The work offers estimation of Lake Yalpuh's water quality for a long period as a fishery object. The preliminary analysis of the dynamics of water quality indicators change showed that there was a decrease of concentrations of almost all quality indicators during the period of the study (2003 - 2017). According to the results of the estimation, the water quality of Lake Yalpuh in the top section was characterized by the "very dirty" category, the quality class was marked as IVc-IVd. Most often such indicators as dry residue, magnesium, chlorides, sulfates were taken as limiting indicators of pollution. During the research the quality of lake water was did not change significantly. The maximum level of pollution was observed in 2004. The water of the lake at the water intake section was also characterized by the "very dirty" category, the quality class was marked as IVb - IVd. Most often such indicators as magnesium and sulfates were taken as limiting indicators of pollution. During the period of research there was a tendency towards a decrease of the lake's level of water pollution. The maximum level was observed in 2003 – 2004. The waters of the lake in the 13th km section was characterized by the "dirty" (quality class ІІІa-ІІІb) and "very dirty" (quality class IVa-IVc) categories. Most often such indicators as magnesium and sulfates were taken as indicators of limiting pollution. Significant fluctuations of the level of the lake water pollution were observed. The maximum level was observed in 2004. The general analysis of the dynamics of change of the combinatorial index of water pollution in Yalpuh Lake at three sections for 2003 - 2017 showed that the maximum level of water pollution in the lake was observed at the first section (top), the minimum – at the 13th km section. There is a tendency towards decrease of the value of the combinatorial index of pollution. Virtually the entire territory of the Yalpuh River Basin is located at the southern part of Moldova where the state of wastewater treatment is unsatisfactory. Therefore, the level of pollution in the lake often exceeds the permissible standards. In recent years, due to decrease mineral fertilizers and pesticides use in Moldova's agricultural sector, the situation improved though.

Introduction. The paper explores the long-term spatial and temporal variability of the chemical composition and water quality in the Kuban River. Methods. To study the variability of the chemical composition of river water, we analyzed data from systematic observations over the concentrations of major ions, biogenic and organic substances, petroleum products and heavy metals from 2010 to 2017. To describe the variability of water quality, we used such indicators as water quality class, water pollution level, and characteristic pollutants. Results. It is shown that the spatial change in the chemical composition is uneven — a number of components in the water have low concentrations in the upper reaches, increasing in the lower part of the river. Others are characterized by high concentrations in the middle reaches, followed by a decrease towards the mouth. Over time, the change in the concentrations of chlorides, sulfates, organic substances and petroleum products increases. As for the content of nitrates, a slight decrease was detected in its variability. For the remaining chemicals, there were no clear trends. We established that in most cases the water in the Kuban River can be classified as polluted and very polluted (water quality class 3). We also found that the nature of river water pollution regarding a number of components is stable. Conclusion. In modern conditions of sharp climate changes and anthropogenic impact, the identified features of the chemical composition and trends in water quality variability of the Kuban River are of great practical importance and can be used in the development of environmentally sound recommendations for improving water quality and the state of water ecosystems in the river basin.

Twenty lake bottom surface layers mud and water samples in the Qilihai Wetland and the Beidagang Reservoir in Tianjin were taken to do diatoms analysis. More than 6000 diatoms were identified and divided into 117 species and 28 genera. Based on the calculation of DAIpo(Diatom Assemblage to organic water pollution), the water pollution level of the Beidagang Reservoir can be divided into: Xenosaprobic, β -oligosaprobic, α -oligosaprobic, β -mesosaprobic, from clear to slightly cloudy water. The water pollution level of Qilihai wetland can be divided into: extremely oligarchy dirt belt, β oligarchy dirt belt, α oligarchy dirt belt, β Medium dirt belt, that is, the water quality is clear to slightly turbid. The water quality of the Beidagang Reservoir is clearer than that of the Qilihai Wetland. The physical and chemical indexes such as EC, pH, TN, TP and CODMn were determined for the water samples, and the correlation between DAIpo and these measured values was analyzed. The results showed that the degree of water pollution detected was consistent with the conclusion obtained by diatom analysis. The results show that the water quality of the Beidagang Reservoir and the Qilihai Wetland was mildly polluted in the spring and summer of 2019, but the eutrophication is more serious.

