The article reviews the main physical and physicochemical factors influencing the three-component system “fingerprint powder – prints bearing surface – sweat and grease print substance”. The authors propose new model compositions of fingerprint powders considering the reviewed common patterns: non-magnetic and luminescent magnetic. The features of prints bearing surfaces and developed fingerprint powders have been evaluated by applying electronic microscopy methods (scanning and probe microscopy). The authors have proven that the use of nano- and ultra disperse materials in the developed compositions (carbon nanotubes and shungite) enables to vary the sorption and adhesive capacity of fingerprint powders, which allows detecting fingerprints on varying surfaces with high selectivity toward the sweat and grease print substance and contrasting effect.

ABSTRACTCovalently-linked adducts of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with biomolecules have been fabricated. Results are presented here for DNA-SWNT and for biotin-SWNT adducts. DNA-SWNT adducts are shown to be biochemically accessible and to exhibit high selectivity, favoring hybridization with complementary vs. non-complementary DNA sequences. Biotin-SWNT adducts were also prepared and used to direct the assembly of nanotubes onto a biotinylated glass surface.

Granulated Pt/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were found to have a much better catalytic activity in the liquid phase hydrogenation of nitrobenzene than Pt/activated carbon (AC). The granulated CNTs had much larger pores than the AC particles, which gave a faster mass transfer rate of H2 that helped produce aniline with high selectivity.

A novel film of overoxidized polypyrrole and carboxylic multi-walled carbon nanotubes (c-MWNTs) was fabricated with molecular imprinted technique for dopamine by a direct and facile electropolymerization method. The resulting modified electrode surface was characterized with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results demonstrated that the modified electrode not only possessed a good sensitivity but also exhibited a high selectivity toward DA which making anodic potential difference of DA and AA is 318 mV in DPV. Under the optimum conditions, the linear range of the dopamine biosensor ranges from 5.0×10−8 to 6.0×10−6 mol/L with a detection limit of 5.0×10−9 mol/L
