The purpose of this research is to improve students' critical thinking skills towards environmental problems through mini-project practicum activities on the concept of understanding public perceptions of environmental problems. This research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were Semester II class E students who took Environmental Science courses in the Even Semesters of the 2019/2020 Academic Year. The instrument used to measure critical thinking skills using indicators developed by Ennis are 1) Elementary, 2) Clarification Basic Support, 3) Inference, 4) Advanced Clarification, 5) Strategies and Tactics. Results The average critical thinking ability of 20 students is in the medium category (average score of 69.54). Of the 20 students, 10% were in the very high category, 30% in the high category, 25% in the medium category, and 35% in the low category. Indicators of students' critical thinking in 5 aspects, each of which has an average value that is in the medium category

This research aims to enhance students’ critical thinking skills of SMP Islam Abhariyah on the academic year 2015/2016 through the application of the generative learning model. Research method used was classroom action research (PTK). This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, implementating, observating, and reflecting. Data learning activities of the students and teachers’ activities obtained by observation, while data on students’ critical thinking skills test was obtained by an evaluation at the end of each cycle. The subject of this study was 28 students in VIII-B class. Application of the generative learning model in this study considered as successful if the value of critical thinking skills of the students at a minimum categorized as critical. The data for student’s critical thinking skills was accomplished by using an essay test, and the average value of students is 41.96 (categorized very less critical) whit classical completeness achieved only 3,57% in the cycle I and in the cycle II showed the average value of the students is 68,92 (categorized critical) whit classical completeness increased to 85,71%. Research data of student’s activities was taken by using the student’s observation sheet. The average score in the cycle I is 46.50 (categorized as fairly active) and in the cycle II is 66.00 (categorized as active). The data of teacher’s activities was taken by using teacher’s observation sheet. The presentation of learning material is 64,28% (categorized as good) in the cycle I and 91,06% (categorized as very good) in the gathering II. Thus, the conclusion to this study is the application of the generative learning model can improve students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract. This research to describe implementation of Problem Based Learning models, activities students, and critical thinking skills (CTS) in learning using PBL models on acid-base material. The design used is One Group Pretest Posttest Design with 32 subjects.  This study resulted is: (1) implementation of learning using PBL model  get the results of the average value sequentially at meetings one and two of 3.60 and 3.76, with very good criteria (2) Students perform relevant activities  meaning of students have practiced CTS. The relevant activities of students in sequence at meetings one and two of 98.75% and 97.7%. (3) CTS learners experienced an increase, overall the pretest and posttest scores of students received a percentage of 90.63% students in high category and 9.38% in medium category. The percentage of component of interpretation, inference, and analysis in high category are as follows 78.13%; 81.25%; 90.63%, and the medium category 21.88%; 18.75%; 9.28%.

This study aims to train students' critical thinking skills during the learning process using CCM-CCA assisted by virtual experiments. The material used for research in optics. This type of research uses a quantitative approach. The subjects in the research were 30 physics education students at a university in NTB. The ability to think critically during the learning process is trained with student worksheets equipped with instruments for critical thinking. Learning is carried out for 3 meetings. The results showed that there was an increase in students 'critical thinking skills from the low category with an average score of 38 to the high category with an average score of 75. This fact shows that CCM-CCA learning assisted with virtual experiments can train and even improve students' critical thinking skills in Optical material.

Lack of critical thinking skills in students is a problem faced in thematic learning at <em>SD Negeri 2 Kedungrejo. </em>Therefore, it had an impact on low learning outcomes. From this problem, this study aims to improve critical thinking skills and learning outcomes through discovery learning model. Classroom Action Research (PTK) was used in this study. While the data collection instruments included observation sheets, test questions, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used a comparative descriptive technique. The subjects of this study were 22 4<sup>th</sup> grade students of <em>SD Negeri 2 Kedungrejo.</em> The results of this study indicated an improvement of critical thinking skills and students’ learning outcomes. This can be proven by the average value of students' critical thinking skills in cycle I of 54.67% and increased again in cycle II by 69.84%. Whereas for students’ learning outcomes, in cycle I showed students’ average score of 70. Moreover, it increased by an average value of 80 in cycle II. To sum up, these results showed that applying discovery learning model in the online learning process were able to improve students’ critical thinking skills and learning outcomes.