The aim of this study was to identify the diverse macroinvertebrates present in river Mahanadi, Cuttack in India and to evaluate the role of macroinvertebrates in assessing river water quality and pollution level. We conducted field study of the river at Cuttack (85°46’21.29” E 20°28’15.81” N & 85°49’45.23” E 20°30’50.00” N) during 2013-2014 and collected aquatic invertebrate samples from 12 stations on river basin. The samples were analysed to explore the various families of Macroinvertebrates communities present in river Mahanadi, to examine the status of water quality of the river using biological indicators, to determine whether there are relationships between water chemistry and presence of typical macroinvertebrates and to develop a Macroinvertebrates based index to bio-assessment of Mahanadi River. A total of 484 taxa were identified and about 244 taxa of bivalves and 184 taxa of gastropods were collected. Presence of high number of pollution tolerant taxa and pollution sensitive taxa (Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Tricoptera and Chironomidae) indicated increased risk of water pollution and calculated biotic score (8), biological monitoring working party (BMWP) score (52), average score per taxa (ASPT) score (4) and macroinvertebrate-based index (MBI) value indicated moderate pollution level in the river. We recorded pH, total hardness, dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (BOD), total nitrite, chloride and total phosphate of water and physico-chemical parameters supported the values of biological assessment of water quality. Studying macaroinvertebrates helped to gain knowledge about aquatic faunal biodiversity in river Mahanadi and to develop a method for diagnosis of the health of river ecosystem and for measuring water pollution level.

The study was conducted to know the status of water quality of the Ramna, Crescent and Hatirjheel lakes in the Dhaka city. Water samples were collected from three different points of each lake and analyzed for various physicochemical parameters including temperature, pH, EC, TDS, DO, BOD, hardness, alkalinity, acidity during the period from November 2013 to April 2014. The mean temperature 22.54, 24.59 and 24.24°C; EC 15400, 282.00 and 618.27 ?Scm-1; TDS 85.38, 155.60 and 339.90 ppm; pH 7.73, 7.85 and 7.67; DO 3.51, 3.92 and 3.65 ppm; BOD 0.93, 0.73 and 3.15 ppm; hardness 95.00, 108.56 and 105.11 ppm; alkalinity 48.9, 120.7 and 249.1 ppm, and acidity 2.18, 2.67 and 2.05 ppm were investigated from Ramna, Crescent and Hatirjheel lakes, respectively. Lower concentration of DO was observed in all three lakes that severely harmed the aquatic organisms and degrade their habitat. The comparative study demonstrated that the concentration of BOD, EC, TDS, alkalinity and acidity of Hatirjheel Lake was higher than Ramna and Crescent lakes which indicated pollution of the lake water. The rain and storm water runoff, lack of awareness of people were responsible for the pollution of Ramna, Crescent and Hatirjheel lakes water. Connection of the sewerage line with the rain water collection channels and mixing of solid waste with lake water are the main reasons for pollution of Hatirjheel lake. Poor water quality of these lakes affects the ecosystem and aesthetic beauty negatively. To maintain the sound environment and healthy ecosystem of the lakes and the surrounding areas need proper management and monitoring and implementation of existing laws and regulations. The application of multivariate statistical techniques including cluster analysis and principal component analysis-multiple linear regression (PCA-MLR) was successfully used to classify the river pollution level in Taiwan and identify possible pollution sources. Water quality and heavy metal monitoring data from the Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) was evaluated for 14 major rivers in four regions of Taiwan with the Erren River classified as the most polluted river in the country. Biochemical oxygen demand (6.1 ± 2.38), ammonia (3.48 ± 3.23), and total phosphate (0.65 ± 0.38) mg/L concentration in this river was the highest of the 14 rivers evaluated. In addition, heavy metal levels in the following rivers exceeded the Taiwan EPA standard limit (lead: 0.01, copper: 0.03, and manganese: 0.03) mg/L concentration: lead-in the Dongshan (0.02 ± 0.09), Jhuoshuei (0.03 ± 0.03), and Xinhuwei Rivers (0.02 ± 0.02) mg/L; copper: in the Dahan (0.036 ± 0.097), Laojie (0.06 ± 1.77), and Erren Rivers are (0.05 ± 0.158) mg/L; manganese: in all rivers. A total 72% of the water pollution in the Erren River was estimated to originate from industrial sources, 16% from domestic black water, and 12% from natural sources and runoff from other tributaries. Our research demonstrated that applying PCA-MLR and cluster analysis on long-term monitoring water quality would provide integrated information for river water pollution management and future policy making.

