Background:Sleep is a very fundamental need for every individual, especially for elderly people in social institutions. Poor quality of sleep in the elderly may lead to several disturbances, such as vulnerability to diseases,forgetfulness, psychomotor disorders, disorientation and difficulty to make decision. Some intervention may include pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. One of non-pharmacology therapies that isused to increase sleep qualityis rose aromatherapy. Objective: To determine the effect of rose aromatherapy on the quality of sleep in elderly at PSTW Budi Luhur Kasongan Bantul, Yogyakarta. Method: This study was a quasi-experiment research,with one group pretest-posttest design. Samples were taken with simple random sampling technique, involving 24 respondents. Each respondent was given rose aromatherapy for 5 minutes for 5 consecutive days. Result:Statistical analysis with marginal-homogeneity test showed p-value of 0,000 (p value<0,05).It suggested that there was a significant effect ofrose aromatherapy on the quality of sleep in elderly at Social Institution of Tresna Werdha Budi Luhur Kasongan Bantul, Yogyakarta. Conclusion:Roses aroma therapy has effect in improving sleep quality in the elderly at Social Institution of TresnaWerdha Budi LuhurKasonganBantul, Yogyakarta. <p><em>Bad sleep quality causes fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and often drowsiness in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of aroma of lavender therapy on the quality of elderly sleep at Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. This type of research is quantitative with pre-experimental design using One Group Pretest-Posttest Design design using T-test dependent test. Sampling technique in this research use purposive sampling 30 responden as intervention group. The research to do in Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. The results of the study found that all elderly (100%) had poor sleep quality before lavender aromatherapy and only 40% experienced poor sleep quality after lavender therapy. The statistical test obtained p value = 0.000, where there is influence of lavender therapy to sleep quality of elderly in Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. The smell of lavender therapy can improve the quality of elderly sleep. Officer Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang in order to provide lavender therapy every 2 times / week at bedtime so as to improve the quality of elderly sleep.</em></p><p> </p><p>Kualitas tidur buruk menyebabkan kelelahan, sulit berkonsentrasi, dan sering mengantuk pada lansia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh aroma terapi lavender terhadap kualitas tidur lansia di Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain preekperimental menggunakan rancangan One Group Pretest-Posttest Design menggunakan uji T-test dependent. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling 30 responden sebagai kelompok intervensi. Penelitian dilakukan di Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. Hasil penelitian didapatkan seluruh lansia (100%) mengalami kualitas tidur yang buruk sebelum diberikan aromaterapi lavender dan hanya 40% yang mengalami kualitas tidur buruk sesudah diberikan aroma terapi lavender. Uji statistik didapatkan nilai p= 0,000, dimana terdapat pengaruh terapi lavender terhadap kualitas tidur lansia di Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. Aroma terapi lavender dpat meningkatkan kualitas tidur lansia. Petugas Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang agar dapat memberikan terapi lavender setiap 2 kali/ minggu saat menjelang tidur sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas tidur lansia.</p>

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronical community health problem, and mostly suffered by the elderly. The elderly with DM have several symptoms at night that caused a sleep disorder and it may be affected by the poor quality of sleep.  The poor quality of sleep has several negative impacts to elderly including sleepy in the daylight, a lack of attention, memory disorders, depression, easy to fall, and reduce of the quality of life. There is a need for a study that assesses the sleep quality of elderly with DM. This study used descriptive quantitative approach. The samples were chosen using total sampling technique. This study involved 47 elderly with DM in the primary health center (PHC) Garuda. The data were collected using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) Questionnaire that has been adapted for elders. The data were analyzed using distribution frequency. The results showed that the majority of elderly had a poor sleep quality (51%). All elders in this study had sleep disorders, and some of them had behavior that affected   their sleep quality, such as sleeping in a bright room (n=25), sleeping in low temperature room (n=27), and consuming caffeine (n=28). Nurses in the community setting are expected to provide health education to maintenance a good sleep quality, such as the importance of sleeping in the dark and warm temperature room, and avoiding to consume caffeine.

ABSTRACT Background: The quality of sleep in elderly tend to decline. This occurs as a result of certain changes such as physical, biological, mental and socio-economic. The quality of sleep may influence the healthcondition for short or long terms. Poor quality of sleep may cause difficulty in concentrating, slow response, memory disturbance and decrease of performance in daily life. The decline of sleep qualitymay be resolved with Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular Relaxation (JPMR) exercise. Objective: To analyze the effect of Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular Relaxation on sleep quality inelderly at Budi Agung Social Institution. Methods: This study is a pre experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design. The subject ofthis study were the 19 elderly at Budi Agung Social Institution. In this study, JPMR exercise was done in5 days. Sleep quality before and after JPMR exercise was measured using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) questionnair. The data obtained was analyzed using McNemar test. Results: From a total of 19 subjects, 3 subjects had good sleep quality while 16 subjecst had poor sleepquality. On the other hand, after the JPMR excercise, improved sleep qualiy was found in the 16 subjectswhile the 3 subjects still had poor sleep quality; bivariate analysis p value = 0.002 (p <0.05). Conclusion: Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular Relaxation (JPMR) has a significant effect on sleepquality in elderly at Budi Agung Social Institution. Introduction: Sleep hygiene therapy is a non- pharmacological therapy that can be done by nurses in providing nursing actions to schizophrenic patients. Methods: The design of this research is Pre- Experimental Design in the form of One-Group Pretest-Postest Design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total of 15 respondents Results: The results of the analysis showed that there were differences in the sleep quality of schizophrenic patients before and after sleep hygiene therapy which was indicated by the results of the Paired Sample T- Test analysis where the significance results were p value = 0.000 <0.05. Discussion: The results showed the influence of sleep hygiene therapy on the quality of sleep of schizophrenia patients in the Elang 1 and Elang 2 at Soeharto Heerdjan Mental Hospital, Jakarta 2020.