This study aims to produce an essay test instrument for critical thinking skills on chemical bonding material and to know the validity, reliability, distinguishing features, and the difficulty level of the test instrument. The research method uses the ADDIE model with five stages namely analyze, design, develop, implementation, & evaluation. In this research formative evaluation is done, meaning that the evaluation stage is carried out at the end of each stage. The test developed in the study consisted of eight essay items, referring to 10 indicators of critical thinking according to Ennis. Validation of items was done by three validators. Based on the validity according to the experts obtained an average of every aspect, namely 95% material, 96.87% construction and 91.15% language with an overall average score of 94.34% validation has a valid category. Eight valid questions were tested on 20 students. The calculation of the reliability coefficient (r11) with the Alpha Cronbach formula was obtained at 0.65 in the high category, the distinguishing power had an average value of 0.26 in enough categories and the difficulty level of the questions had an average value of 0.42 in the medium category. The developed test instrument is declared valid, reliable, has a good differentiating power, and the level of difficulty of the questions that are being made so that it can be used as a measuring tool to determine students' critical thinking skills.Key word: Research & development, critical thinking test instrument,chemical bonding

This study is motivated by the low critical thinking skills and learning outcomes possessed by the students of VII grade of SMPN 14 Kendari. This study aims to determine the enhancement in critical thinking skills and learning outcomes on the subject Matter of Heat and Its Transfer. The population of this study were all students of VII grade of SMPN 14 Kendari who were registered in the odd semester in 2019/2020 school year, with total 204 students. The sample of this research was group VII3 with total 41 students as the experimental group and group VII4 with total 41 students as the control group who were taken by using random sampling techniques. The research data were analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Research results show: 1) There is no significant difference between the pre-test average scores of students critical thinking skills in the experimental group and the control group; 2) There is no significant difference between the pre-test average scores of the experimental group students and the control group; 3) The post-test average score of students from critical thinking skills in the experimental group was significantly higher than in the control group; 4) The post-test average score of the experimental group students was significantly higher than in the control group; 5) The average value of N-gain critical thinking skills of students in the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group; 6) ) The average value of N-gain learning outcomes of students in the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group.

The aim of this research is to describe the feasibility of learning materials based on 5E learning cycle model to improve student concept mastery and critical thinking skills of grade XI even semester SMKN 2 Tarakan on rate of reaction topic. This research is development research using 4D models as instructional design. The test design of the implementation of the teaching materials use one group pretest-posttest design. The result of this research is Lesson Plan (RPP), Handout, and Student Worksheets (LKS) categorized good. Concept Mastery Test and Critical Thinking Skills Test categorized valid. Handouts and student worksheets have high legibility. Implementation of RPP is good. Prominent student activity in learning based on 5E learning cycle model are reading (looking for information, etc.) (15%), do an experiment to test the hypothesis in groups (13%), and express opinions or communicate information in discussion (13%). Students’ response to learning were very good. Classical completeness concept mastery is 91% with an average score 79.61 and improvement average score (gain) is 0.8 (high category). The average score of critical thinking skills is 82.44 and improvement average score (gain) is 0.8 (high category). Obstacles in the learning based 5E learning cycle model are the number of students are many and less effective of classroom management so there are students who are less attention; lack of lab tools; and obstacles in the learning time, because the number of students are many so it take a lot of time to divide lab tools, lab materials, handouts, worksheets, test questions, and questionnaires. Based on the result of the analysis data can be concluded that learning materials based on 5E learning cycle model produced is feasible so it can be used in learning to improve student concept mastery and critical thinking skills.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kelayakan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis model learning cycle 5E untuk meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI semester genap SMKN 2 Tarakan pada materi pokok laju reaksi. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran. Model pengembangan perangkat yang digunakan adalah model 4D, tetapi hanya sampai tahap pengembangan (develop).  Uji coba perangkat pembelajaran di dalam kelas menggunakan rancangan one group pretest-postest design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa RPP, Handout, dan LKS berkategori baik. Tes penguasaan konsep dan tes keterampilan berpikir kritis berkategori valid. Keterbacaan handout dan LKS tergolong baik. Keterlaksanaan RPP tergolong baik. Aktivitas siswa yang menonjol adalah membaca (mencari informasi dan sebagainya) (15%), melakukan percobaan untuk menguji hipotesis secara berkelompok (13%), dan menyampaikan pendapat atau mengkomunikasikan informasi kepada kelas dan guru dalam diskusi kelas (13%). Respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran sangat baik. Ketuntasan klasikal penguasaan konsep adalah 91% dengan skor rata-rata 79,61 dan skor rata-rata peningkatan (gain) 0,8 (kategori tinggi). Rata-rata skor keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 82,44 dengan skor peningkatan 0,8 (kategori tinggi). Kendala dalam pembelajaran berbasis learning cycle 5E adalah jumlah siswa yang cukup besar dan pengelolaan kelas kurang efektif sehingga masih ada siswa yang kurang terperhatikan, kurangnya alat-alat praktikum yang dibutuhkan, serta kendala dalam waktu pembelajaran, dengan cukup banyaknya siswa sehingga waktu yang diperlukan menjadi lebih banyak untuk membagi alat, bahan praktikum, handout, LKS, soal tes, serta angket. Berdasarkan temuan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran berbasis model learning cycle 5E yang dihasilkan telah layak dan dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the concept map learning method on students' critical thinking skills in basic chemical law material. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group. The research instruments used were tests and questionnaires. The variable measured was students' critical thinking. The results showed that the concept map learning method had an effect on students' critical thinking skills. This can be seen in the average value of student responses and higher learning outcomes.. In the experimental class, there was an increase in critical thinking skills from the pretest average score of 48.31 to the posttest average score of 51.40. Meanwhile, the control class experienced a decrease from the pretest average value of 47.95 to the posttest average score of 44.40. Students in the experimental class who were treated with the concept map method experienced an increase and obtained higher learning outcomes than the control class without treatment.

