Bridging the Communication Gap Using DISC Theory of Leadership in the Hybrid Work Environment

The recent changes in work environment owing to the COVID 19 pandemic has made us rethink the utility of office space at a time when an exponential growth in the use of online platforms has been observed. With the flexibility of working space and timing, employees and the organizational heads have redefined work culture and the old adage of strict 9 to 5 job seems to have been completed changed. The current paper attempts to understand the four behavioral patterns of DISC exhibited by leaders in any work environment. It explains what are the four behavioral traits and how they influence communication. And in a hybrid work environment, with lot of flexibility in time and space, what steps are to be taken in order to make communication effective and avert miscommunication as half of the employees work offline while the other half works online.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyse the drivers that allow for enhanced personal productivity of knowledge-based workers in Central London focusing on the physical and social environment as well as worker’s individual preferences. Design/methodology/approach A closed-ended questionnaire was sent to employees of eight professional companies (Consultancy, Financial and Media Services) based in Central London. Of the 500 questionnaires sent, 213 were successfully completed and returned, representing a response rate of 42.6 per cent. Findings The findings from this trial study show that comfort, convenience, IT connectivity, good design and working to a specific time scale were strong drivers of personal productivity. Knowledge workers prefer a flexible range of office settings that enable both a stimulating open and connected work environment, knowledge sharing, collaboration, as well as quiet concentration locations, free of distractions and noise. It was also found that moves of knowledge workers into open-plan office space (and especially fee earners) is normally met with initial resistance. However, there is normally greater acceptance of open space after experiencing an actual move into open-plan, with benefits improving teamwork and communication being highlighted. The research also stresses that office design considerations need to be closer aligned with knowledge worker’s overall well-being and individual psychological needs. Research limitations/implications Limited to Central London offices and self-assessed evaluation of productivity drivers within the knowledge worker’s office environment. Practical implications Corporate real estate managers and office occupiers, designers and facilities managers can use the findings as part of their workplace strategy by providing a range of flexible workplaces that allow the knowledge worker a place for greater personal productivity through the provision of a well-designed collaborative office environment alongside private and quiet working spaces. Developers and landlords should also be aware of these requirements when taking their decisions. Originality/value This paper focuses specifically on the high-productivity knowledge-based work environment, demonstrating that there is a need to consider the collaborative physical and social environment and the individual preferences of knowledge workers to ensure enhanced personal productivity and well-being within the office. This can be achieved through the provision of a well-designed office space that allows for open, connected and comfortable work environments, as well as opportunities to use dedicated concentration spaces that are free of distraction. It was also shown that hot-desking was unanimously disliked by knowledge workers.

Despite the exponential growth of collaborative consumption practices, online fashion renting, an important type of collaborative fashion consumption, is still underexplored. Drawing on the theories of Reasoned Action (TRA) and Innovation Diffusion, we developed a holistic research framework to explore the motives for online fashion renting. By analyzing a total of 300 usable responses collected by a research market company using structure equation modeling (SEM), we found that attitudes and subjective norms positively influenced consumers’ intentions to engage with online fashion rental services. Moreover, we found that environmental awareness also had a significant influence on attitudes toward fashion renting through online platforms, and that relative advantage, amplified by personal innovativeness and fashion consciousness, also positively influenced consumers’ attitudes toward online fashion renting. Interestingly, price consciousness did not contribute to relative advantage.

The classical Muslim scholarly tradition produced an assortment of literature on different religions including a considerable number of descriptive studies, a phenomenon that leaves imposing questions. Most importantly, how a pre-modern civilization was able to generate a tradition of descriptive scholarship on different religions in the absence of conditions such as the western modernity that supposedly factored the emergence of the modern academic study of religion needs to be explored. The current paper ventures to answer this question. It argues that certain features of the Qur’ānic worldview, such as the repeated invitation to observe the signs of God in time and space through travel in the land/across the world and to ponder upon the history of various nations coupled with the exhortation to use reason generated curiosity about different civilizations of the world as well as their religious heritage. Moreover, the Qur’ānic view of the universality of the religious phenomenon as a divine plan also encouraged a sober disposition towards religious others in cases under discussion. On the other hand, the meticulous historiographical techniques and methods for the interpretation of texts developed by Muslim historians, theologians, and jurists afforded the needed methodological apparatus for the said undertaking. The current paper further concludes that the same epistemology and methodological foundations can be appropriated according to/keeping in view the needs of the time to promote a credible study of religion/s in contemporary Muslim societies

In this article, we propose a new theoretical lens through which to explore the relationship between sociotechnical artifacts, the messages they convey, and the cultural meanings derived from them. This premise, which we entitle the "carrier wave principle," holds that there is no theoretical limit to the amount and variety of knowledge that may be derived from a given cultural artifact over time. This axiom can be understood as the result of changes in technological regimes and cultural modalities over time and space, and this has been true throughout history. However, continuing exponential growth in the power and ubiquity of computational processing have accelerated this process to the point where new modalities of knowledge production are now available within the course of a human lifetime. We located our analysis at the intersection of several fields of scholarship, including media studies, information science, cultural studies, science and technology studies, and critical data studies. We conclude with an exploration of the carrier wave principle’s real-world consequences and contexts, including implications for privacy, security, identity and subjectivity.