Introduction. Elderly has decreased in many body system including the impact on sleep disorder. The purpose of this study was to analize effect of geriatric gymnastic on sleep quality of the elderly. Methods. This research used quasy experiment methods with pre and post test only non equivalent control group design. The population in this study was the elderly as many as 82 people. Sample in this research was 30 participants that are defi ned with total sampling method who was appropriated with the criteria. Sampel was devided into two groups which are 15 people of intervention group and 15 people of control group. Data instrument in measuring the quality of sleep used PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) by observation. Result. There was a signifi cant effect of geriatric gymnasticon sleep quality of the elderly at Tresna Werdha Senjarawi Social Home Bandung with t-test, p-value 0.000 or < 0.05. Discussion. The geriatric gymnastics can be designed more interest the elderly to follow this activities regulary so can overcome sleep disorders in the elderly.Keywords : Quality of Sleep, Geriatric Gymnastic, Elderly

Introduction: Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is highly contagious, has spread across the world rapidly and has taken many lives. All these have created a lot of concern for people leading to heightened levels of anxiety as a common response to this dreadful situation. It not only has affected physically but psychologically as well including sleep quality. This study aimed to assess employees and their spouses’ level of anxiety and sleep quality. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted to find out level of anxiety and quality of sleep among employees and their spouses in Nepal during COVID-19 pandemic from June 14, 2020, to July 4, 2020. Web based Google forms and printed questionnaire were used to collect data as required. Total enumerative sampling technique was used where 128 responses were received. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. P value was significant at 0.05. Ethical approval was obtained from Institutional Review Committee of Patan Academy of Health Sciences. Results: The overall prevalence of COVID-19 dysfunctional anxiety was 1.6% and poor quality sleep was 39.1%. There was no significant association of age, gender and status of respondents with quality of sleep at 95% of significance level (p-value=.089, .887, .964 respectively). Conclusion: From findings of the study, it is concluded that though only few respondents had dysfunctional covid-19 anxiety, about two fifth respondents had poor quality of sleep. Therefore, poor quality sleep could be addressed, and counselling could be performed on time. Key words: COVID-19 anxiety, employee, sleep quality, spouse.

When human get an older, there more likely to experience physical, mental, spiritual, economic and social problems. One of the most basic problems in the elderly is the health problems caused by the degenerative process. The process of degeneration in the elderly causes an effective sleep time decreases, and causes not achieving adequate sleep quality and cause the sharing of sleep complaints that can disrupt the quality of life of the elderly This study aims to determine the relationship quality of sleep with quality of life in elderly in Surakarta. This research is descriptive correlative research with cross sectional approach. The study population was 334 elderly people in Surakarta. The sample of 96 elderly was obtained by proportional random sampling technique. Data collection used the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire and the WHOQL-BREF (World Health Organization of Life-BREF) questionnaire, while the data analysis used Chi Square test. Chi Square test results p-value of 0.002 so that Hypothetis null was rejected. The conclusion of the study where the level of quality of elderly sleep mostly good, the quality of life of the elderly mostly less and there where correlation level of quality of sleep with quality of life of elderly in Surakarta where better quality of sleep quality of life of elderly higher.

The incidence of hypertension is still very high in various ages and genders. Hypertension itself is caused by several factors, namely stress and consumption of foods that contain excessive salt. While the risk factors include family history, lifestyle, poor diet, smoking, racial sex, and age. Another factor that is often overlooked is sleep patterns. This study aims to determine what factors can affect the quality of sleep in patients with hypertension. The research design used a cross-sectional study approach with a total sample of 57 hypertension patients under the work area of ??Puskesmas Ciptomulyo Malang City and the sampling technique used was accidental sampling. The questionnaires used included the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and DASS 42. The results showed that the demographic data of respondents with the category of the late elderly 56-65 years were 22 respondents (38.6%), female gender was 35 respondents (61, 4%), SD education level was 32 respondents (40.4%), and worked as many as 35 respondents (61.4%). The results of the correlation test showed that the characteristics of respondents that affected the quality of sleep in patients with hypertension were age (p = 0.014) and gender (p = 0.005). Meanwhile, the factors that affect the sleep quality of hypertensive patients are psychosocial stress with a p-value = 0.001. So it can be concluded that the factors that affect the quality of sleep in patients with hypertension are age, gender, and psychosocial stress.

Abstract Background : From the discovery of many cases of depression in the elderly that leads to decreased quality of sleep to be suicidal at the thought of illness and old age who live alone. Purpose: of this study was to determine the correlation between depression and sleep quality in the elderly in Semenharjo Suruhkalang Karanganyar`. Methods : This study is analytical, research design and cross sectional correlation. The study subjects were elderly Semenharjo totaling 53 pearsons. Once the calculation is done using the formula, samples taken by 47 person. The sampling technique used was quota sampling technique. Results : Data obtained by survey methods, namely distributing questionnaires containing HRS-D (Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression) to determine the level of depression and 20 statements to determine the quality of sleep for each respondent. The data collected is then analyzed with the chi square test with p = 0.05. From the research found 5 levels of depression that no amount of 2 elderly depression (4.3%), mild levels of depression some 11 elderly (23.4%), moderate and severe levels of depression with the same result number 8 elderly (17.0% ), and the rate of severe depression once some 18 elderly (38.3%). Then for a good night's sleep quality showed some 23 elderly (48.9%), while the quality of sleep is not restful some 24 elderly (51.1%). Conclusion : After the chi square test, p obtained for 0,000 so that the value of P <0.05, meaning that Ha received so it can be concluded that there is a correlation between depression and sleep quality in elderly Semenharjo, Suruhkalang Karanganyar.