  Learning to analyze the structure and linguistic exposition text is part of reading skills by optimizing critical thinking skills. The research results that have been carried out by the authors are: 1) The first hypothesis is accepted. The author gets the average value of learning implementation is 3.65; 2) The second hypothesis is accepted. This can be proven by the results of the experimental class pretest average score of 27.14 and the experimental class posttest value of 82.28; 3) The third hypothesis is accepted. This can be proven based on the results of the t test data, obtained a degree of freedom of 24 with a 95% confidence level and a significant level of 5% with the results of t count> t table. 4) The fourth hypothesis is accepted. The pretest data in the experimental class is a minimum score of 14.29, a maximum score of 42.86, a total value of 678.59 and a mean value of 27.14. Posttest data in the experimental class got a minimum score of 71.43, a maximum score of 92.86, a total value of 2057.11 and a mean value of 82.28. The pretest data in the control class obtained a minimum score of 0, a maximum score of 42.86, a total value of 450 and a mean value of 18. The posttest value of the experimental class with a minimum score of 35.71, a maximum score of 85.71, a total value of 1478.55, and the mean value is 59.14; 5) The fifth hypothesis is accepted. The experimental class gets an average value of 82.28, an average value of 59.14; 6) The sixth hypothesis is accepted. In the experimental class, the average score obtained from the observation sheets of critical thinking skills of students was 25 people including in the good category (B). Based on these data, the authors conclude that analyzing the structure and language of the exposition text with the think pair and share method to improve the critical thinking skills of class X students successfully.

This study aims to improve the critical thinking skills of students of class XI IPA 2 MAN 2 Karawang on PPKn subjects through the Decision Making learning model. The use of this learning model is one of the efforts to improve critical thinking skills of students of class XI IPA 2 MAN 2 Karawang on PPKn subjects. The research method used in this study is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, which is research conducted by teachers in their own class with the aim of improving their performance as teachers, so that student learning outcomes become more improved. The PTK model used is the Kemmis & Mc model. Taggart which consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments used are test results, observation, and interviews. Learning outcomes tests are used to measure students' success in critical thinking skills in the subject of analyzing cases of threats to ideology, politics, economics, socio-culture, defense and security and strategies to overcome them in the frame of Bhineka Tungga Ika). Observation and interview using observation format and interview format. The results showed that the use of the Decision Making learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills in PPKn subjects. From the pre-action class average value 28.76, it becomes 49.41 in the first cycle, 67.53 in the second cycle, and 91.79 in the third cycle..