For accurate prediction of flow, scalar transport and wall heat and mass transfer in complex building space we propose a time-dependent RANS (T-RANS) approach which resolves in time and space the large-scale convective motion and associated deterministic eddy structure. The residual (“subscale”) turbulence is modeled by a single-point closure. The method can be regarded as Very Large Eddy Simulations (VLES) since the deterministic and modeled contribution to the turbulence moments are of the same order of magnitude. The modeled part becomes dominant in the near-wall regions where there are no large eddies and the proper choice of the subscale model is especially important for predicting wall friction and heat transfer. We use an ensemble-averaged 〈k〉 - 〈ε〉 - 〈θ2〉 algebraic stress/flux/concentration closure as the subscale model which can provide information about the stress and heat/species flux anisotropies. The method is especially advantageous for predicting flows driven or affected by thermal buoyancy, for which the conventional eddy-viscosity/diffusivity RANS models and gradient transport hypotheses are known to fail even in simple generic configurations. The approach was validated in a series of buoyancy-driven flows for which experimental, DNS and LES data are available. Examples of full-scale application include computational simulations of real occupied and furnished residential or office space in which the furniture elements and persons are treated as passive blocking elements. The simulation showed that the T-RANS approach can be used as a reliable tool for a variety of applications such as optimization of heating and ventilation system, building space insulation, indoor quality, safety measures related to smoke and fire spreading, as well as for accurate wall heat and mass transfer predictions.

Studies on ecological modernization have produced a fruitful discussion concerning the connection between society and nature based on the evolution of socio-political institutions. However, the question from the individual’s perspective and their evaluation of the environmental institutions’ modernization remains unsystematically explored. This paper introduces the actor’s narratives on what I called time and space restructuration to define a sensitive method to explore the socio-ecological controversies produced by the enactment of a new environmental institution at the national level. The paper reconstructs the social discourse in relation to the exponential growth of Chilean extractive industries, which run in parallel with the government’s intent to ensure high levels of sustainability through institutional changes that occurred between 1990 and 2015. The main argument proposes that rendering the ecological modernization as a final stage of institutional improvement obscures a controversial reorganization of actions and roles at the environmental level. From this perspective, the clash between different organizations of time and space at the environmental level, among different social actors, offers a valid perspective on the re-emergence of socio-ecological conflicts.

The changes will affect the employment scenery across various industries, ranging from significant job creation to job displacement, and from heightened labor productivity to widening skills gaps. As a reaction to this volatile and unpredictable work environment, where individuals are compelled to mind their own careers and stable long-term employment is not granted for anyone, vocational psychology, educational institutions and educators are urged to address the issues of employability.The current paper discusses the reasons leading up to the evolving world of employment and the stances/options that institutions and individuals can take to tackle the situation.

The era of COVID-19 transforms the traditional classroom into the fully online distance learning system. This new learning mode presents new challenges to both the lecturer and students at the College of Teacher Training and Education (STKIP) Muhammadiyah Barru, Indonesia. This research focused on identifying the types of online platforms applied in distance learning of paragraph writing course, the students’ behaviors and challenges toward the learning system, and the English skill output of the learning process. The method was qualitative descriptive consisting of data collection and data analysis. The data was gathered by interviewing and observing the participants. The data was then analyzed by using distance learning concepts of Cynthia White. The result indicated that the class made use of Multi-synchronous distance learning. However, they preferred to make use the asynchronous distance learning due to the flexibility of time and space, also its cost-effective. Besides, the research found that the students fast adapted to the new learning context for the ability to operate technology, yet they did not fully understand their roles and responsibilities during the learning process. Moreover, as the challenges of self-independent demand, self-awareness and management and the slow internet access of their isolated areas, most of the students did not show satisfied output in writing English paragraph.


Now a days there are many interpersonal conflict with colleagues in the work environment there may arises a negative sentimental reaction may arises in the team to achieve the goal or to move to the higher position. If the head of the team may want to give some sentimental treatment to the team members he or she want to face the interpersonal conflicts it is also one of the part in their work experience. However the manger can handle the issues and inter personal conflicts may decide the worth of the manager. Rao on the studies he can able to find the working capacity and their performance of the managers the interpersonal conflicts can plays a major role in the bank sector. The managers can be well concentrated in their work and can find out minimum of 15% of interpersonal conflicts which can determines the capacity of the managers. The sentimental prediction can play a major role in the work place how the manger can react to the other workers and how they handing the issues that are arises in the working environment. The face reaction which may shows the how the person can react to others in the any part of situation. The current paper shows how the manger can react to the issue depending on their mode for the arise of interpersonal conflicts

BACKGROUND: With this paper it is made an analysis of the concepts for organization of the furniture and furnishing of office spaces. Two different aspects are beeing developed, which are intended for two different business structures and entities. The comparative approach for two functional divergent concepts allows clearer insight in the requests, the possibilities and the capacities of the premise for each specific purpose. Through the project analyzes the potential users of the office space would have detailed review and knowledge for the planning and the design procedures of the concrete space. The organization of the furniture and the remaining arrangement vary in the two project varieties created for them and are much depended on the analyzes of the anthropometric and ergonomic principles of design being applied in the development of the project varieties.AIM: The aim of the ergonomic analyzes being shown in the paper is to get quality and comfortable working space, in which the human factor is very important.RESULTS: Through better understanding of the ergonomic parameters, the designer can influence on the health and the safety in the working place. In fact, responsibility and task of each designer is to constantly follow the researches in the field of the ergonomic in order to apply, maintain and improve them while designing the furniture and the interior. In this paper the most frequent ergonomic problems are being covered appearing in separate characteristic working places. Also, the amount of communication and manipulation space is being mentioned. Moreover, the nodes with problematic connections are being mentioned and the opportunities to overcome them. CONCLUSION: Only with quality understanding of the human factor, its working place, the equipment, the working environment and the interaction relationships which exist between them, could the furniture and the interiors be designed in healthy and safe manner to create effective and efficient working systems.
