The article deals with the problem of multi-criteria decision-making problems, which are characterized by a large number of options and alternatives. It is proposed to use visual filtering of graphic images describing the corresponding alternatives as one of the stages in decision-making in such tasks. The approaches and requirements for the construction of graphic images of alternatives are considered. Describes the steps and algorithms for constructing visual images of alternatives, based on the radial and pie charts, and include the normalization procedure. It describes software that implements the proposed algorithms, as well as providing interactive interaction with an expert for visual filtering of multi-criteria alternatives. Additionally, the capabilities of the developed software are described, which include filtering alternatives based on threshold values, as well as the possibility of conducting a series of experiments in order to obtain the union or intersection of filtered sets of alternatives. A synthetic test for filtering 201 alternatives is described, each of which is described by 15 criteria. As a result of a series of experiments, this choice set was reduced by about 28 times. A description is also given of an experiment on visual filtering of real alternatives that describe estimates of the accuracy of calculating inviscid flow around a cone using several OpenFoam solvers. Each solver is characterized by 288 criteria, and according to the results of visual filtering, the advantage in the accuracy of the calculations of two solvers over the others is clearly established.

The article deals with the problem of choosing a preferred alternative in a pairwise comparison procedure. The difficulties of applying this procedure in a case of using alternatives with a large number of criteria are noted. It is proposed to supplement the procedure of expert pairwise comparison with visualization tools of multi-criteria alternatives. The paper considers several visualization methods for multi-criteria alternatives for pairwise comparison procedures: histograms, two-dimensional graphs, three-dimensional surfaces, probability distribution diagrams, visualization based on modifications of radar and radial diagrams, as well as combined methods. It described an experimental study of the application of the considered method for the task of determining the preferred alternative by the example of choosing one of two OpenFoam solvers (rhoCentralFoam and pisaCentralFoam), with the help of which estimates of the accuracy of calculating the inviscid flow around a cone were obtained. Each solver is characterized by 288 criteria. It is shown that the use of some of the methods considered does not make it possible for the expert to make a choice. In this case, a good result was obtained using methods for constructing three-dimensional surfaces, probability distribution diagrams, as well as using the combined method based on modified radar diagrams. It is concluded that the rhoCentralFoam solver is more preferable if there are no additional criteria for ranking the criteria. The possibility of using the combined method in combination with the ranking procedure of criteria (or their groups) during decision-making is also noted.

The article discusses methods for constructing and research stereometric visual images of multi-criteria alternatives. The difficulty of applying traditional decision-making methods when choosing the best alternative in the case of decision-making tasks with a large dimension is noted. Methods are proposed for reducing the dimension of a decision-making problem by constructing stereometric visual images that describe choice set and criteria set. The tasks of visual analytics are highlighted in the course of reducing the dimension of the decisionmaking task: grouping and ranking criteria, pairwise comparison and filtering of alternatives. A description of the methods for constructing stereometric visual images of multi-criteria alternatives based on histograms of alternatives and criteria is given. Also describes a method for constructing surface of the criteria's correlation. Using the developed method of alternatives visualization as a single image enables their visual filtering. The application method of the criteria visualization as a single image in combination with the construction and analysis of surface of the criteria's correlation allows for the grouping and ranking of criteria. The experiment is described on the application of the proposed methods for constructing and studying stereometric visual images of multi-criteria alternatives using the example of the problem of choosing the best OpenFoam solver, with the help of which estimates of the accuracy of calculating the inviscid flow around the cone were obtained. It is shown how, due to the above visualization methods, it is possible to reduce the count of criteria by several times.

Interests and number of STMIK Balikpapan new student enrollments are increasing every year. The balance of the ratio of lecturers to students is one of the most important components in improving the quality and teaching and learning process of a university. Avoiding shortages in the number of lecturers can be realized by providing scholarship programs to alumni and teaching assistants. This study aims to build a multi criteria decision making application that can assist the Head of HRD in the process of receiving scholarships to advanced and effective study lecturers. The multi criteria decision making application developed in this study uses the SAW method. The implementation of the SAW method includes the process of evaluating the weighting of criteria, evaluating alternative weights, the matrix process, the results of decision making preferences, resulting in the weighting and ranking of each alternative candidate for the scholarship recipient. The results of the evaluation of multi-criteria application decision making in the study are expected to produce modeling with a high degree of accuracy. The results of the analysis carried out can provide alternative recommendations for prospective scholarship recipients to advanced study lecturers in STMIK Balikpapan.

Banking has always played an important role in the economy because of its effects on individuals as well as on the economy. In the process of renovation and modernization of the country, the system of commercial banks has changed dramatically. Business models and services have become more diversified. Therefore, the performance of commercial banks is always attracting the attention of managers, supervisors, banks and customers. Bank ranking can be viewed as a multi-criteria decision model. This article uses the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method to rank some commercial banks in Vietnam.

AbstractAlthough visual culture of the 21th century increasingly focuses on representation of death and dying, contemporary discourses still lack a language of death adequate to the event shown by pictures and visual images from an outside point of view. Following this observation, this article suggests a re-reading of 20th century author Elias Canetti. His lifelong notes have been edited and published posthumously for the first time in 2014. Thanks to this edition Canetti's short texts and aphorisms can be focused as a textual laboratory in which he tries to model a language of death on experimental practices of natural sciences. The miniature series of experiments address the problem of death, not representable in discourses of cultural studies, system theory or history of knowledge, and in doing so, Canetti creates liminal texts at the margins of western concepts of (human) life, science and established textual form.