The aim of the work was to elaborate and evaluate the water quality of water reservoir Vranov nad Dyjí. Fresh water was sampled in five different locations of the reservoir (three important tributaries, dam and water captation locality). Ten, the most essential water quality indicators were selected. From the point of view of water quality indicators complexity the most integrated samples were taken in the water captation locality (period 1984 – 2002). At other locations, there were missing dates from the eightieth, but their volume was sufficient for statistical processing.Correlation analyses for the individual locations and dimensions were done as so as determination coefficients for all localities during the time period of 1994 – 2002. The results demonstrate very good allocation of the water captation from the point of view of the water flow.Multiples and factor analysis was done for the period of 1984 – 2002 in the locality Jelení zátoka where the object of water captation is situated. The results of the analysis are nine factors, which influence the water quality of the reservoir. From the point of view of the importance three factors were interpreted.The analyses and results are part of my Ph.D. thesis. The results will be used for other evaluations of the water quality in the reservoir and tributaries, for activities in the catchment’s area and for proposal processing other zones of second level of protected areas.

Natural stochasticity can pose challenges in managing the quality of the environment, or hinder understanding of the system structure. It is problematic because unfavourable stochastic event cancels the costly management effort and because favourable stochastic event overestimates success of the management effort. This paper presents a variance-based modelling method that can be used to quantify the extent to which the natural stochasticity can affect the target environment. We use a case study of a lake water quality assessment in a Norwegian lake of Årungen, together with a lake model MyLake, in order to present the method, and how this method could assist in answering scientific and managerial questions. Specifically, the case study's goal was to disentangle the respective significance of nutrient loading (management) and weather (the confounding natural stochasticity). Many scientifically and managerially relevant understandings have been revealed. For example, variation in runoff volume was most prevalent during autumn and winter, while variation in phosphorus inflow was most extensive from late winter to early spring. Thermal related properties in the lake were mostly determined by weather conditions, whereas loading was the most important factor for phytoplankton biomass and water transparency. Mild winters and greater inputs of suspended matter and phosphorus were followed by increased phytoplankton biomass and light attenuation. These findings suggest also that future changes in the global climate may have important implications for local water management decision-making. The present method of disentangling mutually confounding factors is not limited to lake water quality studies and therefore should provide certain utility in other application field of modelling.

A study was carried out to find out the water quality ofByramangala lake of Ramanagara district. The water quality of Byramangala lake water and ground water from bore wells situated in the area within 600 meters surrounding the lake was analyzed. The quality analysis of various parameters such as BODs, COD, DO, E-Coli, and pH, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Suspended Solids and Total Hardness were tested. In addition, the presence of metals such as Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb), and Iron (Fe) in the lake water and ground water samples were tested. Results for the various tests conducted showed similar trends for both lake water and ground water. It was observed that certain parameters such as BOD5, and COD were beyond permissible limits as per the BIS standards for drinking water. A few remedial measures have been proposed that may help in mitigating the pollution in the selected project area Byramangala Lake.

This article presents the study results of the change dynamics in the chemical composition of water in Lake Iskanderkul and the rivers flowing into it, as well as the comparison of water quality in the water bodies of the Iskanderkul Basin and several mid-stream tributaries of the Zarafshan River. It was established that the chemical composition of water in Lake Iskanderkul and its tributaries meets the requirements of the corresponding state standard (GOST 2874-82 “Drinking Water”). However, in terms of dissolved oxygen, copper, zinc, lead and iron the water in Lake Iskanderkul does not satisfy fish farming requirements. The main water pollution sources in the area include such natural phenomena as floods, avalanches, mudslides, and rock dissolution.

Without knowing the main quality indicators of agricultural products, it is impossible to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of this or that agro-technical measure. One of the factors influencing the quality of sugar beet and watermelon is the effective application of fertilizers. Fertilizers increase the quality indicators of the product along with its expansion. From this point of view, the effect of organic and mineral fertilizers on the quality indicators of sugar beet and watermelon product in the meadow-gray soils of Mugan-Salyan region was studied. The combined application of organic and mineral fertilizers had a positive effect on the quality indicators of sugar beet and watermelon.
