cements. The IR spectral analysis was performed 24 h after the polymerization of the cementitious material. RelyX ARC cement exhibits the lowest polymerization efficacy (61.3%), while that of Variolink II (85.8%) and Maxcem Elite is the highest (90.1%). Although the efficacy of self-cured cements appears to be superior, the difference is not statistically significant (p = 0.280). Polymerization efficacy largely depends on the chemical structure of the material in terms of the presence of a particular methacrylate resin and less on the polymerization mechanism itself, i.e., whether it is a self-cured or dually cured dental cement. Thus, in clinical practice, cementitious materials with a higher proportion of TEGDMA compared with BisGMA are recommended.

The influence of length and condition of Biomass Storage on the biosorption of lead and zinc that present together in a solution by Saccharomyces cerevisiae biomass were studied. In this experiment, variables of length and condition of biomass storage were examined. Concentration of lead and zinc were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometric (AAS) using air-acetilene as atomizing flame. Loading of lead and zinc on the biomass were determined as the difference between the initial and the final concentration of lead and zinc in the solution. Biosorption of lead and zinc were influenced by condition and storage of the biomass. Storage of biomass in the room temperature for one week cause an increasing uptake. Storage for longer period result in decrease of lead and zinc uptake. Storage of biomass in a freezer up to 2 weeks increased the uptake of lead, but did not influence the uptake of zinc. Storage for longer period decreased the uptake of both of lead and zinc. For all condition the uptake of lead higher than the uptake of zinc by Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Inhibition effect of Costusafer on mild steel in 0.5 M HCl was studied using gravimetric method at room temperature. It was found out that Costusafer inhibited the corrosion of mild steel in the acidic environment and that the efficiency of inhibition increased as the concentration of the inhibitor in the environment increased. The data was used to test different isotherms and it suited the Langmuir isotherm. A value of -15.995 kJmol-1 was gotten for the ∆Goads. This value showed that the extracts of Costusafer inhibited the corrosion process through physiosorption mechanism. The high value of inhibition efficiency of the extract as the concentration increased in rationalized in terms of the increase in herteroatoms, saponnins and tannins which are present in the extract.


The magnetic and other related properties of neodymium sulphate have been the subject of numerous investigations in recent years, but there is still a remarkable conflict of evidence on all the essential points. The two available determinations of the susceptibility of the powdered salt at low temperatures, those of Gorter and de Haas (1931) from 290 to 14° K and of Selwood (1933) from 343 to 83° K both fit the expression X ( T + 45) = constant over the range of temperature common to both, but the constants are not the same and the susceptibilities at room temperature differ by 11%. The fact that the two sets of results can be converted the one into the other by multiplying throughout by a constant factor suggested that the difference in the observed susceptibilities was due to some error of calibration. It could, however, also be due to the different purity of the samples examined though the explanation of the occurrence of the constant factor is then by no means obvious. From their analysis of the absorption spectrum of crystals of neodymium sulphate octahydrate Spedding and others (1937) conclude that the crystalline field around the Nd+++ ion is predominantly cubic in character since they find three energy levels at 0, 77 and 260 cm. -1 .* Calculations of the susceptibility from these levels reproduce Selwood’s value at room temperature but give no agreement with the observations-at other temperatures. On the other hand, Penney and Schlapp (1932) have shown that Gorter and de Haas’s results fit well on the curve calculated for a crystalline field of cubic symmetry and such a strength that the resultant three levels lie at 0, 238 and 834 cm. -1 , an overall spacing almost three times as great as Spedding’s.

This research studied the degradation of tensile properties of kenaf fibre reinforced polypropylene composites due to cyclic immersion into two different solutions, as well as comparison of the developed composites’ tensile properties under continuous and cyclic immersion. Composites with 40% and 60% fibre loadings were immersed in tap water and bleach for 4 cycles. Each cycle consisted of 3 days of immersion and 4 days of conditioning in room temperature (28°C and 55% humidity). The tensile strength and modulus of composites were affected by fibre composition, type of liquid of immersion, and number of cycles. The number of immersion cycles and conditioning caused degradation to tensile strength and modulus of kenaf fibre reinforced polypropylene composites. Continuous and cyclic immersion in bleach caused tensile strength of the composites to differ significantly whereas, for tensile modulus, the difference was insignificant in any immersion and fibre loadings. However, continuous immersion in the bleach reduced the tensile strength of composites more compared to cyclic immersion. These preliminary results suggest further evaluation of the suitability of kenaf fibre reinforced polypropylene composites for potential bathroom application where the composites will be exposed to water/liquid in cyclic manner due to discontinuous usage of bathroom.

Half-Heuslers (HHs) are promising thermoelectric materials with great compositional flexibility. Here, we extend work on the p-type doping of TiCoSb using abundant elements. Ti0.7V0.3Co0.85Fe0.15Sb0.7Sn0.3 samples with nominal 17.85 p-type electron count were investigated. Samples prepared using powder metallurgy have negative Seebeck values, S ≤ −120 µV K−1, while arc-melted compositions are compensated semiconductors with S = −45 to +30 µV K−1. The difference in thermoelectric response is caused by variations in the degree of segregation of V(Co0.6Fe0.4)2Sn full-Heusler and Sn phases, which selectively absorb V, Fe, and Sn. The segregated microstructure leads to reduced lattice thermal conductivities, κlat = 4.5−7 W m−1 K−1 near room temperature. The largest power factor, S2/ρ = 0.4 mW m−1 K−2 and ZT = 0.06, is observed for the n-type samples at 800 K. This works extends knowledge regarding suitable p-type dopants for TiCoSb.
